The air was dry, a little cold, and probably hinted at rain in the near future. But still he had ventured out, not really sure of his plans, or why he was out in the first place. He was usually the type to stay close to Mlinzi - y'know in case he needed something. But today Mlinzi had ushered him away, he was off to congratulate an old friend on a courtship. Mez had of course offered to escort him, but Mlinzi had refused, urging him to take some time for himself. He didn't like the idea, it always led to a lot of thinking ... thinking was never good for anyone. It was a depressing thing, especially for someone who had so little to be proud of.
Mezlijin bent to the ground, sniffing the dirt at his feet. The heck was he doing that for? Sniffing the dirt - what are you planning on eating it? Sniffling, he picked his head up, still confused as to his actions.
He couldn't really explain why he'd done it. He just had.

Well feet, where have you taken us now? Mani thought lazily to herself. The black socked cheetah had certainly wandered far, this time. In retrospect, she usually trekked pretty far in her travels. But this place was far from her usual jaunts, which were usually connected. She hadn't been in this area before, and didn't really know what to expect. If anything, Mani hoped taht she'd come across another. The only downside to travel was that is was a lonely endeavor. Well, somewhat, anyway. You might meet someone along the way, but perhaps, one of these days the cheetah should find a travel companion.
Her black nose twitched, the air smelt like it would rain soon. As lovely as that would be on a hot day, there was still a slight cold hanging in the air. So, even if it did rain, it wouldn't feel great forever. If there was one thing Mani didn't like, was getting drenched. On the other paw, she didn't mind wet dirt between her toes.
Well... this is a predicament.

A scent flew through the air, right under his nose causing the male to nearly sneeze. It was a new scent, and probably the reason he had placed his nose to the ground in the first place. It was sweet, and possibly a little spicy at the same time. Though what it was, he had no way of knowing. He wasn't really known for his sense of smell, that was Mlinzi's job. Perking his ears, the leopon allowed his nose to rise in the air. The sweet and spicy scent had his full attention, for all the good it would do him. The way it swam into his nostril's and tugged at his curiosities ... there was no way he could go without knowing what it was. Before he took a step, he paused and mentally went over the consequences of his actions. The most that could go wrong was finding another bad plant. This time he just wouldn't taste test it ... yeah that hadn't worked out so well last time. His stomach rumbled as if in pure agreement. He smiled faintly at his own stupidity and attempted to follow his own nose, knowing it might lead him straight to disaster. Don't be an idiot Mezljin.
He lectured himself simply, all the while focusing on that scent.

Mani was slightly intent on finding some appropriate shelter, should it rain. Though she was in a bit of a barren area, there had to be some place nearby, or some distance that would do so. Although she could smell the potential storm, there was a far off scent that tickled the cheetah's little black nose. It didn't smell like any food, and even if it was, Mani wasn't in the mood to hunt. She was never too hungry after a long travel, and it never occurred to her if that was a good thing or not. The purple pelted cheetah shrugged off her musings, and the potential company. At the moment, she wanted to be sure she could escaped the rain. She knew there was the potential that it wouldn't rain, but it was always better to be safe than sorry.

The trail was running cold, just when he thought he had it cornered the wind took it in another direction. It was maddening really! Every time he got near, his heart would race, and his paws would get shaky. Whats that about anyway? He'd initially shrugged it off, but he was beginning to get more and more concerned about the matter. "Easy Mez, don't get yourself worked up over nothing, its probably just another herb..." He tried to talk himself out of searching the scent down, but he knew it wasn't an herb. He knew all about herbs, and this one .. it was just too sweet smelling! Frustrated the leopon kicked the dirt around him into a dist cloud, hardly caring about anything more. As the dust traveled up his nose and got caught in his sinuses he let out a large sneeze, which echoed in the open clearing. "Stupid dust." He grumbled, now more annoyed than ever. Then the scent hit him again - this time much stronger than before. It was close, and he was going to find it this time! Taking off at a dash, the leopon paid little attention to his direction, leading to his abrupt stop as he crashed right into a large purple log. The last though he remembered before the crash? Well that's strange, a purple log?

Mani had found a decent looking decayed tree trunk, thought it was debateable if it would prove to be a good enough shelter. At least it was something, though and that was good enough, for now. She couldn't help but hope that she could find something better. The cheetahs' thoughts where interrupted when her ears seemed to pick up a .. loud sneeze? Was someone actually nearby, or was she just hearing things? Admittedly, it was sometime hard to tell, the environment had its ways of procuring sounds, even if you didn't quite understand how it could. Of course, as the stories told, it could also be a deity in disguise, trying to be mischievous.
Mani's ears continued to twitch after picking up something else. Something aside from the breeze. Turning her plum gaze in the direction, she could discern something coming right for her. It hadn't hit her to move until, well, the object collided into her. In retrospect, that would be slightly bruising to an other cheetahs ego.
The lithe purple form lay rather sprawled on the ground after the collision. The wind had been knocked out of her, and she was feeling a little lightheaded. At the very least, from what Mani could tell, whatever ran into her had been soft. Still rather solid, but still soft in its own way. Although the ground had been soft to walk on, it wasn't that great to fall on.

Trying to ease his way back up to his paws, Mezlijin swayed slightly. Though his fall hadn't been all that rough, he was still slightly shaken by it. As he stood, he began to wonder why exactly the collision had felt more soft than rough? He'd bumped into a log right? Weren't those things pretty rough? Even the hollow ones! Confusion arose in his mind as he tried to piece together the pieces, but nothing fit. That is, until he looked down at the ground. One look and he realized two things. 1] He'd made a terrible mistake. 2] HIS SCENT! Overcome with both embarrassment and curiosity, Mezlijin leaned down to the purple feline at his feet. One look in her eyes and he knew what she saw. She was a cheetah! Just like his Mom! It had been ages since he'd seen his Mother, but he still knew those eyes. Shaped somewhat different than his Father's, and even more different than his own. They were beautiful. "Oh man! I'm sorry, I didn't see you - I guess it would have been smart to pay attention huh? Are you OK? Do you need medical attention? I'm sooo sorry.- Here let me help you?!" The words spilled out before he could limit them. He had no idea what he was trying to do, he was far past coherent thought. How stupid could you be? Struggling with his own guilt, he bent down offering his paw to the strange female.

Mani's head was slightly fuzzy for a moment, but everything came back within moment, even if it felt longer than that. Her ears picked up the words the other was saying, but they slowly registered in her brain. The first thing she did was orient herself onto her stomach, and upon seeing the offered paw, Mani gladly took it. Even though her mind had answered the questioned, the cheetah had yet to verbally answer them. Shaking her head to clear it a bit, Mani realized that the helpful paw had been a big one. She'd traced it back to whom it belonged to, and found it to be conencted to a leopon! Intriguing that there was one out in the middle of nowhere. Then again, that's where she was and.. she'd been in the middle of nowhere when she'd met up with Safi. Admittedly, this leopon reminded her of the sire of her first litter. ...Even if the big difference was that this stranger was a light blue and had marking on his pelt, as opposed to having a pure white coat and no markings.
" I'm fine, I'm fine. I didn't see you either, so don't be too hard on yourself. "

Mezlijin let out a sigh at the female's words, though he was still nervous that she was fibbing about her injuries. He chose to keep a close eye on her actions, if she started to act strange, she was going straight to Mlinzi! Even if he had to carry her there. Which he would do, he was grown now, he could do these things. Smiling he tried to calm his nerves, but he was nothing close to calm he was quite the opposite. "But I saw you - well I saw your color. I thought you were a log though!" Mezlijin paused, completely stopping his rant and taking a deep breath in and out. "What I mean is ... i-it wasn't intentional OK?" His pitch got higher and he got really close to the female, losing all respect for personal space. Mostly because he'd forgotten such a thing existed. "My name's Mezlijin .... i'm sorry for the accident." Thinking back to the times he'd seen Mlinzi court a female, he bowed his head deeply and looked up from under his eyes at the female. From this position he could see just how lovely her coat was. Her colors were vibrant, and her coat was silky smooth. His heart began to beat faster once more. What was up with that?

She couldn't help but giggle a bit. The notion that she'd been a log, was silly to her. For all Mani knew, though, there could very well be a purple moss that grows on logs. Kuu would probably know if there was such a plant or not, but that was something to be asked later. Then again, perhaps this leopon knew. Regardless, Mani took notice of the close proximity the male was to her. She didn't mind it much, though. It reminded her of when she was with Safi, and although this wasn't him Mez was still handsome in his own right. It wasn't often that she saw stripes on anything other than leopards, and maybe a few cheetahs. He seemed to pull them off quite nicely, as well as his overall colouration. She knew if her father was here, Abasi would find the leopon to be a bit ' fruity ' because of his pelt colour.
" .. I am Mani, it's a pleasure to meet you Mezlijin. " Mani said calmly and politely, returning the gesture some. Her parents had taught her to do so, as it was the respectful thing to do. It helped the other to know they and their words were acknowledged. " It's alright. Accidents happen. "
Perhaps, this was a lucky accident.

Mezlijin smiled a strange smile, it was dopey, and one looking in on the scene might think crazy. But he wasn't thinking about that at the moment, his mind was fixated on this female - Mani as she had called herself. It was a lovely name, short and to the point. He liked it! "Mani huh? That's easy to remember." Nodding his head in agreement, he found he couldn't control his own body any more. "I don't think i've ever seen you before ... are you from ..." Mezlijin paused a moment debating whether to share his pride's name. It wasn't that it was much of a secret, but he was new to this whole scouting thing. Maybe he wasn't supposed to mention it. Instead he caught his words in his throat and wiggled his eyes slightly. "Here?"Of course he knew she wasn't. He'd never laid eyes on one so stunning as she was. Her pelt was so regal, surely something like that would have caught his eye by now. She was sort of like Mlinzi ... you just don't miss a look like that. Eyeing the female a little more closely he noticed he could feel her breath upon his mane. "Oh sorry! Sorry too close!" Easing himself back from the female he dipped his head in regret. "Hope I didn't startle you there."

Mani couldn't help but be amused at the monotone hybrid, and at the same time, the cheetah was thankful to come across another. Someone whom was friendly and might offer some companionship, if only for a little while. She hadn't minded Mezlijin's close proximity to her, and it was cute to see how embarrassed he was about it. At the very least, the young male had some manners. It was all too endearing.
" No, I'm afraid that I'm not from around here. " Mani said, her voice the usual fluid calm that it was when she was comfortable. She glanced around some, before returning her gaze to the Leopon, " My feet tend to take me everywhere, but this place is a first. "Depawsit [ Sorry for the wait. xD; ]

"Oh, I thought as much ..." Wracking his head for something more to add he was coming up empty. Here he was, with a nice looking lady, drawing complete blanks on how to catch her attention. She was for sure going to stumble away at any moment. Only, she didn't, for some reason she was staying by his side, allowing this awkward conversation to continue. Mezlijin's chest did a small flip and he quickly pulled together a conversation piece, almost as though it had been there all along. "Well if you'd like, I could show you around? I mean, I can't take you into my pride, but the borders are fair game!" His tail swayed back and forth excitedly as he awaited her answer. Maybe she would say yes! But what if she did say yes? What would he talk about then? What was he supposed to do? Fate wasn't on his side today, and obviously neither was his luck. He would just have to wing this thing, and hope it came out in his favor.

Mani smiled at Mezlijin's offer. As much as the cheetah knew about how Prides worked, she knew that as an outsider, she wouldn't be able to wander Pridal Lands. Which was perfectly understandable, on all grounds. Though Mani meant no harm at all, and is a very warm individual, that doesn't mean that they would know that. Or even take that at face value. For all anyone knew, she could be a spy, or something. Not that Mani would be able to do that, and she wasn't entirely sure she understood how anyone could be devious as their profession. However, that was beside the point. She was in the company of someone whom was waiting for her answer.
" I understand not being able to traverse your lands, but I wouldn't mind taking a tour of the borders~ "

GREAT! She'd said yes!
Or should he be more in the tone of Great, she said yes....
The poor male had had so little interaction with female's in general that when confronted with this new opportunity he had little to no idea of what to do. To some extent, he new had the charisma. It was in his blood! His Father was quite the ladies man, as made evident by his many, many children. Surely some of that had passed on to his more than slightly awkward son? Surely it had!
Mezlijin's heart began to skip a bit as the female acknowledged his offer, his tail swayed in constant motion, overly excited at the prospect of spending more time with this lovely lady.
"Perfect! I bet you'll enjoy yourself quite a bit! Our pride is an interesting place to be, if you'd like I could even tell you our story as we walk?"
A story? THAT was his best line? Mezlijin could have kicked himself for all the good it was going to do him.
"Y'know if you're into stories and things like that. Its a pretty interesting tale ..."
Mezlijin peered into her eyes nervously, hoping to pick up on some kind of mutual interest in the subject, but sadly, he had no idea how to read a person's eyes, or even their body language.
