OOC
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. [ Task of Conquest: ] The Virus
This task requires a group of AT LEAST three initiated members (students or Horsemen), to a max of five members. They may go anywhere in the Human World using the portal catacombs in the Lair. These catacombs lead to small human world towns only. All players must follow these steps to successfully create a virus and then harvest the Fear from their virus. Follow the steps listed.

gaia_crown [ Step 1: ]

- The virus must first be created, from Fear. All players must imbue their Fears TOGETHER into a Fear-storage container. They may choose to use their natural ability, a Fear item they have, for example, something they won from school, or even something as simple as something a part of them, such as their hair or piece of clothing, a lab chemical or plant, etc etc, and PLACE IT INTO THE Fear storage container.
- Rp out all results as usual

- Roll a 10-sided dice. Conquest clans members roll 2d8 instead
1- 3: The Fear level from your offering is extremely weak.
4- 7: The Fear level from your offering is average.
8 - 10+ The Fear level from your offering is very good.

- ALL ROLLS ARE THEN averaged between all players. So if we have three players who rolled 2 + 5+ 10 that equals 2+ 5+ 10/ 3 = 6 TOTAL virus points. ROUND UP.

gaia_crown [ Step 2: ]

- After everyone has rolled and rp step 1, they can all now move to step 2, distributing the virus. Let the Fear-storage container do its work, for a little bit. Then, it is time to release it into the Human Town. You can release it anywhere in town: in a local water supply, spread it to the animals first, or simply attempt to find the local shelter to see if humans will pick up on it. As this virus is Fear-based, its requires Fear to be evoked from the atmosphere. That means you need to make the town nervous and paranoid so that their natural defenses drop. Only then will the virus do its work, seeping into the Human's own paranoia to stir their Fears even further and eventually kill them. There can be physical effects, this is up to you, or the virus can be entirely psychological/ fear-based. Talk it out with the rpers as to what you'd like the virus to look/ be like.
- All players can roll two times MAX. Rp out all results as usual.
- Conquest clans members get an extra roll

- Roll a 100-sided dice:
1- 2: You manage to find a shelter with old, elderly people. They are easily scared by your movement, as they think they see shadows, something moving in the corners. The Fear Virus seizes them easily and you gain your first victims. +2 virus points.
3- 4: You see some livestock milling around, well, the human livestock sort. Some strange dull cattle-like creatures. They are easily spooked by your presence and succumb easily to the virus. This is good news, it means the humans will directly consume your virus. +3 virus points.
5 - 6: You try to scare a group of Humans that look very busy in their household but they pay you absolutely no attention. They look way, way too happy, chatting with each other as they work. You cannot even evoke simple Fear here.
7- 8: You see a group of children, and they see you immediately, screaming. Human children are the most susceptible to Fear after all, with their wild imaginations. Their parents don't seem to be as susceptible though, the virus does very little for them as a whole. +1 virus points
9-10: You find a broken-down, decrepit place that resembles a haunted house. There are young Humans who are keen on exploring the inside. You scare them easily, and it is only a matter of time before they succumb to the virus as well. +2 virus points.

gaia_crown [ Step 3: ]

Once you have enough victims who have succumbed and you are happy with your result, you can now gather the Fear you have collected. Simply match your virus points to see how many Fear Points you have collected.
- You can conclude the town as your wish: destroy it, watch it rot itself, however you please.

1- 5 virus points: 1 Fear Point
6 - 12 virus points: 3 Fear Points
13 - 16+ virus points: 5 Fear Points

Soren found himself in the catacombs more and more often recently. But there were humans just right for the plucking beyond the lair, Fear to harvest. Out there, lestening to the screams of humans, he felt tendrils of happiness flooding through him. It was hard not to go back, not to seek out more missions. He was willing to go on any mission, with anyone. So long as it meant that humans suffered, that they knew their rightful place.

Of course, he preferred going on missions with those that he knew, but it was also a good chance to get to know others. To see them as horsemen were meant to be, flush with power. He looked at the horseman that had come from Conquest. It was nice to be on a team with him, the stallion obviously knew how to fight. The other though was a stranger, and Soren looked at him for a long moment, studying him and trying to place him. "I'm Soren," he rumbled. It was better to introduce himself before they left the catacombs to find their target. The Death horseman was ready to leave as soon as the others were prepared. This was going to be fun.

Tseng was pretty stoked for this outing. It had been awhile since he really had the chance to go out and harvest a good amount of fear for himself. Delicious and raw, pure human fear. The fact that he was out with at least one friend only made this even better. After all, what was point of performing awesome exploits if no one knew of it? Even then, Soren was a good ally to have. Capable Death Guardian he was.

"And! I am TSENG LEE! At your service," he greeted boldly while bowing deeply to the famine horseman that was along.

The exit to the catacombs was up ahead, where they seemed to be in a small dusty town in the middle of Oklahoma.

"Aaah, this should be good."

Kiwi had entered the catacombs mainly out of his own curiosity. A part of him secretly hoped a few fellow Famine soldiers might pass by, maybe even one he knew; but alas, what he found waiting inside the tunnels was something a little different. Two Lost Clansmen. The first, a rather tall Death warrior by the looks of him, he recognized from the events at the coliseum. The second appeared to be Conquest bred.

Ahh, Soren was it?? ... And Tseng?? ... Kiwi nodded gently to them, his bangles rattling in the light breeze of sand down the passageway. "I am Kiwi, of Famine Clan. Nice to meet you both." It didn't take long for Kiwi to realize just why the two were gathered here. So they were going FEAR harvesting?? ... The horseman's insides tinged slightly, an eager hunger rising from the softly glowing gem about his wrist. The taste of human FEAR was divine, and it had been some time since his last harvest with Heidla and Eisheth. He smiled. "I'll gladly accompany you." Any chance to lay waste to those lowly beasts and gain the upper hand was always welcome with him.

Kiwi followed quietly after the two, nothing more than the light jingle of his jewelry filling the sandy air. After a moment though, the sand softened into something less coarse, and the air took on a sweet smell too. They had reached the human world.

He recognized the smile for what it was from Kiwi. So there would be no complaints from any of them about the task...it was good to agree with group members on tasks like this. He relaxed a bit more as they began to make their way to the human world.

It seemed as if nature had already begun to ransack the town that they had arrived at. It was brown. Where grass and trees struggled to survive the sun had beaten it back, the frail plants retreating, trees drooping their leaves as they attempted to weather a drought. What that meant was that it was dry and hot, and Soren had a good deal of fur on him. It was not exactly pleasant. All the more reason to get this over with quickly, as he refused to complain about the heat. He reached into his overshirt, the loose material acting as an emergence pocket, and pulled out a container. Opening the lid he held it out in his right hand. "This is what we add our Fear to," he stated simply, not assuming that they were ignorant of what to do, just not wanting to waste time. In fact, it was much more likely that they had a better idea of what to do than he did.

He belatedly realized that he needed something of his own to add his Fear to, and reached up to pluck out a strand of his hair. Focusing his Fear around that was unusual, but he got some imbued in his Fear and dropped it in, waiting for the others, whether they wanted to just place their Fear in the container or take it from him was up to them.

Tseng beamed back at Kiwi, taking a note of his name. Yes, it seemed they had a pretty solid grouping here. Once they were out in the open, he took a moment to look around. This place seemed like a pretty prime target for them. Things were already dreary, which made for a nice starting point.

Turning towards Soren, he clapped his hands together at the sight of the container.

"Ah! Excellent. Now lets see..." he started while thinking about his offering, tapping his chin, "OH! I know."

He summoned his bow and aimed into the container with an arrow.

"Viral contribution!" he called out as he unleashed the arrow straight into the container. That should do pretty nicely for the job.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 19, 2012 4:43 pm
Kiwi was mildly shocked when Tseng pointed the arrow of all things into the container and let it fly. Some part of him oddly expected it to shatter, and he was a bit taken aback to see it held up nicely, not so much as a nick across the glass, the arrow safe inside. The Famine heritage in him pondered this. It was likely enchanted somehow, made to nullify the FEAR before focusing it together and enriching it. That was quite a sight. He gave a gentle chuckle before plucking a strand of his own hair, focusing to bring a FEAR imbibed pulse to the strand before dropping it too into the container. "That should do," he smiled.

((Virus = paranoia/aggression causing))

Soren closed the container, sealing the virus inside and glanced back toward the town. "I'll go first and unleash it." He summoned his mount easily, heaving himself onto the large ghostly mount before looking down at them. "Happy reaping," he said with a nod before he was off.

The humans did not see him coming, as he was not attempting to be seen as he dismounted next to a place filled with the elderly and then dismissed the stallion. He liked the elderly. They always seemed to have the air of death around them, whether they were the ones close or someone that they knew. He waited until he was in the among them before opening the container, letting it affect their minds before he began to try to strip them of their defenses.

It was easy really. Nudging his Fear to just create shadows, nothing they could really see. Moving things in the environment as they started too look around, questioning if they had seen that. "It's the devil's work!" one woman shrilly proclaimed, but there was fear in her eyes. "If its the devil then why do you have my slippers!" came an outraged reply. The bickering and suspicion rose throughout the room, the Fear heightening as more and more fell to the simple shadows and noises he created. It was unleashed.

Tseng clapped happily as Soren went on to release the virus into the area. In the meantime, he was going to need to scare a few things himself.

"Best of luck to you both!" he chirped to the other two clansmen before whisking on to another part of town. There was a small house not too far off that he decided to go ahead and try and deal with. There were two women in the kitchen, gossiping away while working on fix some food up together.

The Imperial soldier did what he could to catch their attention and attempt to frighten them, but quite frankly, they were far too engaged in their talk to notice anything weird going on.

"Alas! These humans are far too happy." he lamented dramatically. He would have to look elsewhere.

With their words of encouragement, the two had taken off ahead of him. Kiwi grinned, already enjoying this. In a flourish of his hand he summoned his own bone-white, half-decayed stallion, leaping atop it to sail forward. As he rode, a village began to take shape in the sand-like dust ahead. And barely visible was Soren atop his ghostly mount. Kiwi veered to the left a bit, coming up beside his fellow horseman. "Seems as though we have the same strategy in mind," he grinned, beginning to call upon his own FEAR within the container.

The townspeople were already suspicous, paranoid even. Soren had done a good job. Kiwi focused carefully, and sure enough, one of the elderly townsmen rose to his feet. "Did you see that!!??" he pointed a wrinkled hand towards the barn wall. A moment ago, a dark, eerie shape had passed across it. Kiwi grinned, sending another around behind him, yet another, and a third, til they were swirling round the man in the corners of his vision, his heart rate increasing as the FEAR rolled from his shrieking, maddened form. Others glanced up, some raised canes in irritation, others reached for pocket-knives and loaded guns, fearful that some trickery was afoot.

And indeed it is, Kiwi thought with satisfaction. He let the shadows die, leaving the townspeople bickering and shaking in their own paranoia.

Soren glanced over at Kiwi, the clansmen had a good plan indeed. These old fools were truly beginning to give in to their Fears. They were so easy to manipulate, and Soren could feel their Fear washing over them. It was hard not to summon his weapon then and there and massacre the lot of them but no, this was a virus, and that was how they were going to reap this day. "You're good at this," he noted, watching as someone seemed to hear what he had said, whirling around fearfully to look in their direction though they would see nothing.

But they had this area under control. He nodded to Kiwi and left the building, headed outside. A small group of children were shrieking with laughter, taking turns running around under a sprinkler and leaping over it, enjoying the small respite from the heat. Then one looked up and locked eyes with him, eyes going wide in confusion. He laughed, a deep, dark chuckle, summoning his weapon now and advancing. Their parents saw nothing, simply chiding them for trying to run inside where they would get everything wet but they had already given into Fear. Desperately they pushed at each other, jumping at shadows and arguing as he turned to leave. He could meet the others by the entrance of the town. The old and the young were both affected, their virus would spread.

Passing back through the town, Tseng was glad to see that Kiwi and Soren were making good progress. He was going to need to pick up the slack, however. With a big grin, he gave them both a thumbs up before finding himself over by an abandoned and broken down house. What more, there were humans inside! Oh, this should be good.

Tip toeing in a stereotypical fashion, he made his way inside after the group. Now. What to do. What to do. Oh! He knew. Picking up a vase from an old stand, he hurled it right past the humans, startling them both. Of course when they turned around, they wouldn't find anything. And yet, despite it not being all that possible, they began to blame one another for the deed. They accused each other that they were trying to kill them or something.

"I would call this, a grand success!" he commented while puffing up his chest.

Having finished his current task, Kiwi gave a polite nod to the two horsemen, choosing to circle his way around the exterior of the town. It wasn't long before he came to what appeared to be a pen of sorts, much like the pen of alpacas Medea herself kept on the reserve. He grimaced slightly, recollecting the incident of alpacas running a-muck across Amity. That had not been a pleasant experience in the least.

This however, seemed to be much more intriguing. Certain beasts were trapped within this pen. They were not alpaca, their coats were too fine, and their necks too short. But that mattered little as Kiwi summoned his FEAR, allowing the virus to seep forward. It took a matter of moments. One of them lifted a head as a fly landed on it's brow, eyes rolling madly. It began to kick, stirring a cloud of dust that rippled panic through the entire herd. They began to stampede around the pen wildly, braying in sweet, sweet FEAR. Kiwi's FEAR fragment almost hummed with the scent of it. This would a good harvest. With their food supply threatened, they would fall like ... well, cattle.

The guardian surveyed the small town in front of him. Judging from the directions that to others were coming from it looked like they had seen to the majority of the town. From the elders down to the children they were infected, and even their livestock. What had once been sleepy, relatively quiet, what sounds to be heard filled with every day noises and primarily happy noises had been replaced with anger, fear. Accusations flew as Fear took hold, and from that Fear blossomed anger, which caused more Fear. It was a delicious, delicious cycle. Even if the virus had not been the strongest they could have made (with absolutely no help from Soren) their job was done well.

"This should conclude our task," he stated as they drew near. "I learned from you." He did not say how, or that he was thankful. Simply that he learned and that was that. Now then, it was hot, and going back to Halloween should be much cooler without a bright sun beating down on him.

10 virus points total, +3 FP to all after this is concluded~

Tseng thought about having another go at it, but decided that their work was enough for now. The humans were infected and it was rather glorious to see it all in action.

"A job most certainly well done!" he chirped as he rejoined the other two horsemen. He could feel the fear flowing into him to be stored away into his fragment.

"Oh, did you? Well then that is most excellent! Though we should head on back. We have done our job. No need to dally about!" he said happily while watching two humans brawling nearby after having accused one another of something trivial. It was wonderful. Really.
