It was very weird, waking up next to someone.
When Shan woke up, he would usually stretch out, and yawn, and maybe flail a bit to get himself worked up and awake. But he didn't do that today, because that would probably be impolite to the lioness beside him. Perhaps the strangest thing about it was the realization that today would be the first day of... well, always waking up like this. Probably. He perked his ears and tilted his head, looking perhaps somewhat confused. His routine now would probably be all... different.
The duke realized he was staring, so he looked away and stretched just a little, before settling down once more. Shan didn't want to ask Shen if she was awake, or wake her up, but also felt he should probably wait around, this being their first day as a married couple and all.

Shen Xue was, by all appearances, as composed asleep as she was awake. There was no flailing around, no rolling, no sprawling, just the occasional shifting into a more comfortable position. It had taken some time for her to fall asleep in the first place, being next to someone who wasn't family, but it was also sort of...pleasant, in a way. When he first woke, she was still asleep, tucked next to him and comfortably curled up with the tuft of her tail draped over her nose.
The little movements beside her finally started to pull her from her dreams, and she came half-awake with a yawn that she covered with her paw. She cracked open one eye to regard her husband and smiled foggily.
"...mmm morning," she mumbled, reluctant to be up and about quite yet.

It didn't occur to him that maybe his new wife didn't usually wake up so early, because this is what Shan had done all his life. Wake up for training! He doubted he'd be training today, though. "Good morning." He replied, mildly because he wasn't sure how cheerful he should be.
"Did you sleep well? You weren't cold?" It was getting colder, and the North of Tianxia was famously chilly, after all. Perhaps it was silly to ask, though, it was hardly like this was Shen's first night up here. Just her first night in his den.

Shen was accustomed to waking up more or less when she wanted - life in the West House hadn't been so regimented as it apparently was here in the North. Creativity didn't necessarily have a schedule, but strength certainly seemed to! She supposed that was for the best, though, as a warrior who didn't want to get up in the morning would be more of an issue than an artisan who didn't. They'd be in fine shape if Tianxia's warriors couldn't haul themselves out of their dens in the unlikely event that something ever happened.
"Cold?" The pale lioness stretched a little, trying to do so without moving any more than necessary. "A little, but only when you moved."

He nodded, then laid his ears back, looking sheepish. He shouldn't have moved, should he? Oh gosh, uh-- ... Shan had to chill. Really, they were going to be– they were married. He shouldn't get so flustered when she talked like that!
But he did anyways. "Oh, I'm sorry! If you want I could, uh." He didn't quite know how to put it in words, but scooted a bit closer anyways. He figured that he at least was now in position to touch her... somewhat more freely. "Is this better?" He didn't know if she wanted to spend the whole day here, but might as well be ready, just in case.

She took it as a good sign that even half-asleep and barely trying, she could get him to so quickly do her 'bidding.' Not that her bidding was likely to ever involve anything truly objectionable - she was manipulative, but not on any grand scale. She just wanted attention, and to be provided for and looked after. Hard work and Shen were not on the best of terms with each other.
"Much better," she approved, snuggling up a little closer and licking his cheek.

Oh goodness, Shan really had to get used to this sort of thing. But he couldn't help to get flustered, and to avoid making a silly face, just settled for resting his head on her shoulders. Because maybe she liked that sort of cuddly-stuff. After all, she was the one cuddling him!
"So what do you want to do today?"

Shen Xue had two motives for being cuddly: the obvious, that she was sleepy and a little cold, and the other was strategy. It was part of the game of trying to ensure that Shan got attached to her. Their marriage may have been arranged, but she fully intended to have him head-over-heels for her, if she could manage it. Currently, she was feeling pretty confident about her chances.
"Hmmm." The sound was half-purr as she considered the options. "Maybe we could work on training? You know, as long as you're gentle."

Uuuuh. Shan wondered if he should be understanding everything with a double-meaning, like she was hoping to sound that way. He might have gulped, but didn't want to (more) blatantly give away how at a loss he was. "You want to train?" He repeated, dumbly.
"We could go down to the grounds with the others." He suggested, deciding it was best to go with a language he understood, rather than make a fool of himself. "Or.... somewhere quieter." He'd probably get mocked by at least one sibling for 'going easy' on anyone, even his wife.

"I should learn a little, since I live here now," she explained, nodding. Not that she hadn't been deliberately suggestive, because she had, but that was mostly just because she could be. It was amusing to see how he responded.
Shen considered the options a moment. "Wherever you think is best."

He sort of wished she had been more decisive herself. Shan felt very insecure about all this, because he wanted to be a very good husband. And because of little issues he was still working on fully getting over, he simply didn't trust himself all that much.
Bleh, he was seriously getting worked up over nothing. "Okay. I think I know a place." He decided on a whim. Yest, best train where his brothers... weren't training. He shifted his weight to stand up, raising his head briefly... only to pause. "Or we could stay here a bit longer. If you wanted." She just looked so comfortable!
... and really, he was feeling comfortable, to. Shen had such nice, soft fur.

Stay here a little longer, hmm? Was he asking that for her sake, or for his? Shen decided - mostly because she wanted it to be - that it was the latter, and he didn't want to get up because he was comfortable. Accordingly, she shifted her own weight to get closer to him again with a slight purr. "I wouldn't mind staying here a little longer."

He tried not to smile too widely, but probably failed. Shan was thinking he could live with this, and rather enjoy it! Married life would be just fine, if it most consisted of lying around in the morning and staying like this. Who knows whatever they would do afterwards for the rest of the day, but that would... well, later.
"Great!" He said, and once he was sure his wife wouldn't mind, Shan put his head over her shoulders and gave her a night nuzzle. Yep, he could definitely get used to this!Meepfur Dunno how to end this xD maybe just a fade out?
