Galning strutted out of his den and toward the main area of the pride where Thralls would bring several slaughtered herd beasts to serve as a common meal for those Freeborn who didn't feel like hunting. Galning knew himself to be an indifferent hunter most of the time, and was happy to let others perform that task for him. It freed up his time for other things.
Lately other things had mostly consisted of swaggering around feeling full of himself because he had gotten some tail on his first viking. Of course, he'd actually not been trying to get any, but that just proved how awesome he was. He got ladies without even trying. Well. A lady. And she wasn't particularly ladylike. But either way he was clearly the winner, and true to form he had been reliving his triumph in memory since he returned.

Dinner was a hallowed time for Bilijo. The highlight of her day. The pink lioness licked her lips as she stomped towards the dining area. She wondered what kind of beasts would be available for eating. No one could call Bilijo picky -- why, she would eat a week old warthog if she had to -- but she did like a little variety in her feasts. Just as she caught sight of the beasts laid out for her consumption, Bilijo noticed a dark lion heading her way. He was handsome (Bilijo had a definite preference for dark males), but Bilijo had other things on her mind. Three other things, in fact. Three big, delicious carcasses, just waiting for her to devour them. "I was here first, I'm first in line!" Bilijo said shrilly, darting in front of the other lion. She elbowed her way up to the fat wildebeest and shoved her face into its belly, seeking to suck as much delicious wildebeest into her mouth as was lionly possible. She wiggled her massive rump slightly as she did so, as a treat for the black lion. He might be miffed that she bullied her way in front of him, but surely the sight of her bountiful lady lumps would soothe and arouse him.

Always sensitive to perceived insults or slights, Galning was more than capable of sustaining a fantasy world wherein the pride was in awe of his prowess while simultaneously listening for any sort of thing that would contradict his imaginings. The shrill, shovy lioness didn't so much contradict his fantasy that he was a lauded hero as it did completely destroy it. What a voice!
"Gods, fine. It's yours, just don't say anything else," Galning said, hastily backing away in wide-eyed horror.
As he was retreating to another carcass he caught sight of her quivering hindquarters. It was not a nice sort of quivering, like when a well-formed lioness is anticipating something and is holding herself so tense her muscles shake. It was...more like the undulations of a hippo moving on land. Not sexy.
Unconsciously he let out a traumatized "Gah!"

There was a trick to swallowing as much food as possible. You had to kind of relax your throat, and let the food just slide down. Bilijo had perfected this trick through long experience. Sawing off a huge chunk of meat with her yellowed teeth, Bilijo picked it up and raised her head. Opening her mouth wide, she let gravity do its job and the impossibly large hunk of food slid down her throat. It was rather like watching a rock python swallow a gazelle.
Temporarily sated, Bilijo sauntered over to the dark lion. She had heard his delectable moan of sheer sexual arousal when he saw her bootyshake. This lion was hers for the taking. He was probably impressed by her massive height, her glorious girth, and her sheer gustatory fortitude. Who wouldn't be?
"Hey there, sexy," Bilijo purred. She smiled alluringly, the effect only slightly spoiled by the chunks of gristle lodged betwixt her gleaming corn-colored chompers.

It was nothing like watching a rock python swallow a gazelle.
It was like like watching a natural disaster.
Galning wanted to run away, but he was afraid to take his eyes off it just in case it came after him while he back was turned. Perhaps calling a warning to others would be sufficient. He might die in the process, but at least he would have saved the pride from this...
Oh, gods. Did she just call him sexy? He threw up a little in his mouth.
There was an audible gulp as he swallowed the bile that had risen when he caught a blimpse - glimpse! - of the food-bits lodged between her teeth.
"Please don't open your mouth," he begged.

Bilijo nodded slowly, favoring the dark lion with a saucy wink. Oh yeah. She knew what he was getting at. "That's fine, stud. We don't have to talk." She giggled girlishly, batting her eyelashes at him. All men were the same. So predictable.
Well, Bilijo didn't mind if he just wanted a feisty lay. She would go with this handsome stranger and teach him things about lovemaking that he had never even dreamed of.
And then he would fall in love with her and marry her and she would finally move out of her parents' den. Bilijo smiled at the thought. "Your place, or mine?" She idly reached out a claw and snagged a chunk of meat as she spoke, tossing it into her mouth without even thinking about it.

It took a moment for Galning to realize that her eye hadn't twitched as some sort of belated cue to warn others that she wasn't right in the head. No. That had been a wink. There were no words to describe the horror he felt, and so his silence probably fit right in with her assurances that talking was unnecessary.
"I'm just here for dinner," he said weakly.
As she snared another hunk of flesh and downed it casually Galning realized how his mother could be blind and yet still be so satisfied with her life. She had never had to see anything like this. For the first time in his life he envied her impairment.
"I don't even know you." It was probably too much to hope that would be a deterrent, but nevertheless he had to try. Otherwise he could easily imagine himself being knocked over the head with some portion of her mammoth anatomy and dragged by the tail to her den and then...
"Hurk!"

If Bilijo didn't know better, she would think this lion sounded reluctant. She chuckled. He sure was playing hard to get, wasn't he? First he practically accosted her sweet, sweet a** in the dining area, and now he was being all shy and flirty.
"I don't know you either," Bilijo purred. "It's so dirty, isn't it?" She giggled again and reached out her paw to snag another honkin' huge hunk of meat. Bilijo winked lasciviously at the dark lion as she snarfed it down easily, without even the slightest hint of discomfort.
She got first dibs on the meat, and now she was getting first dibs on some man meat.
Everything was coming up Bilijo.

"Uh. No. No," Galning stammered.
And there was that wink again. It sent shivers of the most unpleasant variety down his spine as his mind oh-so-helpfully supplied images of a stomach-churning variety relating to what her den might look like and the entirely likely possibility that if she ever got him there it would be like walking into the web of a spider. Probably she'd eat him when she was finished having her way with him.
There were two ways to deal with this, as Galning saw it. First, he could kill it, which would help him sleep more easily but would probably not be the most politick thing he could do. Second, he could flee. It wasn't very brave and Reaver-like, that second option, but if it didn't work he could always fall back on the first one.
He doubted it would be unsuccessful though. It was hard to believe someone her size and build could really generate a great deal of speed. At least as long as he didn't run downhill. She'd probably gather so much momentum on a downward run that she'd crush him into the dirt like a juggernaut. What a horrible way to die that would be.
"Excuse me. I've just remembered that I have a very important. Um. Goodbye!"
He turned tail and ran. Like the wind.

The dark lion might think a game of hide and seek was all fun and games, but it was awfully tiring for Bilijo. Her feet hurt if she had to walk too much. She wasn't about to go chasing after this fellow. It would waste all of her energy and she wouldn't be able to enjoy bumpin' uglies.
"But waiiiiiiitttttttroooooonnnnn," Bilijo called after him, her words melting into a strange whiny yowl.
When the lion didn't come back, Bilijo heaved an angry sigh and turned back to the carcass. That jerk, toying with her heart. Only one thing would soothe her. Delicious, delicious food.
