I really like the Hyuuga Clan, Aburame Clan, and Nara Clan.
For obvious reasons. Their attacks are all gentle, but deadly. ;D

I like the Nara clan, with the shadows and everything... Even though Shikamaru is lazy in just about every aspect, he can still get the job done in a fight.

Not just about everyway. He's a pokerface.
That's what you're supposed to think, but not really.
Ever notice that in reality he has to practically carry his team on his back?
That he is the one on his team to not only learn the most techniques, but improve them?
He because a chuunin, through yes, believe it or not, effort.
If he was a lazy bum, had no morals, no desires, no needs, he would have forfieted before he did anything.

Point is, most people missunderstand him, and I don't see why. :[
So he takes naps.
So does Naruto. Kakashi.
Just not, "on screen." Dx
And
he does things people don't tend to notice.
Shogi. He plays shogi.
He reads. Reads books. That's right kids, books to him are NOT troublesome.
He's also pretty strong and flexible, and he's gotta get it from somewhere.
And someone like his dad wouldn't let him sit around 24-7.
Everytime you see his dad, he takes him off training.
And that's the time you see him. It's probably more.

Yes, I do of course realize all these things, as I actually consider him similar to myself in many parts of our personalities. If you will take notice, anytime he is faced in some sort of situation, he will say how troublesome it is, and how he wishes he could be somewhere else, staring up at the clouds.

Yes, he is a natural leader and strategist, but those are just things he doesn't always want to be, since he is naturally lazy until he is faced with something that forces him to work.

Even you hit on this when you said his dad has to take him training and that he plays shogi and reads books all the time instead of doing.

Also, take note that when I said lazy, I meant that he's lazy mostly about ninja stuff like training and fighting, not so much everything he does in life... I suppose I should have said that in the first place.

I hear that from every third fan of him and I don't believe it, unfortunately.
It takes someone that's pretty ******** up to tick like him, actually.
He is embarassed. He says that to cover up how much he truly enjoys fighting. xD

No, no, no. He likes that stuff. See, he's the type of guy who puts on a front. Constantly being teased by his dad and two friends, he feels a need to cover up what he enjoys. It's why he like shogi. If he didn't like strategy, he wouldn't talk about if for 3 pages. He could also quit being a ninja anytime, but DOESN'T.

Plus, he cried over a mission. That's a passion about his job if you ask me, considering he's the type of person who would NEVER cry in front of anyone.

He isn't forced. Even his dad said he could quit ANY TIME. The reason he doesn't is because he knows he is needed, AND, he honestly enjoys the job, or else he wouldn't be a ninja, but he'd be a spy, hunter, teacher, or something other. Chuunin have that choice. :3

People look at his outside. Not his clear inside. See, Kishimoto's a bright guy. He made his characters very carefully, and he put a lot of work into making Shikamaru a complex individual, but almost stereotypically average.

People don't get it. His little subtleties. He's obsessed with being a ninja, but hides it, and doesn't know how to handle it. I also suspect he's obsessed with girls, and hides that, too. Because no one taught him better. His dad was the same way, and sees nothing wrong with it. His mom doesn't see it; she thinks he's just a normal, growing boy. But by his age, he shouldn't act the way he does. ninja heart

Edit: Staring at the clouds has nothing to do with anything. xD
LOTS of people enjoy the skies; not just weirdos.
Even I, since I was VERY young, would stare at the sky for hours watching the birds, clouds, planes, and stars.
Pretty normal if you ask me.

Though OTHER PEOPLE, not just ME, say I'm just like him...
I just think Kishimoto stalked me with a pen...
It's kind of annoying having an anime character have your hobbies, likes, dislikes, etcetera just about down to your underwear. Dx

Anyway, you're right to a certain extent; in the beginning, he HATED it.
I'm talking more about the chuunin era He grew into liking it.
Just about the time he realized how important it was.
By 15, he seems to be way into the ninja thing.
His life seems to be all about it at that time.

I don't know many clans... and seeing as how the Uchiha clan is pretty much destroyed, I don't know if that counts. razz But I'll go with them blaugh
