.:. The Old Blood .:.
- High Priestess -- colored by Hotaru-Neko - Information An original member, she has a name already; Junius and she's been seer rolled; she is a seer. That made her a candidate for the position of high priestess which she obtained in her early adulthood due to the previous high priest diying without an seer heir to take over. Junius, being the only option, was given the rank of high priestess. Junius is from a long-running family in the Mlima Tuokoa, something she's very proud of. Though there have always been rumors that her family is nothing but murderers, thieves and have been gunning for the throne since they joined. Her family has been the guards for as long as anyone can remember and it's a sort of tradition that the family join back when they resided in the forests. Though most of her family perished in the move to the mountains, leaving only her now to continue the family line.
She is an important character in the first metaplot! Please do not enter for her if you cannot roleplay her during that. It's likely going to happen within the first six months of the colony officially forming. In which she will act as one of the antagonists in the metaplot.
Please keep in mind that she will be an antagonist and is relatively bitter due to losing her family and being forced into a rank.Prompt 1 You were elected by the king and grand master to take the position of high priestess being the only option at the time. They could not leave the position open, lest Shan Furen become angered at the colony. You had to give up your previous rank of guard, a rank in which you were in the running to possibly become the new captain of the guard and join the priesthood. How do you react to being put in a rank of such power? Are you upset with the change of rank? Prompt 2 You're the new high priestess and having to adjust from being a guard to a priestess has been...difficult to say the least. Some of the others in the temple even jest that you have no right obtaining such a rank while others have been eyeing the rank for so long, hoping for seer powers to manifest. How do you react when you are told of these whispers that are spoken behind you back? Prompt 3 Wing it, but keep everything above in mind. [Sign me up: old blood]

- Hunter -- colored by Lithia_Brandon - You're similar to the leopardess above. You're a joining rogue, but you have a name; Abayomi. You're...different though. You're a lion joining a leopard colony. While they accept you for that, there are rank restrictions. You're a hunter and will be expected to change your rank to consort should you get a leopard or leopard hybrid mate. How do you take this? Why do you follow Heinrich?

Name: Abrihet Meaning: "She shines" Rank: Huntress Personality: Joyful, sometimes nervous when new, happy, can be gentle and nurturing, likes to be set as an example to the huntresses-in-training History: Before she even met Heinrich, her past was quite lovely but scary. When she was born, she had a gentle huntress for a mother, and a kind, strong warrior for a father. They were rouges though, ones who were abandoned from there prides and clans. When mother went to hunt, her father always played with her and kept her safe. When her mother was there, she was taught how to hunt. When she was in her Adolescent age, her father was fighting for their safety as they ran. When nightfall came, her mother went to find her father while she was on a tree, but got jumped when on the ground. After the enemy left, she saw her mother and father dead and ran away to another area of the rouge lands, and there she met Heinrich at a watering hole. When she was told to follow, she ended up seeing a group of others following him. As she followed him, he told of stories of their god and their home and was wanting to be part of it. Why did you choose to follow Heinrich?: Having no choice, she had to accept because if she stayed a rogue, she would die quickly unless in a clan so she had no choice but to follow. Future plots: After she was accepted, and became a huntress, she has to hunt everyday and enjoys it. She sometimes teaches the female adolescents how to hunt during a game and when she goes out for food. She does want to settle down and have a loving husband, along with cubs, even if she has to give up to be a consort, so till that time comes, she also makes friends. They only male she would love, as long as he is in the feline species, is a warrior, guard, or hunter and probably a medic.

Prompt Number: This is kind of mix between 1 and 2, but for the sake of the prompt, I'll just say 3. Prompt Response: The air was breezy and cool, wafting over the mountain like a gentle caress on the leaves of their old home. Junius was in the temple, looking up at the altar on which the various artifacts of the goddess were laid upon. The red leopard's eyes were closed as she prayed to the goddess, asking for another safe day in the mountains. Finishing the prayer, she sighed and turned from the altar, walking out of the temple and down a corridor to the main cavern. Guards she had been close with passed her by without looking at her, but their whispers could be heard as they were a few feet behind her. Why had everyone been so secretive around her lately? It wasn't as if she had asked for this position!
As she turned into the main cavern, she bowed to the King and Queen at their high steeps before walking toward the other guards. Then stopped. I'm not part of that world anymore... she thought as she turned from them and curled up at a far end of the cavern. She watched as the others went about their own business - the merchants bargained with some commoners, the two ladies-in-waiting gossiped among each other, and the two hunters came in to report their findings. It was just another normal day, but Junius couldn't help but wonder just what the two ladies-in-waiting were talking about because she noticed when they would glance in her direction and see that she was watching before turning away to talked hurriedly among themselves.
A consort came up to and said, "You know that they're talking about you, right? They're jealous of the rank you've gained in such a short time." Her look was sympathetic as she then wandered away to go and talk to a merchant. Junius was stunned. Random information, for one, and for another, they were talking about her?
Rising to her paws, Junius walked over to the ladies-in-waiting, her amber eyes staring at the two with blatant annoyance. "If you have an opinion on me or the rank I've obtained, then why do you talk amongst yourself instead of talking with me about it?" The two leopards looked shocked at what she was saying. Before they could defend themselves, Junius said, "I obtained this rank because I have gained the ability, from the goddess herself, of Sight. She obviously did not see either of you fit enough to be the Seer of the pride." With her head held high, Junius turned from the two and stalked back to the temple, breathing slowly and measurably so she could calm herself down.
I know you have granted me this gift, she thought to the goddess's altar once she was in front of it. She could almost see the goddess herself in front of her as she continued, I just hope your decision was the right one.
Personality: Junius is a bitter female that doesn't take kindly to others too quickly. Upon losing the majority of her family in the move, she has lost her fondness for the goddess, Shan Furen. She cannot comprehend as to why the goddess has "blessed" her with the gift of Sight, but not really having a choice in the matter, she accepted the gift and is now the voice behind the goddess. Though she keeps her true feelings to herself, she is not afraid to reprimand or praise another for their behavior in anything they do. She is proud, but not so prideful as to think she is better than everyone else. She can't stand rumors or dishonesty. Future plots: To find a mate - possibly she will be mated to someone she doesn't love (political reasons) but secretly meet her loved one on the side. This is the only real big plot I had in mind, but maybe also a "rebirth" or "rekindling" with the goddess in a vision or dream. It may make her less bitter.

Prompt Number: #1 Prompt Response:
"Out of my way!"
Junius scowled, her blazing, golden eyes narrowed in annoyance and frustration as a pair of young apprentices dawdled ahead of her, unknowingly blocking the mouth of the lower cave. Both younglings squeaked in alarm and quickly cowed out of the way of the temperamental priestess, but not before giving her a clipped apology. Had they noticed her coming, they most certainly would have ducked out of her way to begin with and she knew it. They respected her and she felt a brief flash of remorse over her own, snappish behavior. It didn't last long, however, and none of it shown on her firmly set visage. They weren't at fault, nor were most of the other colony members.
She blinked against the sun's early light and inhaled sharply, the chilly mountain air piercing at her lungs in a way that was steadily becoming familiar. She was no mountain cat, yet they were forced here, and she resented it, just as she resented the long journey and the fact that they were hiding, instead of exacting some sort of revenge on the lions that had forced them here.
She was no priestess.
She was a warrior, a fighter, just as her mother had been, before her. Just as her mother's mother had been. She was a rough creature, one who took a great amount of pride in her task, as was tradition within her family, who had served the Mlima Tuoka as guards for, well, what seemed like forever. Where there was the colony, there was her blood. Fangs and claws were always at the ready and she burned with shame when she thought of the horrors that had driven her beloved colony to such an altitude. She'd been a bit wet behind the ears when the onslaught occurred and witnessed her older brother's death at the claws of the lions. She'd been weak, then, and unexperienced, which made her only work that much harder, to avenge her brother and to prove her mettle to the colony...
What was certain was that she had no want to be the new High Priestess. Had she known as a cub that her "special gift" from Shan Furen would force her into a position that she, on some level, detested, she'd have never been so open about it. Of course, being High Priestess wasn't all bad. Her coat was as red as the fluid that ran beneath her pelt, a mark, they whispered, of how brutal her bloodlines could be. Murderers and thieves were feared, not so much respected. She might have been turned away from captaincy, but she found that within this rank that had been thrust upon her, she had obtained a certain rank of power, something she'd always lusted after. She'd never felt particularly religious and listening to Shan Furen was part of the deal, but her words carried more weight, her opinion more sway.
This was not what she expected, but she had no choice in the matter. She would make it work. The wilds were a harsh and unforgiving place. Her remaining relatives had been too weak to survive the trip to their current home. Her mother had been too old and frail, while her niece had been too young and inexperienced. She had to live on for them and if it was Shan Furen's way, she could not deny the position thrust upon her. She would make sure, however, that her own offspring would not forsake the way of the guard. As much as she loathed the sudden changes in her life, she had to admit that they could very well be for the better in the long run.
Hard eyes turned towards the sky, the rising sun causing it to streak with crimson and orange. Her morning duties had been completed and she longed so hard for the familiar duties that often came at this hour, in the old days. She wanted to patrol, but she couldn't risk bodily harm or death while only she remained as a seer.
"Junius! Junius!"
Her dark ears swiveled towards the being calling her name. The younger leopardess, a guard she had once served with, politely bowed her head slightly and Junius's expression softened at her familiarity.
"Don't bother with such formalities. I'm still me, regardless of what has happened." She murmured softly, her eyes flicking back towards the cave's mouth, which had been left behind by many paces. For some reason, it felt to her as though such words ought not be heard, yet she couldn't quite understand what brought such a strange notion into her head in the first place.
"Ha, you think I'd let 'em catch me being disrespectful to the High Priestess, then you've gone soft in the head." A light grin splayed across the younger leopardess's features as she bantered lightly with her former comrade in arms. She did not fear the blood red creature, nor did she have reason to, truthfully.
"It en't the same out there without ya, you know?"
"Oh, I know. Restless more than ever." She gave a slight sigh, but quickly stowed the more forlorn expression, which felt as foreign to her as it looked to her guard friend.
"Anyway, we're about to head out for a dawn patrol... If I see anything tasty, I'll bring it back to you, 'kay?"
"Sure, just don't eat it all, okay, butterball?"
"Pffff, so you could have it all for yourself, lardtail?" Junius smirked and pair laughed, though it was quickly cut off as they went their separate ways, to perform their separate duties. It felt strange and alien, but that was how life was. Things changed.
Personality: Though Junius has had a shorter temper since the forced move, she's never truly been a hateful or spiteful creature. In fact, in her younger days she was well known for her charisma and optimistic attitude towards life, as well as for having a sense of humor. That seemed to fall by the wayside with the death of her remaining family and she comes off as more callous, now that she's fighting internally with both the decisions of the colony and her own, internal decisions over the past few seasons. One thing that has never changed, however, is her want to succeed and stubborn determination to do so. She's always taken a great amount of pride in her physical and mental prowess, honing her skills so that she may one day succeed as captain. That fell by the wayside, too, though she won't let her disappointment show, as she is too proud to do otherwise. She certainly couldn't turn down the position and part of her is pleasantly comfortable with the notion of being in a position of power, though she also mourns her own dreams that had been dashed. Beneath her more grouchy exterior is a leopard who loves to laugh and loves to love, though she's been more guarded concerning both of these traits as of late. She relishes whatever time she can get with the few who still know how to make her smile. Future plots: Junius, though out of her element, will eventually fall into her position as High Priestess as though she had been born for the task. She doesn't see herself as particularly close to Shan Furen as someone of her position ought to be and often times heven doubts her abilities, though she'd never vocalize this to the colony. It would be awesome if she could eventually meet Shan Furen in roleplay. She's also got an intense desire to find a mate, if anything to carry on her bloodlines. To be so dangerously close to being wiped out has brought an internal fear she hasn't openly recognized. The weak bloodlines are the ones that die out, not the strong. Her family is strong... But fates seem to say otherwise, which does not bode well with her. Even though she is currently unhappy with her position in life, she won't shirk her duties and will do her best to perform for her colony, as she always has. Also, if anyone would like to step in and play her particular friend from the guard, that would be amazingly awesome.

Prompt Number: 1 Prompt Response:
Fools. The lot of them. What is a priestess, even a high priestess, when we are so weak and in need of protection? What does she do that can make the colony stronger? She is nothing! Yet here I am, transferred to a position I did not want, into an area I did not train in, and leaving the colony vulnerable for more attacks from the mangy lowlifes who destroyed us before.
Yes King, I take this spot as my own as you command because I will not betray what I have always been loyal to, but do not take this as acceptance. I am not here because I want to. I am here because San Furen thought it would be humorous to 'gift' me with her power, when she knows my family has no use for such a thing. What a cruel and cunning trick she has played.
Standing before them all as the announcement is made I watch their faces. The stricken look of those who shall now work under me, the shocked and upset faces of my companions who I have grown up with, taught under, who are the only ones I can even consider family. Yes let them all cheer that I am here when we all know I am the last person who should ever be in this position.
The only thing that pleases me is seeing the few horrified faces of the filth that have been tracked in. The few lions they have accepted into our home, who know of my hatred. Oh how I can read their disgust. It fills me with pride and with smug enjoyment. From such a high position who knows what I could do to them and get away with it? They know it, they hate it, and I love that they do.
Perhaps.......perhaps with this I can avenge my family. In the name of the Goddess I promise this, those lions will pay.
Personality: Junius is going to be very cynical no matter the situation. Though she cares for the colony, she doesn't just follow it's every wish, sometimes preferring to ignore what's happening for her own plans. She doesn't always act like a high priestess should, tending to bring her hunter training into her new job. Her bitterness over her family's death is a deep and vengeful one and because of this she hates lions and strongly believes they shouldn't be allowed into the colony. She doesn't accept her seer blood, and often times ignores her visions in favor of her own personal views. Though she can be kind, it's often in short bursts. She understands the need for her to mate, particularly with her high position and as she's the last in her line, but she will probably never truly love. It's just not her. Future plots: My main plans for Jun is to have her entire life be a struggle. She's going to struggle with her new position and the fact she will never get the life she actually enjoyed back. She'll be struggling with her own ambition and will against what the King, Queen and colony want. But her biggest struggle will be with her utter hatred for lions. I would love if her hatred led to problems in the colony which can be used either in future metas or just in general rp. Of course there's also finding her a mate, who will have to fit her strict criteria, who will help her carry on her line and make the colony stronger.

Name: Ahonui Meaning: Patience; patient, enduring Rank: Storyteller Personality: Much like her name Ahonui has grand amounts of patience, she is the type of leopardess who can literally sit for hours listening to other's talk, planning a hunt, or even just relaxing. She enjoys cubs very much and has more patience for them then most, not minding at all being climbed on or having her tail become a game of tug a war. Ahonui enjoys hearing stories and telling them, and will ask to hear on over and over again until she remember every detail, it can be a bit annoying, but she means well. History: She was born into a very large litter, unusually so and right from the start her parents were always getting her and her very similar looking siblings mixed up. She had a sister how almost looked just like her except from one extra marking. She was often called by every name, but her own, but it didn't bother her. Unlike her parents, she remembered all her siblings name and was always helping her parents sort everyone out. It was how she developed so much patience, when your wrangling your brothers and sisters all day you have to have patience.
Aho enjoyed her life and having adventure with her siblings, recounting them in vivid detail before bed. Her siblings loved her and she was really the light of the family. It was obvious, in the way that they clambered for her attention even though it wasn't necessary. She always made time for everyone.
Her siblings left one by one as they reached adolescence and their parents had another litter, smaller this time, just four cubs. It was crowded with them all about, but Aho chose to stay with her parents and help them raise her little siblings. By the time the cubs were rambunctious juveniles Aho's parents were thinking that despite all Aho's wonderful help, it was time for the girl to start her own life and so they told Aho that it was time for her to move onto the next phase of her life.
It saddened Aho to go, but she moved on without complaint promising to check in on her parents and siblings one day. It was then that she started her travels and getting to know the world. Why did you choose to follow Heinrich?: The stories of the mountains and the pride intrigued her, she wished to see it for herself. It seemed like a grand adventure to her and the journey, reaching their destination, would make for a grand story. Future plots: *Learning the pride history* --- I would love for her to learn and learn it well, so that she might be able to really keep a good record and be able to tell it well. She will probably spend time talking to anyone she can about the pride especially the royalty. *Apprentices* --- I would love her to hopefully interest a cub or two with her stories enough for them to wish to apprentice under her when they reach adolescence. She could spend time with them from cubhood on up and become like an aunt to the cub or cubs. *Love* --- Something out of the ordinary, not really sure what, but I would for her future romance to be something different and unique. Still unsure what it will be.

Prompt Number: 2 Prompt Response: Her lips curled high over strong white teeth, a low snarl rumbling from deep in her chest. The fools! She snarled o herself mentally, tail lashing as she glared across at the small gaggle of idiots who had been whispering a moment ago but had stopped as soon as she rounded the corner. It was so painfully obvious it was she they had been discussing, did they really believe she was ignorant of what they said behind her back and even, sometimes, to her face?
Flexing her claws into the earth under her paws she snarled low and angry at them, watching with satisfaction as a couple of them stepped back, fear momentarily etched into their expressions. So stupid, so ambitious, but for what? Not one of them had any kind of seer power, no hope of ever attaining the position they so coveted, yet they seemed intent on blaming her for their own lack of ability. Their blind hatred infuriated her, compounded by the fact that she didn't want the 'glory' that had been given to her. So much fuss over something none of them had any control over, and yet they persisted in blaming her, in envying her. If she could, she would have given them their stupid ranking! She didn't want it! She hadn't asked for any such 'honour'! She had been on her own path, well on her way to the title of Captain. Who in their right mind would give up that for being some seer kook?! She was strong and skilled, no one messed with her as a guard. She had demanded and received respect int he pride. But now they whispered about her, plotted and schemed behind her back... it was maddening!
The only upside was the very skills she was being forced to abandon. Not one of the fools dared to challenge her, none of them had the guts or the ability to defeat her in combat. It gave her some measure of satisfaction to threaten them when ever she caught them talking about her. The idiots could whisper as much as they liked, but if she ever heard what was said, they received a swift paw to their face or rump.It was small compensation for having her desired life ripped away from her, but she would take what she could get.
Snarling a warning once again she curled her lip in distaste and stalked past, head and tail high. They may hate her, but they were forced to obey her... Maybe there was some light in this miserable situation after all... She thought smugly.
Personality: Cold and aloof, she had been dedicated to her Guard work and took pride in her family bloodline before she had been given the role of High Priestess. Now she is angry and bitter over having her own life dictated by another and out of her control. This makes her even more short tempered than she used to be, and she had never been known as having much patience to begin with. Cold and distant now she distrusts everyone around her, though still believes in the pride that her family has served for generations.
She takes great pleasure in flaunting her abilities in front of those that torment her, using their jealousy against them as she knows they desperately want the powers she was given unwillingly. She devises many ways of doing this and as part of that makes a 'show' out of using her power, often covering herself in the blood of her prey before going into a trance. The more gruesome and overt the spectacle, the more annoyed it makes those that are jealous of her, which is about the only pleasure she can derive from the entire situation. Future plots: She actually hates her seer ability, but she will learn how to make use of it to benefit her own position as well as the pride and will eventually come to accept it, however begrudgingly, as a part of her.

Name: Vardah Meaning: “rose” Rank: Lady-in-Waiting Personality: Vardah is a survivor. She does what she needs to survive. It is a huge step that she is attempting to get along in a colony considering how solitary she used to be. She knows that adaption is what separates the survivors from the dead, so she will do her best to adapt to any situation. After losing her three cubs, she has become quite protective of cubs, not wanting to see one hurt. Her party days are over and she has a more serious attitude about life. History: Vardah was raised only by her mother. She was the only cub born of her parents or she hopes that is true. Her father abandoned her mother after he found out she was pregnant. He wasn't looking for a family. She doesn't even know what he looked like. Her mother could barely even be classified as a mother. Vardah would have to follow her mother when she would hunt just to eat as a cub. At about four months old, her mother abandoned her in the night. Vardah actually didn't have a name at the time. It was a name she gave herself. A name she heard upon the lips of a couple of old lions that had been having a conversation.
Vardah knows well the hardships of surviving. One would think that it would have made her hard and uncaring. In a way, she is but mostly she just became a party animal. Traveling far and wide, having flings with any male that caught her fancy. She did stupid things like bursting into a stampede of wildebeest. Somehow she survived her own stupidity.
It wasn't until something drastic happened that she had a change in how she viewed life. It was after a fling. Vardah never stayed long after one, so how would she know what would happen. The seed of the male took to her and she found herself carrying. On the day she went into labor, she knew something was wrong. It was way beyond painful. She blacked out from it. When she woke, she found three stillborn cubs and the smell of blood was strong. Her heart broke for the first time and she cried, truly understanding what loss was in that moment.
It was a few days after that Heinrich found her. She had no will to live at the time. He gave her the will to live again with his stories of his home. Vardah was so vulnerable at the time that she quickly fell for him. In the wake of such loss, she found an anchor and followed him to a new home. Vardah was not happy to find out that he had a queen but luck made her a lady-in-waiting. It was close enough for her. Why did you choose to follow Heinrich?: Vardah will never let it get out but she is in love with Heinrich. Perhaps it was because he saved her life. All she knows is that she loves him and will do anything to stay by his side, even if it means tending to his queen. She is happy to just support him and be near. Future plots: I would love to show her jealousy towards the queen, maybe with some interactions with the queen. One day, she will hopefully find a mate that would be a devoted father to her cubs. She doesn't want to be like her mother and will want a mate that will stay around.
[Sign me up: odd one out]
Personality: Abayomi is a very quiet one. She only speaks when spoken to and makes an excellent follower. She tends to keep to herself and is a hard worker. Abayomi is not shy, she has just always been quiet. Despite her slightly anti-social ways, she likes being around others and gets along well with most animals. She does not know the ways of mating and in this sense is very innocent. Around males that show interest in her, she tends to be very meek and tends to go along with what they want. History: Abayomi grew up in a big litter of cubs. She was neither the youngest nor oldest. Being a middle cub, she didn't have that much attention cast her way. It was alright with her since she was content to sit by herself and watch what went on around her.
That is how she lived with her family until she became an adolescent. Her parents then sent them all in separate directions, wanting them to live on their own. This was extremely hard for Abayomi. Despite not socializing much, she really loved being with her family. Since she had never taken the initiative to be aggressive in hunting or scouting, she was very inexperienced on her own. It was hard to come by meals.
Then she met a male lion around her age. He was everything she was not, aggressive, talkative, and experienced in the world. She stayed with him even though he frequently tried to shake her off his trail. Abayomi wanted the company. Eventually he learned to tolerate her and even to love her, if only as a sister. They grew to be comfortable with each other and he soon taught her all the things she didn't learn from her parents. She became much better at hunting under his guidance. One day they were attacked by a pack of hyenas. She doesn't know if he lives or not. He stayed behind to allow her time to escape. Abayomi had refused at first but then he gave a good reason, she would be a distraction and he might get hurt if she stayed.
Abayomi prays everyday to the gods that he survived. She soon stumbled upon Heinrich's group. The company was too much to pass up and she followed them. Eventually she grew comfortable enough to have small conversations with those that approached her. Now she looks forward to living with Heinrich's colony, even if she is a lion. Why did you choose to follow Heinrich?: He was nice enough and they accepted her. That is a good enough reason for her. Abayomi is just glad to have company. Future plots: I want Abayomi to try to learn the ways of a leopard. She knows she is not one but she will do her best to fit in. A talkative or outgoing friend would be great too. She is so quiet that adventures are hard to come by. A friend to drag her into things would be great. I want Abayomi to find a mate within the colony. Maybe one that is everything she is not. Of course, she may not be too good at being intimate.
