Obayana snarled and struck out at the other as they sparred, doing the best that he could. Unfortunately, he still wasn't doing well at all, and was rapidly losing this sparring match. Finally, it seemed as though Obayana had mysteriously managed to slip on some invisible peel and the other cub took the chance to round on him with a fierce kick, and he went flying straight into the ground. He was meet with the sound of a nearby nanny praising the victorious cub and snapping at him to do better. He huffed to himself, it wasn't his fault that he could fight.
It seemed weak to blame someone else for one's own incapabilities, but it was true and no one understood that. His very name was the curse that was laid upon him, and it had kept him in it's grip ever since. Obayana hated that every time he got into some sort of physical altercation, he somehow always got hurt or he would lose the fight. Even at times that it seemed impossible for him to lose or get hurt, he still did. With a sigh, he walked off to find someone else to lose to.

Obayana was huffing and sulking, though he would never admit to it. How would he ever get any better with his training if he couldn't even make it past a stupid spar? He hated the way some of their caretakers looked at him at times, like he hadn't been worth being brought here in the first place. Well, that hadn't been his fault either, he thought darkly. Even though he had adjusted to his new home now, he still thought of his mother now and then, and the outside world, but mostly his mother. He wondered what she would think if she saw her cubs now. Training, fighting, sparring, and getting stronger to prepare for an unknown future.
Obayana hadn't noticed the dark cheetah until he heard the elder's voice. Upon hearing it, he quickly turned to see Nyeusi standing behind him. "Oh, hi Mr. Nyeusi," he greeted the adult, but then said dejectedly,"Every time I try my hardest to fight, but I always lose." Listening to what Nyeusi was telling him, Obayana asked curiously,"Wait for them to tire themselves out? How can you win without fighting?" Obayana had learned that this world favored those who were strong and could best the competition, and his ideals of succeeding without fighting had taken a hard hit.

Obayana was a bit skeptical of Ny's words. In order to do what he was describing, he would have to be a heck of a lot quicker than he was now. Also, from what he'd heard from his brother, Lavanta was no pushover and he would have more than enough trouble working with her. Although, he couldn't see how he was getting stronger as he was. Besides, it couldn't hurt to try....much. "I guess it would be worth a shot," he said.
"That's my name," he confirmed. Listening closely to what Ny said, Obayana ultimately asked,"Well, if you can use your mind instead of fighting, then how can you train your mind?" The cub had come to similar conclusions before he had gotten discouraged, and there was still no way that he could win a fight using his head as he was.
