Kahawia had been entranced by the female bard of the West house. He wondered though, if she would want to spend time with him again. He was just a hunter, and a bard would get more attention than a hunter that worked for everyone.
"I should try," he told himself as he lingered around the central area for the west house, hoping to catch her. She stood out a lot compared to the other members of the house, in bard-ness and in coat colour. Still, he felt that it couldn't hurt to try talking to her again. See if she had another story to share.
"Hmmm." He saw one of her siblings around, but he didn't look like he wanted to talk. Well, Kahawia would just wait for her, and see if she showed up.

Nyayo was in a very good mood. The West House was rather quiet and peaceful and without cubs around to keep things interesting, she had decided that as one of the few bards around, she would make things more fun. She'd formulated a story, a very long one, and was telling it in parts. If she were honest, she was making it up as she went but it was far more fun to act like she knew more than she did. She'd finished telling more of her story by the waterhole and was headed back in to see if she could find Katua. She had kind of slacked off in keeping an eye on him but she was sure he had to be feeling better by now.. Humming as she walked, she headed for a busier area of the pride. Her brother wasn't terrible social but it was the best place to start.

Katua was moping, like normal. The visions were still there, but he did his best to play off to his sister that he wasn't seeing them as often. It sort of worked, but it was hard lying to a bard.
He noticed that there was this brown lion lingering around, and it forced Katua to falter a bit. What did he want? A fellow hunter...yes...it started to come back to him.
"Yuang Wang?" Katua tentatively tossed out a thread of conversation. "Do you need something?"--- Kahawia wasn't expecting the lion to talk, so he spooked once he spoke. Oh, that name was familiar. Kahawia didn't mingle too much out from his family, so he didn't really know what to say at her. "Ah...well, I was just...waiting for your sister, I guess. To see if she'd come around."
This felt really awkward. Everyone knew that Katua was miserable, but very few knew the reason as to why he was also so depressed.

Katua's bright blue mane made him very easy to spot, Nyayo didn't get very far before she noticed and changed direction to head for him. It took her a second glance to realize he was talking to her newest friend.. and then she realized neither of them had shown up for her story! She was working so hard to keep everybody entertained and here they were, chatting away in plain sight! Tsk!
She couldn't even pretend to be angry in her own head, by the time she reached the two lions she was laughing at herself.
"Hello boys," she greeted them brightly.

Katua's head swiveled to see his sister's bright red coat. It was nearly impossible to miss, and pretty unique to her. "Hey, Li Biyu," he said, a soft, sad smile growing on his face. He loved his sister, as she was helping him get over his attachment to the lioness Biskuti. It was starting to get better, but he also always thought about how lonely he felt, even with his sisters and mother here. It wasn't quite the same.
---
Kahawia felt really awkward standing here with Katua, since he was currently trying to see how his relationship with her would turn. It was comfortable and casual at this point, and the only way it may grow into something more was to spend more time with her. She was a pretty good bard, which made the time pass pretty easily.
"Hello," he said with a warmer smile. "I ran into him while waiting for you."

Nyayo beamed back and forth between the pair of them, even though Katua looked sad and Kahawia looked awkward. It all made sense when Kahawia explained that they had crossed paths looking for her- or at least he was, which was curious in its own way.
"Looking for me?" she asked, chuckling, "I was just coming over to ask why neither of you were around for today's part of my story." She couldn't even scold jokingly so she ended up sounding only curious, though still cheerful. She knew Katua had caught bits and pieces of the story since she started, she wouldn't stop harassing him about it until he did.. and she was sure she had seen Kahawia around for some of it, but maybe she was mistaken. Her mind was all over the place when she told stories. Especially since she was making it up as she went.

Katua had heard a lot of Nyayo's stories, but he was trying to break his dependency on her. She was helpful in smacking him when he started to think about everything he was missing out on on those offspring of his (though, sometimes he wondered if his own father cared....probably not). He was working on controlling this stupid depression himself.
"Sorry," he grumbled.
---
Kahawia was more sorry than how Katua sounded. "I'm sorry, I got caught up in a hunt. I was hoping to catch the end of it, but I got a little distracted...." He wondered how Katua would feel if he realized that Kahawia fancied his sister a little bit. "Maybe you can give me a quick recap before the next telling?"

Her gaze rested on Katua for a moment, even when Kahawia began to apologize and explain why he had not been present for the afternoon's story. He was obviously still upset, she doubted it was because he had missed her story. She wasn't sure what else she could do, though she wondered if perhaps she ought to tell their mother. Was that childish?
"Hmm," she said, looking back to Kahawia and putting a smile back on, "Whhhhy should I?"
It wasn't going to be that easy! This was more fun, at least for her.

Katua caught sight of Nyayo's look, but he didn't say anything. Part of him already assumed that they were together, and it just continued to feed his bitterness. He should go see his mother soon, she always had good words to ease his pain. She herself had her own issues, and it was easier for the blue-maned male to connect with her.
At the moment, he was the awkward 3rd wheel.
---
The brown lion laughed. "Hey! I have my duty. That's not really nice to make me choose between the two." The rules could get pretty relaxed in good times in the West, and though there was a bit of tension with the royal house it didn't feed down into the lower ranks very much. He was still happy just being a hunter, and having fun hanging out with Nyayo.
"What do I have to bribe you with to tell me?"

"I saw other hunters there," she said in a sing-song voice but she ended up giggling. She wouldn't have understood any better if she were a huntress herself, she knew they were busy and had a very important job to do- that was part of why the story was in parts, everybody would catch pieces of it if they wanted.
"No no no," she said, "I'm not going to tell you, you have to figure something out. Impress me and maybe I will catch you up."
For a moment, Nyayo almost forgot her brother was standing right there.

Well, it was pretty often that Katua was forgotten. It was his own fault. He was always so down, no one wanted to hang out with him. He sighed, seeing that his sister was having a good time. He didn't fault her for it, she deserved it. She was a hard worker. "I'm going to go talk to Mom, I'll bug you later, ok sis?"
----
Kahawia didn't quite forget, but it was too easy to pretend that he wasn't there when Nyayo seemed to ignore him too. He felt a bit awful, though it wasn't like he was using Katua to get clsoer to Nyayo. They literally just happened to be near one another.
"Ah, yeah, well, I'll have to try that out once I hear the next little bit. You'll have to test me to see if I got it right."

"No, wait!"
Nyayo started when suddenly Katua was saying he was off to see their mother, she hadn't meant to ignore him- but once she shouted for him to stay, she didn't know what to say he ought to stick around for. She almost frowned but she caught herself quickly and smiled awkwardly at him.
"OK," she murmured, "See you later."
Then she looked over to Kahawia and smiled at him.
