. [ Double Dawnwalker Cub Contest ] .
April 5th to April 19th, 3PM CST

User Image

  • Don't be a jerk. That's my main rule in this.
  • Shop rules still apply, as always.
  • Please read up on the pride before entering! Click the banner above.
  • We reserve the right to not give any of the cubs away for any reason.
  • The cubs will all stay in the Tuait-tekem with their parents until adulthood. If the pride disbands before then, they will move as a family. Once they are adults, they may leave their parents and do whatever they wish. This rule applies to customs through regular custom, base litter, custom-ins and staff custom-ins.
  • This contest will be open for two weeks, mainly to give everyone a chance to enter, hopefully no matter how busy their schedule, not because we love long contests. Well...that too.
  • If you meet the qualifications for both cubs, you may enter for both however you may only win one.
  • If you are a staff member and would like to staff custom into the litter, please PM either Mia Sharra or I.

. [ The Parents ] .

Jarkevaa (Mia Sharra) - the father
blurb here

Kujali (Quaji) - the mother
As the mother of the litter and a nanny in general, Kujali is a playful lioness despite getting close to a venerable age.
While she will be around her cubs at all time, she will not be playing with them as she'll be recovering from labor and having carried ten cubs.
She loves all of her family dearly and will raise them to the best of her abilities despite her weakness.

. [ The Cubs ] .

Luxe (Quaji) - the oldest
He's fabulous.
This boy loves to care for his mane, his fur, and your fur.
He also has a strange love for flowers, possibly because of the smell and their rarity in the desert.

Villi'tamma (Mia Sharra) - the second born

Ushas (Selanatis) - the third born

Girl Cub (Not Owned)

Boy Cub (Now Owned)

Starga'e (Tara) - the stargazer

Unnamed (Ecavi) -

Unnamed (Ririka) -

Unnamed (Ameh) - the herp

Unnamed (Ameh) - the derp

Unnamed (AnimeChickie)

Ayofemi (Schicksalswende) - the storyteller
A big ball of happiness, he likes being happy and loves it even more, to make others happy.
Particularly, he'll look out for another's happiness first, because once he knows someone else is happy, then Ayo will be happy too.
He can be a little dense sometimes and has an overactive imagination, perhaps because of Daddy's stories.
Ayofemi will always enjoy hearing the wild tales of wanderlust each and everytime.
Even if he's heard them before, he'll want to hear the stories all over again!

He loves stories, anyway. Want to distract him? Tell him an awesome tale.

Leivaloa (Mia Sharra) - the explorer

Hime (Quaji) - the youngest
A bundle of energy, Hime plays with anything that moves. This, to her parents' dismay includes scorpions and snakes.
She'll develop a crush on Chippe, one of Feleji's grandchildren, at an early age and eventually become his mate when she becomes an adult.

. [ The Extended Family ] .

Asante (Ecavi) - Half Sister to the Litter, daughter of Kujali and Dagny (Zingling)
Will be visiting quite often to help out with her family.

Thaddaeus (Ecavi) - Friend of Asante
He'll be occasionally tagging along with Asante when she comes to visit and help out with her half siblings.
The family doesn't know much more then that. He's not actively coming with her yet, but will be in the near future.

Nyati (Quaji) - Friend of the Family
A seer, born to the god of patience and also from a large litter, Nyati will be aiding the family in watching the huge litter.
She's on a personal quest to find her father and will be leaving the pride eventually as it takes her out into the rogue lands.

Feleji (Soarin`) - Friend of the Family/Back-up cubsitter
Better known as the pride's father, Feleji is a nanny to all and a sort of adopted member into every family. This comes from him being in the pride for what seems like ever.
He's likely to hug you. Hard.
Due to his experience handling cubs, he will be aiding in watching the cubs and will act as a sort of 'uncle' to them all.

[Prompts]
1. You're in the middle of the litter. You're neither the youngest or the oldest, not even close. Your youngest siblings, especially Hime and Leivaloa seem to get a lot of the attention though they're also much smaller then you. While your older siblings seem to get more responsibility when it comes to watching the rest of your littermates. Does the relaxed responsibilities that come with being middle-born suit you? Do you hate it and want to be looked to when your siblings need help?

2. Feleji's watching the litter with Jarkevaa while Kujali rests. He's an interesting fellow to say the least. What are your thoughts on having help with your raising? Do you enjoy having another family so close to yours or does making your already big family bigger bother you?
SIDE PLOT: Do you take the chance of not having your mother's watchful eyes to slip out and explore the temple? Tell us about it if you do!

3. Hime and Leivaloa both wanna play! Of course their rough playing and high energy despite being so small and the youngest two is well known in the litter. Hime in particular enjoys playing on the dangerous side. Do you tag along, worm your way out, what?

4. Wing it! Creativity is key here.

[Prompts]
1. You have eleven a lot other siblings. That's not counting your half-sister. How in the world do you handle having so many littermates?! Is it a great thing having so many other cubs to play with? Not only your littermates but Feleji's family as well. Is it horrible to never really get time to yourself with having eleven other shadows?

2. Luxe needs your help finding a rare flower that is said to grow in the oasis that's not too far from the temple. Nyati has agreed to escort you and your older brother there since it's away from the temple and you need an adult to go outside of it. How did you manage to convince her to do this? Do you con her into this, blackmail, puppy dog eyes? Tell us how! Is this done with your parents' permission or not? (You are allowed to minimally play Nyati and Luxe for this.) Did you manage to find the flower? Did something happen that made you turn back?

3. Hime and Leivaloa both wanna play! Of course their rough playing and high energy despite being so small and the youngest two is well known in the litter. Hime in particular enjoys playing on the dangerous side. Do you tag along, worm your way out, what?

. [ Male Cub Plz ] .

Name: Tumaini
Name Origin: Egyptian - Meaning "Hope"
Future Rank: Acolyte

RP Prompt #: Mostly three, with a dash of one!
Prompt Response:

It was a good thing Tumaini was gregarious by nature, else he might have found himself a bit in over his head simply by waking from a good night's sleep. The youngster was absolutely surrounded by other small, squirming bodies nearly all of the time.

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssseeeeeee?"

Hime's voice sliced through the warm afternoon and Tumaini yawned, roused from his afternoon nap, which he had been taking in the temple's open courtyard. Though well shaded, the little lion had found a nice, fairly sunny patch and the sun's light casted shadows of leaves dappling across his pelt. He turned a golden eye towards the smaller cubs, knowing full well that he'd not like what was to come completely, but at the same time, he couldn't completely disregard them. Hime and Leivaloa were the smallest and though he was just a middle cub, he had to keep an eye on them... Especially if the larger, older cubs were not! There was no telling what these two would do on their own. Er, well, there was telling and it was usually something unsafe.

He loved them dearly, though, just as he loved all of his vast multitudes of siblings. He didn't exactly prefer being alone, the silence was almost too much to bear. As much as a full nap would have been nice, he harbored no ill will or impatience towards the two, but that didn't stop him from gawking at their request. He was gullible and they knew it, just as many of the others knew it. He was the naive and trusting sort, something that he certainly wouldn't just grow up and out of any time soon.

"Momma said it was okaaaaaaaaay."

"Just not to go in the shrines."

"Nope, not allowed in the shrines, ever."

He watched them incredulously, a slight frown playing across his dark lips. No way would his mother ever condone that... Would she? Cubs were small food-things and to stray out that far, even in the temple. What if a big ol' bird came down! Or what if...

"I don' see how momma would agree to that." His brow furrowed. "I dunno how to swim and I doubt that ya'll have learned, already."

"But we gotta learn and she did say it was ok! We're going with or without you, cos we wanna play in the water." Hime challenged, knowing full well that Tumaini would follow. It was either follow or tattle on them and no one liked to be a tattletale. The slightly older male groaned inwardly as he pushed himself up to his dark stockinged legs and stretched each limb luxuriously.

"Fine, but you gotta listen to me, ok?" He followed after the bouncing pair. In a way, he was glad he was included in on their little adventure to the lake, which he had only seen once thus far. It was beautiful and the fragrance was wonderful. They were absolutely forbidden to touch down on the other side, on the island, however, something he kept stressing repeatedly. He loved to play and, after feeling guilty for a wee bit, he began to relax and batted at their tails, delighted by they giggles of delight as they followed the lake path and came to the water's edge. It was cool and crisp. The lilies were just as beautiful as he remembered.

He sure hoped the pair weren't lying, else they'd probably be in a heap of trouble, if they were caught. That fear didn't keep him from dipping his white toes in the water, however, and he splashed a paw full of water at the pair in delight. Oh, this would be so much fun!

Possible Future Plots: Tumaini wants to be a nanny, but he doesn't quite have the knack for controlling younger lions, not like he thinks he can. He loves to play and he loves to spoil them rotten, but he's so young in personality, himself, that it really just isn't suiting. Instead, he'll follow a more religious path, perhaps even pressured in to it by other pride members, due to a need for priests. He'll eventually become an acolyte and will settle fairly well into the role, though his first time learning and handling the death rites will be unsettling to him. He'll eventually want to settle down and have cubs of his own, but until then, he'll be happy just playing with the pride's young as an uncle. It's always nice to play with other people's kids, cos you can hand them back when you get tired. He'll not have children until he's mentally capable of handling a mass multitude of youngsters as a parent, not just a friend. A few little misadventures as a cub and adolescent would be fun, too! I reckon he'd follow his younger siblings to the end of the earth, whether he agreed with what they were doing or not.
Do they plan on leaving the pride?: As far as foreseen futures go, he plans on sticking with the pride through the end of his days. Depending on future pride plots and what not, such things could be up in the air, but I wouldn't have him leave unless it was for something important, like a pride meta.
How many Dawnwalkers do you own?: None!

. [ Female Cub Plz ] .

Name: Ger (silent)
Name Origin: Egyptian
Future Rank: Scribe

RP Prompt #: 1-3
Prompt Response:

Ger watched her youngest sisters cavort and play-fight with each other. There was something utterly exhausting about watching the two of them together. She snorted and shook her head. The adults, parents and otherwise, seemed to spend most of their time and attention on both the oldest and the youngest in the litter. Smack dab in the middle, Ger was often overlooked and sometimes outright ignored.

She made a fuss, of course, when asked about it. But in secret she delighted in this lack of focus. She didn't want responsibility and she didn't need attention. The cub would much rather take advantage of her many siblings distracting the adults by slipping away to explore.

The temple was huge, with more rooms than Ger could count and every time she snuck out of Jarkevaa and Kujali's den, she made it her goal to find something new, that she had not seen before. Room by room, column by column, carved and painted panel by panel, she began to learn the massive complex. There were so many wonders in the temple that Ger could find. Images in all sorts of colors and sizes. Some even stretched from near the floor all the way up to the ceiling where she could not make out the pictures. Every bit held some sort of value in the cub's eyes. If it didn't, why would the two-leggers have drawn it? And why wouldn't the Kings and Queens and Priests have scratched it out. Sometimes she would hide in the shadows and watch what older lions did (or did not do). On a few occassions, her white ears and paws gave her away, reflecting light where none should be.

When that happened, Ger was invariably returned to her family with a reminder not to wander. The lioness always gave this the mental snort she felt it deserved and promptly resolved to do whatever interested her most. Petty arguments with her siblings were a waste of time, and responsibilities meant that she wouldn't have any time for herself, even if they were all just cubs. Being in the overlooked middle, one of the adults would have to sit on her in order to keep her in the den. There were simply too many cubs, though, for that to be practical.

Thus Ger felt free to explore her home, the heart of her pride. In learning the temple, she grew to value it. Though she did not understand most of what she saw, she knew there was meaning and hungered to learn it. So those whom she shadowed most were the Scribes she wished to join one day.

Possible Future Plots: With a name meaning Silent, I believe I'd like Ger to become mute at some point. I'm not sure yet if it would be an injury, a disease, or a vow - I'd have to see how her RP interactions were going and what was going on in the pride. This would have the result of her becoming even more focused on observation, what she sees and how others see her actions.

. [ Male Cub Plz ] .

Name: Iahmwangaza'macho
Name Origin: Swahili for "Eye Fixed On Iah", named for his passable resemblance to the pale moon, of which Iah is a lesser known God of.
Future Rank: Acolyte

RP Prompt #: 4 - Wing It!
Prompt Response:

The claw was quite insistent upon the armoured shell of the beetle. It refused to extract itself from its curled position, and the claw prodded again, the little life form rolling a fair way before coming to a halt once more. No longer interested, attention diverted, the harasser turned his attention to the desert beyond the temple, and the little beetle took its chance, unrolled, and scurried away before the lion cub could once more turn his attention on it. The pale golden eyes were wide, but emotionless; eyes that seemed unaffected both by the beauty about him, and the boredom that seemed to affect his limbs, their restless twitching unnoticed.

Iahmwangaza'macho huffed a little sigh, eyes turning to the other cubs of his immense litter playing. The nanny was taking care to watch the lonely, self-segregated cub, but knew the male to be a calm and well behaved little cub, so little interest was paid to his solitary musings. The other cubs had dubbed Iahmwangaza'macho as a little bizarre. It was true, he took great pleasure in things that lacked life, and watched from afar the tasked of the Acolytes. He prodded at prey brought to him, inspecting the inner workings of this body that no longer worked. He came to appreciate the way blood flowed, organs shifted to the touch, the smells of decay. These learning processes were more interesting to the cub then the games of his fellows and so he separated himself from them, distanced himself, and learnt the tasks of the Acolytes, and what it would mean to follow his desires.

Today there was no prey, no lifeless creature to inspect; just games. Beetles and bugs were all very well, but in Iahmwangaza'macho's view, they lacked the spirit that made them interesting to look upon, to inspect and identify. They were pretty, and they had many complex forms, but they didn't bleed, didn't have muscles like he did, or his prey and dinner. They were gooey, for lack of a better word! They were crunchy and gooey, and Iahmwangaza'macho didn't like to learn about them, hence why the beetle had escaped unscathed. Plopping his head back down onto his paws, pale golden eyes watched the antics of his siblings. Why did they play so? Did they not see they were childish? Did they not see that there were important things to learn? Sure, they got lessons, but they just wanted to play all the time. Again, that huff, this time more of exasperation. He had an old head on young shoulders, he'd been told. It wasn't exactly something he agreed with though. He had a knowledge thirsty head, a head that refused to be stagnant! It wanted to learn!

The sun crawled slowly across the sky, illuminating the desert. Out there, there were things dying and being born, and Iahmwangaza'macho could not witness it! It infuriated him, and made him long to be an adult, able to strike out and learn, and return with his findings. He prayed to the Gods that they let him grow quickly, so he may start his learning with the Acolytes. He had decided early that this would be his calling. His obsession with the way the body worked seemed only fitting. He would prove useful, he just KNEW it! The beetle returned, and Iahmwangaza'macho used a claw to flick it from the edge of the temple steps he had sat himself upon. It flew through the air, curled up, and then snapped open its carapace to release its wings, and it buzzed off. Golden eyes narrowed in annoyance. His toy had escaped him, and now, once more he was a solitary being on the steps. Standing, he made his way down to where his siblings played, all of them together, and he settled himself to one side, toying idly with a blade of brown grass that had taken root amongst the stones and rocks of the ruins, chewing on it whilst watching the games of his fellows.

One day, he would show them that playing forever and a day was not conducive to success!!

Possible Future Plots: Um... I don't know really! Just see what comes my way! I'm thinking he'll become quite an obsessive Acolyte, and be a little obsessed with the internment of the dead, and I'd be interested in him potentially breeding with a Goddess affiliated with Death domains, or potentially be Cursed by one!

Name: Paru-shu (INCREDIBlY roughly... The lion (of/and) light)
Name Origin: Egyptian
Future Rank: Artisan

RP Prompt #: 1
Prompt Response: Paru rose the same way every morning. Before the sun peeked over the horizon and the temples, the cub was up, carefully picking his way across his brothers and sisters. He didn't usually go far, preferring to play with what muds he could close to the den. He rather liked being close to so many siblings at night, when it got colder, because that meant they could all stay warm. But when the sun came up... He wanted some time to himself.

This morning was no different, as he carefully stepped over a brother's leg, a sister's tail... Dad's paw... He was soon enough just outside their living space amid the temples, gathering what plants he could. Precious moisture was wrung out of them, and he was soon mixing everything with bits of dirt until he'd made himself some paints of different shades of green.

The first mark was the easy part, building from it the hard part. He'd soon covered another patch of wall with the makings of a larger picture, and he backed up to admire it. It had taken him six suns, but he'd finally finished... His mother. Just... A lot more lions to go. But he was proud of his early-morning painting. The cub let out a happy sigh, then turned and hurried back to his parents and littermates.

As one of the smallest(He wasn't sure just who was THE smallest, but there were a couple of them), Paru-shu was able to easily get lost in the crowd. There were plenty of times he didn't like that, but there were plenty of others he enjoyed it. As a single mass, they were like one lion, close and cozy. In the times he didn't like it, he wanted nothing more than undivided attention from someone, ANYONE, even one of the local gods. He made it all work, though, finding a balance between his brothers and sisters, his personal alone time, and one-on-one time, even if the last one was the hardest to come by.

At least, he figured, they all knew they did well in groups. Settling back amid his brothers and sisters, Paru let out a small yawn, then curled up and went back to sleep. There was another hour before everybody'd be roused for their daily lessons... He had time to sleep.

Possible Future Plots: Adventuring, likely. I can see him going out to explore the world, and returning home periodically to tell others about it and paint it all over the walls. Like... A mural of everything he's seen and experienced, and some stuff others have told him.
Do they plan on leaving the pride?: That's actually an up-in-the-air answer. If I spy something that says "This is so x!", he MIGHT. If not, then... Not unless the pride disbands. Again, this depends on if something pops up that says "This is so x!" or not.
How many Dawnwalkers do you own?: 3-4(One has plots I need to finish before he does his JRP for the pride, the other three are a family that lives in the pride. The mother was born in the pride(Prior to the lineart), the father is an ex-Firekin, and the third is their daughter).

Name: Sanaa
Name Origin: Brilliance
Future Rank: Hunter

RP Prompt 3#:
Prompt Response:
Every now and then when they act up and get really rough, she always runs to the adults when having a chance but if caught in it, she has no choice but to get her way out by joining them.

Possible Future Plots: She would go through her life from cub to adult by the time she has to make her own home. When she remembers her memories she would choose if they were worth it or not. If not she would probably have to leave and find something better to have in her life but if it was the best life she would stay for them until food gets to low for her to stay. If she found a lover in the pride she would stay until her cubs were born so she could take them with her to survive till they could reach the age to have a better chance of living but if it was a rogue or one of another tribe, she would have to choose to be with him or not. She, who was intelligent, had choices to make and things to sacrifice but she wasn't going to make bad decisions.

. [ Male Cub Plz ] .

Name: Djeret (hand)
Name Origin: Egyptian
Future Rank: Guardian

RP Prompt #: 2
Prompt Response:
It wasn't at all surprising when Luxe came to Djeret talking of a rare flower that supposedly grew in the nearby oasis. Flowers, the rarer the better, were something Djeret had come to expect of his oldest sibling. It wasn't a bad thing, it was just part and parcel of who Luxe was. Not to mention that the oasis was clearly OUTSIDE the temple, and Djeret wasn't going to oppose an opportunity to go outside!

The problem was getting there. If they went without a grownup, they'd both be in serious trouble. Which meant they needed a grownup. Somehow. Djeret considered the grownups that he saw regularly and smiled as his eye came to rest on Nyati. Standing in front of her, even though he had to look up, the boy told her simply that he and Luxe were going to the oasis. And that if they both ran in slightly different directions, she couldn't catch them both. Which would reflect poorly on her ability to keep an eye on them and their sibs. So she might as well just go with them and save everyone the trouble.

The trip itself was relatively uneventful, but the oasis was fascinating, if only because it was someplace new and different. Djeret decided early on that exploring was interesting enough on it's own without looking for a flower. A flower that he didn't even know what it looked like. That wasn't Luxe's fault, he supposed, but it made it much more difficult to find.

In the end, Luxe found a flower. Djeret had no idea if it was or wasn't the one they'd set out looking for - he couldn't make heads or tails of what his oldest brother was saying anyway - but he was happy the other cub had at least found something. And happier to have been able to go the oasis and have fun! All in all, a good day in Djeret's young life.

Possible Future Plots: He'll grow up trying to protect his siblings while indulging their fancies. Mates are something that old people have and he probably won't see himself in such a position until a lioness shoves it in his face.
