So the new Australian Tourism Ad has just been released with the controversial swear word 'bloody', in it.

News 24
It begins with characters saying: "We've poured you a beer and we've had the camels shampooed, we've saved you a spot on the beach... and we've got the sharks out of the pool."
A bikini-clad woman then asks: "So where the bloody hell are you?"

The ad campaign will target potential tourists in China, Japan, India, the United States, Germany and Britain and would be rolled out in the next few weeks.

So what do you guys think of the new advertising campaign?

I think it's alright when you watch the whole ad which can be seen here - http://www.wherethebloodyhellareyou.com/ in context it isn't too bad.

It does seem to make us look a little backwater maybe >>

I was kind of upset that they didn't show any part of our cities instead focusing on the outback. I love the Melbourne tourism ads n______n

I guess a city is pretty much a city.

I dont mind it. I think the grl in it is cute so I am way too biased though.

AS for the swearing, better ppl realise before they turn up
than be shocked when they get here.

Besides, after watching South Park for a few years, Bloody is nothing.

I don't see what the big hoo ha about it is...
I personally don't know a single person who says 'where the bloody hell are ya'

If it said 'where the ******** are ya' like most of us say (i'm sure) then they could complain...
but all in all, I think it's an effective ad.

@ Ozumou - The girl is pretty @-@, They used all 'regular' Australian people for this ad. Which is unusual since they usually use our 'icons' eg Paul Hogan, Elle Macpherson. I don't think we swear that much do we?
:9

@ Ethuil - Yeah they did make a big HOOHA about it n__n
And I also don't know anyone who says "Where the bloody hell are ya?"

@ bebe Kiki - Bloody Oath!

I would like to be the first to point out that this add would be breaching PG13 laws if it was Aired.

It contains an Image of a n****e. That is right, a n****e.

In the scene where the Bikini girl goes "So where the bloody hell are you"
Her right n****e is visable for about half a second.

Not much you say, It was enough for me to Bloody notice, that has got to count.

*goes to watch it more*

I have to agree, I have rarely heard anyone say where the bloody hell are ya, its just too long to roll off the tongue.

I have not seen any n****e slip. Mabe I have not paid close enough attention.

But I do think Australians swear a fair bit more casually than Americans or English of the same socio-economic background. I am not sure if it is correct, but it is an impression which is obviously being played off.

And she may be a real person not Elle, but she is still well cute!

I think it is really good. I mean it might just be showing the more touristy things, but hey with the commonwealth games coming up soon- we want people to see more of the country than just Melbourne.

i think there didn't show alot of the cities because there melbourne and Sydney and all that would be fighting over how much screen time there got so there probadly decided to just not show the cities at all

i know most aussie don't go 'where the bloody hell are ya' but it more about the bloody there the rest of the sentence

and the ad looks pretty good i don't know why the hell there all crazy over it! one bloody sentence and there all pissed! (lol i say bloody)

@Warrior Shadow - HOMANS I broke the Gaia TOS then ;____;

srsly I can't see it?

@Manager Kyoto - True, besides it's very hard to compete against those great cities like London, Paris, New york and Tokyo to name a few..

@Guardian Fairy - lawl - probably, did you here about Sydney being 'upset' because Melbourne got a bomb threat by Osma Bin Ladin and they didn't - ROFL.

@ nrasjaa - I agree 100%. YOU, wtf.. thats not how you say it at all D:<

@DNA_Guru - Beggar's can't be choosers T-T
Isn't the tourism industry dying slowly over here because of all the terrorist stuff?

@Lilah-Clover ~ Ahh Rove has started back up again! I didn't get to watch it? was it good?
You know, all that we really would have needed was a big sign saying BEER HERE MATE

That's what I sort of thought as well.

It's these ads which only help propogate an unrealistic image of Australia.

But then, when internationals come for a holiday, they don't want a place which is almost like home, they want something different.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the bloody part!

Pffft, I couldn't care less.

turned up occasionally during the day when it first aired too.

So long as its not used in an offensive context its fine.
