Pride Territory:
The basics
The actual pinpoint to where the pride lives is a secret, for good reason because they are a pride of thieves and do not wish to be found less their neighbors decide to take up arms against them. Let us just say they are off map.
The Kauzi territory is a grand expansion of desert that eventually leads to towering walls of plateaus and mountains that the members of the pride use as not only outlook points, but also dens for those who prefer to stay topside.
The entrances that lead to a network of underground caves and caverns ,that most of the pride calls their home, are located at 3 points around the plateaus and mountains.
How far along the networks go is unknown, since the pride only expands out when they need to, and certain areas are cut off for the common ranked members. However, for now, there seems to be plenty of room for the band of thieves.
Certain networks are designated to house members of the pride. The walls of the rock holding mini tunnels and deep indentations to act as dens for members and their family, if they have one.
Higher ranked members may have entire cave areas, or dead end sectors, cut off just for themselves and their families. Other areas are restricted for the purpose of housing treasures and supplies, and only the King, Vizier, Merchants and Counters may enter those areas.
There are, however, 3 spots where the pride enjoys hanging out. Two oasis areas sit within the pride territory; one sits in the open desert, the other hidden by the towering plateaus. For those living underground both can be accessed easily if they know how to travel through the cave network to get to them. They will eventually reach an exit point and it is just a short walk to get to the oasis. The third area is an underground pool and waterfall. |

History:
Descendants of slaves to the fire that once ravaged the lands. Children who still harbor the burning hatred that was born from those whom came before them. They may have not made it far from where they once were. They held no titles, were not well known, but at least they were free of their chains.
The Kauzi were established by a small band of slaves that managed to escape the oppression of the Firekin when a plague hit the pride. They had no plans, no idea where to flee too, but they ran as far as they could for as long as they could until they were sure things would be safe.
The group found no paradise, just sand. The same terrain they had escaped, but this time it was far away and safe. Food was still hard to find, but they managed to get by with the only skill they had at the time, thievery.
Fall from Rank:
Ardavan was originally the heir to his father's legacy. He was groomed as the eldest, having nearly all of his sire's attentions during his upbringing. He was forged into a hardened warrior with a stern, sensible head, a sharp wit, and a trained talent for leadership. Ardavan was his father's strong right paw as the lion grew into his elder years and became unable to perform all the duties expected of him. On a raid into enemy territory, Ardavan was ambushed and over-whelmed by enemy soldiers. Much of those that had accompanied him lost their lives and those that managed to return to their pride were badly wounded. Ardavan was terribly mauled in the attack and as he began to heal it became clear that he would be crippled for the rest of his life.
With the heir crippled, and as a result pulled from leadership, it was clear that Ali Baba would be put in his brother's place. However, there was a new problem because it was clear their father did not have much time left, which meant he could not teach his youngest as he did his eldest. It would be up to Ardavan to teach his brother the ways of leadership, and trim him to be the kind of King the Kauzi deserved and expected.
This was not what Ali wanted, but he has no choice...
Religion:
The Kauzi have no specific religion or God/Goddess that they worship. However, there is an unspoken rule and understanding of tolerance between each other. Members are free to worship whatever higher power they may believe in, and if someone does not believe they shall not speak down upon one who does. If they should choose to do so then they may be met with a form of small punishment or warning.
Breeding:
Just follow the basic rules and you will be safe.
- No Incest
- No Rape
- No ***** you follow these basic rules then you are safe to reproduce.
Joining/Leaving:
Joining and leaving is pretty simple. Just get approval from the OOC owner and all will be okay. However, if you are exiled then be prepared to be attacked if you come near pride territory again.

Ranks:
King: [1] He is the leader of the pride, the one who not only cares for them, but punishes them should they ever cross a certain line within the law. He may be a leader of thieves instead of something a little more “civil” or “appropriate”, but he takes his job seriously none the less, and is willing to not only stand by them, but lead them in times of trouble and war.
Queen: [1] The King’s “second in command” so the speak. She is his rock, the one who works in the dark while he works in the light and stands as figure head. Some may find little worth in a female leader, but she stands to prove them wrong and show that she is just as capable and powerful as any male leader.
Prince/Princess: [However many times they decide to pop them] Children of the King and Queen, whether through birth or adoption. This title stays with the child from cub to adulthood, though at adolescence they will still be expected to take up an apprenticeship and do something with their lives. They cannot sit around at home and do nothing, unless they want their title stripped and end up kicked out on their rump.
Youth: Default rank for cubs and Juveniles.
Runt: Title given to adolescents. At this stay they make take up an apprenticeship and learn how to work.
Vizier: [3 + 1 Head] These 4 work under the king himself. It is their job to supervise the territory and all members of the pride. They make sure that all things run smoothly, all are doing their jobs and that all petty criminals are punished for their act. They also make sure that there are no thieves among the thieves. Keepers and Merchants work under the Viziers.
Keeper: [3 + 1 Head] These guys are the “bankers” of the pride. All items/plunder that come in to the pride are sent to the Keepers to be counted, separated, and put in to inventory. It is also their job to give merchants their daily sales inventory, get all info at the end of a sales day and then record items sold.
Merchant: [3 + 1 Head] The title is basically self-explanatory. Merchants trade all items within the pride. Items such as food are basically given away, while others such as cloth, fur, jewelry, ect are put out for trade. When they are not playing merchants, they are also crafters, taking items within the inventory and turning them in to objects of beauty.
Hunter/Huntress: [Unlimited. Default Rank] Hunters…hunt.
Guard: [Unlimited + 1 Head] There are two sets of guards within the pride. Some patrol the desert, making sure no strangers come near the den territory. A smaller group of top side guards may also work with the scouts as protection for them. Others stay underground to help keep the peace and protect the King, Queen and those of higher status.
Scout: [Unlimited + 1 Head] Scouts are those who do border patrol for the pride. Unlike Guards, Scouts usually choose speed over strength, mostly because if they spot something they need to run back towards the dens and give warning. This is why they usually keep a group of guards around with them, so if they run, the guards can keep an eye on the danger/stranger and hold their own. Most scouting groups are made up of cheetahs or those who are a little more on the small and leaner side.
Caretaker: [Unlimited] BABIES! BABIES EVERYWHERE! And someone needs to watch them, so, yes, nannies. Or “caretaker” should any male come along and choose not to be called a nanny.
Entertainer: [Unlimited + 1 Head] Experts of song, dance, poetry and “magic”. They rule the stages in times of celebration, and keep the high titled lions entertained during their parties. Their voices can hypnotize and rival any song bird, while their bodies move like water and wind.
Medic: [Unlimited] HELP! I’VE BEEN SHOT! MEDIC! No, he is not like the medic from Team Fortress. Sad, I know…
Genie: [Seers Only. Unlimited] Any seers that come in to the pride are regarded as Genies. This title does NOT have to be taken if the Seer wishes to have a normal rank.
Bandit: [Unlimited] The title given to those who want to be a part of the actual thieves of the pride.
Slave: [Unlimited] It seems some habits really do die hard. Though the now gone members were once slaves themselves the pride now holds slaves of their own. Most slaves, due to still living anger, are those with pelts that remind them of the Firekin. Reds, burning oranges, ect. Luckily for most slaves the title does not stay till death. Some slaves may be freed if the King, or their master if they are a family slave, gives blessing un to them. At this point they may take a normal title in the pride or take their chances and try to run for it, if they can make it past the scouts and guards. They have no specific job. Slaves just exist and do whatever is asked for them. Some members may meet them with hostility and be look down upon them, others may treat them with respect and kindness.

Personality: A no-nonsense lioness, Cera takes nothing from nobody, and the only lions she'll take orders from are the King, Queen, and maybe the Viziers. Few can make her laugh, let alone smile, and then one usually doesn't WANT her to be smiling at them. Physical injury to others tends to be one of the things to make her smile or laugh. "It's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt... Then it's freaking hilarious!"
Brief History: Cera's history is mysterious, all that's known is that she showed up as an adolescent not too terribly long after the earthquakes that shifted everything around some time ago. Where she came from and who her family was is not something she ever talks about. The only companion she ever keeps around is her ever-present falcon, Petrie.

Personality: A sly girl, Hajar lets nobody close to her after a life of feeling like nobody's cared for her. She uses her thieving ways to keep herself far from others, not wanting to be abandoned yet again, either by a lover or the pride. Her only true loyalties by now are to the king and queen and related royalty for taking her in.
Brief History: As her name would suggest, Hajar was abandoned as a cub at the edge of the desert. Her parents weren't too thrilled with her looks, finding her quite unattractive by their standards, and the poor cub had no idea what she did wrong - All she had was this name they'd given her that felt so... Horrid. Wandering the desert, she was nearly dead when she reached one of the three entrances to the caves and only went in to get out of the sun... Only to find herself dragged the rest of the way in and presented to the royalty. Instead of enslaving her, pity was taken on her and she was cleaned up, fed, watered, and raised amid the rest of the pride.
