Chamase was passing his time laying down in the sand. If he buried himself he could sometimes forget about the drought with the cool grains brushing against his skin and coat. But the heat was becoming unbearable and the sand was just making him hot and itchy today- if not more then irritated.
His eyes glanced up at the sun as he shimmied out of his hole then shook it all off spraying sand in every direction. He grinned seeing a male not to far off in the distance.
"Would you care to duel sir? Anything to get my mind off this blistering heat." He flattened his ears at the sound of the word heat.

The black and white lion stopped, looking at the red lion for a moment. He spared a glance at the snake draped along his back and around his neck, before turning back to the other. "Okay." He rounded his shoulders, while Ten slid off of him and went to find a spot to watch. No sense in the snake getting hurt, was there? Keahilani turned, then, bracing his paws, before charging. His first attack, alas, was a miss, but he wasn't bothered by it.

He was somewhat distracted by the snake to even notice the other lion trying to hit him- he moved out of the way just in time. It seamed that the heat was going to effect the duel in a bad way- though it was ok. The less effort wasted the less water he would waste needing to cool down.
"Heats bothering you too I see?" He didn't even bother to move forward to attack instead he wiped his brow trying to clear it from the beads of sweat running down from his brow.
"How bout as a fair wage...whoever wins gets to share the other waters wages for the day?" Some extra water would really be nice for a day like today. "-By the way I'm Chamase, whats your name friend?"

The dark male let out a light snort. "I'm fine with the way things are." He paced a bit around his opponent, flicking one ear at the giving and questioning of names. "Keahilani." He then turned, taking advantage of the other male's distraction by Ten, moving in for an attack. He missed again, though, and contemplated if it was from the heat. As he landed, he paused. "This drought needs to end..."

Chamase let out a small chuckle. "It seams you need the water more then me friend." He raced forward and belted him in the right shoulder with his claws outstretched. He took a long hard swipe then pulled back so he was just out of range. "You want to take me up on that offer for he water again?" He joshed in a friendly manor. "Though it looks like at this point...I might be getting some of your rations."

Now he was getting serious. Keahilani's lips curled back, showing his teeth with a deep, rumbling growl. He stalked around Chamase, belly low to the sand. It warmed his pale underside as he moved. A hot wind shifted his fire-like mane, as if to make it move and crackle like flames. Bunching his muscles, he lunged again, feeling his blow connect this time.

He toppled backwards with an enticing smirk. "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about." He couldn't have been more happy that his taunt had caused the other to finally step up his game. "Guess you do want my water ration." He went picked himself up and ignored the heat pounding on his back. He raced forward to catch his other side- but the sun got in his eyes and he missed by half an inch.

The black and white lion stopped, ears flicking. Perhaps his heart wasn't in the duel, or... He was just doing it to have fun. He tilted his head. "What are bets but something to ruin fun?" He paused. "Or make fun... Funner..." He let out a puff of breath. "Distraction is, at least, good in trying times.." Were other prides suffering from the drought? Or was this isolated? He'd patiently listened as his father had talked to them as cubs of Finar-si... Was this punishment from her? His mother, raised under the current ways, had calmly pointed out that seasons shifted everywhere - Keahilani's grandfather had confirmed this from his travels in life. Now... Keahi wasn't ENTIRELY sure. He'd just go with 'the sand is blocking the rain.'

"Ehhhh maybe we should just call it quits?" He blinked several times as the sun beat on him harder. The heat was making this duel no fun in the least and extra water or not he just couldn't concentrate on it at all. His ears flopped onto his skull frustrated. Quitting was not the way he wanted to end a duel. It was certainly not the firekin way anyway. He felt rather disappointed in himself for thinking about it in the first place. "Lets rematch when the heat isn't as bad?"

He thought about it, then gave a half-hearted bat of his paw. It was an intentional miss, with no effort in it. "That would be..." He paused, looking for the world.
"Fun."
Keahilani looked at his snake, suddenly remembering Ten's presence. "Yes. Fun." He looked back at the other lion, and, after a moment, gave a rare smile. And then just like that, the smile was gone. Keahi went over to Ten, pausing as the snake slid back up onto him. He looked at the red lion, before bowing his head. "Until next time." And then he was gone.
