Azrael rolled his neck and padded toward the pride land border for the Stormborn again. The last fight had given him a shoulder wound and one hell of a bruise on his side, but he was feeling much better now. It had taken a few days to get everything healed up and he had used the time to practice a bit more with his sister. She had needed the training time as well, since she had lost her first attempt to gain entrance to the pride just as he had done himself. He hated the fact that he lost, but he was at least happy that Gabriel had not gotten in to add insult to his injuries.
Azrael knew she was not too far away making her second attempt to get into the pride. Even if she made it and he failed this one, he could take that and just come back again. She would have no reason to make fun of him and grill him for failing, since she had a failure to teach HER how hard it was. It was strangely satisfying to know that no matter the outcome he would not have to deal with the crap from his sister. The lion gave a challenging roar and waited for one of the Reavers to come in answer.

Bousvor watched as another challenge finished. He nodded politely to the reaver as he came back to join the group. The morning had been fairly active today. He was watching curiously to see if they were repeat attempts or those trying for the first time. Or what caused an inspate of challenges. Was it the losses were higher earlier? It would be something interesting to look into.
Not right now. He looked up as another lion roared a challenge. Right on time. Bousvor nodded to the other reavers, telling them that he'd get this one. He rose smoothly to his feet and headed over. As he approached he looked at the lion funny. There seemed to something oddly familiar about this one, but he could have sworn that they'd never met before. Something nagged at the back of his mind. Bousvor couldn't place his paw on it by the time he reached the lion and shoved it out of his mind. He needed to focus.

Azrael gave the approaching lion a nod, but did not wait for him to stop completely before rushing forward. The male was one thing and that was a powerhouse, or so he thought. He would sit back and wait if he had, to but it was not his style to do so for something like this. He was challenging, was he not? And thus he was going to make it every bit a challenge, which required force and passion. Truth, be told, Azrael did like a good spare or fight, but he loved starting them off with a good show of force even if he did not win in the end.
Azrael's attack was head on and perhaps a bit foolhardy, but he was going to do things like he always did. Full attention on the fight and all his muscle bent on his opponent. He was a firm believer that enough force could break through anything. He just hoped that today he would have enough force. He had not on his first attempt, being paired with a male that seemed to be very evenly matched to him was not a good day, especially when the lion managed to screw up and take some damage that had been enough to make him think he should call the fight quits and come back again.

Bousvor saw the lion coming. He wouldn't be pushed around so easily. The male huffed and charged forward to meet Azrael in the charge. He could feel the power in the other and matched it with his own, coming to a draw with his opponent. His paws scrapped across dirt. Bousvor watched for his opening as he gave a bit of ground.
With a turn of his head, he gave a nasty bite toward the other male. It was quick and sudden, without much warning.

Azrael was not surprised by the reaction of the other lion. Had he been in the other's situation, he likely would have done the same. It would not do to let another lion try to force him down, and the male was sure his opponent felt the same. The outsider respected the Reaver he faced for this, and it only fueled his determination to gain membership into the pride. Lions like this were what he wished to be surrounded by and call his own. He and his sister would fit in well with such others.
Azrael tried to take a bite at the other male's shoulder. He had the other male within reach, but the question was if he could land that bite right now. This fight was starting off seeming a lot like the last one, where his opponent was a bit too closely matched to him in strength. The dark lion would not give up easily, though. Perhaps this time he could tip the scales in his favor to win the fight. Let THIS male be the one that went home to lick his wounds. That would certinaly be nice for Azrael.

There was a sharp pain in his shoulder. Bousvor guessed that the male had gotten a good bite in. He could feel a couple trickles of blood matting down his fur. That was going to hurt in a bit. He raised his paw as he had his opponent close and tried to rake his claws along the other's side.

Azrael felt a little thrill when his teeth met the other male's shoulder and sunk in a little. It was not a lot, but he certainly had drawn blood. That blood was the best thing ever to the male. He had been working hard on this fight and to taste blood meant he was getting somewhere! He felt a surge of energy as he pressed onward. He would press in and take a few risks, if his opponent got so blows in, so be it. The male was after one thing, and that was to win. He was going to press his advantage while he had it.
Azrael took another bite at the other male, this time aiming down for the paws, and hoped he would be rewarded with the taste of blood again. He wanted to get this fight finished, but he really wanted it finished in HIS favor. Azrael would not let his sister down by not getting into the pride! He would have to see how she had fared with her challenge after he was done with this fight, too, but that was a thought for later. For now, there was the fight and the opponent to focus on.

Bousvor caught him trying to take a bite out of his paws. Oh no you don't! The male snarled and slashed his claws at his opponents ear. The bite was begining to sting and he didn't think the fight would last too much longer. The male's next couple of moves would decide if he'd be allowed in or sent away.

Azrael took the blow to the ear and huffed a little as he felt the claws dig in. Eh, it was just an ear. He dropped back a few steps and immediately started forward again, going for an angel on the opposite side of how he had been pressing forward before. It cost him some time, but with the other male having gotten that blow in, the dark lion was counting on him having to get his balance back a little. It was another risky tactic perhaps, but if he could not use force to get into this pride, there was not much hope for him here.
Azrael brought a paw up and tried to make a swipe at the other male's face. If he could just get the male to back up, to lose ground, it would help quite a bit. The dark male's other paws were already working on a step forward as he took his swipe. One did not give ground unless one had to, or so that was Azrael's thinking. He knew his sister would agree with him on such a thought, although her tactics were usually different than his own. Gender did make a little difference when it came to fighting.

His claws connected. It surprised him a bit. A couple small tuffs of fur came back with his paw. The successful strike had thrown him slightly off balance. Bousvor did a quick hop and a step to get it back. As he did the male came for him again. This time with a paw to his face. He didn't have time to get a defense up or a counter strike. He barely had time to turn his head. As it was the lion still struck his nose leaving a cut.
He huffed a couple times to clear the blood. "Enough. You have earned entery." It was difficult to talk with his nose stinging and bleeding. Not that he talked much anyhow.

Azrael was very very smug over getting that hit in, on his opponent, and just as he was preparing his next strike, the other male gave in. The dark male drew back and nodded to the lighter one. Azrael had earned his entry and that made the male quite happy. His first defeat had been disappointing, but he was certain that it had been as bad for Gabriel or worse, really. She had such high standards and losing was not part of those standards. He hoped she would do as well on her challenge.
Azrael started to fall into step with the other male, knowing that they would be headed back to the pride now. He would have to check for Gabriel later, but he was certain if he could make his way in, that she could do the same. She trounced his arse enough that there was no doubt she should be able to get into the pride. He just hoped that some day his sister would think about having a mate and a family, so that she could produce MORE fighters like herself.
