[King IC]: Crue [Queen IC]: Sabia`Deimos [Heir to the Throne IC] Crowley
Let's get back to basics, welcome to the Atra Pestis, name meaning is 'Black Plague'. The pride is a secluded group of animals that have taken a forest and cave setting as their home. The hierarchy works as a King's Court would.
The characters in the ranks section should show this in a more descriptive manner. So think of this that way. The lions, primarily, here are an aggressive breed, always eager to please their Royalty in any way shape or form and for any costs. Though the throne has only recently been taken it is to be assumed that Crue and Sabia have been accepted, whether out of fear or not, as the King and Queen.
Currently the pride is simply settling back into place, Crue has taken on his Advisor, a rather twisted creature himself and the Heir to their throne has been announced as their son Crowley. Sabia has decided on her lady in waiting, Noira and the pride seems on a slow and steady track to good fortune.

[The Heir That Never Was]
-RP / Personality Contest-
**Please note that there will be further ideas brought forward upon deciding the winner of this SoA as she will be a big part of a future plot for the pride. Thanks!~**
About Her
This pretty lady is original blood in the pride and the reason for the slave rank. When the pride was taken over by Crue and Sabia, the very recent King and Queen, this lady was dropped in rank. She was the original Heir to the throne and of course opposed the new rulers immediately.
Now: She has been dropped to the lowest possible rank and is NOT allowed to be left alone. No hunting or exploring for this one. Consider her a prisoner.
Prompt One
Life was good, the pride was calm and things seemed to simply fall into place. Then suddenly, from the dark of the forests you once believed protected you came a huge change. That change brought slaughter of familiar individuals and your own parents. How did you find out about the sudden attack? Were you present? If not, who did you hear from about it? Why did you not run?
Prompt Two
A ceremony is thrown in your honor, yet you do not understand why at first. The new rulers, presently still soaked in the blood of your Mother and Father, greet you with grins of their own and plenty of little heirs. This ceremony is to announce the new heir and announce a new rank. The rank is for you, but not you alone. For you, they have brought slavery into the pride. How do you feel? What was your reaction to the sudden onslaught and change?
Prompt Three
Free for all! Just in case my terribly written ideas above didn't spark anything. Don't worry I know I can be a little be dramatic. XD;

The NOT Heir Username: Aurrie Beaues SoA Name: Kuleta'amani Name Meaning: "Bring Peace" Rank: Slave Personality: Kuleta'amani is a proper lady, or at least she was raised to be. She was the first born, the eldest, and was groomed to take the place of her mother and father from an extremely young age. She was expected to be prim and proper, but was anything but in her earliest seasons. She was an adventurer at heart and a troublemaker in general, but her love for her family and pride surpassed this and she was tamed into being a proper representative of the pride as she neared her adolescent season. She is a knowledgable, soft spoken, yet firm creature with a sharp mind and equally sharp claws. She had what it took to lead and lead she did, assisting her parents in running the pride as she became a lovely adult and they were growing older. She made an excellent public speaker and often served as a representative for the royal family and council when dealing with other prides, as she had been trained to do. Her firm, yet understanding touch made her a prime choice to do so and her future in the pride was well received by most all members of her pride and their allies. While fierceness has always been valued, she had a knack for handling situations in a way that kept them from escalating to an all out brawl. The sudden change in her world has shaken her to her very core and, for the first time in her memory, she is truly unsure of who and what she is or what will become of her in the future. One thing is certain, she is furious and while she may act in a subdued manner, she craves the blood of those who stole her precious family from her. Her sudden position on the very bottom rung is difficult for her to process and being a prisoner in the lands she grew up in is nauseating at best. Her only comfort is the companionship of [Marakaraka], her personal bodyguard from cubhood, who found himself demoted right alongside her. Prompt#: 3 - A combination of 1 & 2 Prompt Reply:
"I'm sorry I brought you in to this, Mara..."
"Think nothing of it, princess." The hyena lowered his voice, the title he had called her for many a season catching in his throat slightly. He still used it, only never when another was close enough to hear. Hell, they hardly had time to speak anymore at all. If there was anything Kuleta'amani admired about Marakaraka, and there was much she admired, it was his unwavering loyalty to herself and her family.
"I must think something of it. I brought you back to this. I was your future leader and I failed you."
"You couldn't have known. The priestesses saw nothing of it and if they did, they did not inform us. It isn't your fault. You can't keep blaming yourself."
"I know, I know..."
The pair spoke in hushed tones, neither offering the other so much as a sideways glance. They busied themselves in the dull, monotonous work that was softening hides to be used as bedding for royal behinds. Both were slaves now. Kuleta'amani had once been next in line to rule the pride and the hyena, who had served as her personal bodyguard since her birth, both had a rude awakening only a few previous nights before and now the pair, who once were inseparable, found it nigh impossible to share a few private words. The heirs, a slew of obnoxious little cubs, had been paraded in front of the pride. Crowley, in particular, had been announced as the little monster that would eventually take the throne in his father's stead... Perhaps hating them was unfair of her. The cubs had not wronged her. They hadn't murdered her parents, nor her siblings. She hoped dearly that perhaps someone had escaped, survived to live another day, but never ending doubt consumed her.
Though it had been easily a cycle of the moon since she had returned to the pride, it seemed like only yesterday. Kuleta'amani had left the pride in the company of Marakaraka and a few other guards, serving as an emissary to a pride that was situated only a few days' travel away. While there was uneasy peace between them now, they had fought tooth and claw in the past and the lioness was determined to keep the peace between them alive, be it through calm negotiation or intimidation. The talks, themselves, had gone over smoothly enough and it felt very much like a victory for the young heiress. What she and her convoy returned to, however, was nothing short of a nightmare. Death had visited her lands and her parents' bodies were on display at the borders, signaling the changing of an era. There had been no time to flee and though her guard had fought valiantly alongside her, many of them were mercilessly slaughtered. Her own life and that of her canine companion had been spared. She had wondered why, but now she knew.
They were examples.
The lioness sighed as the silence between them deepened, her paws pounding away at the soft hides. Her paw pads ached and she was bone tired, but she knew they could not stop until permission was granted. She'd already had her rear handed to her once for resisting. What was worse, they used her affection for the hyena to control her, causing him harm for her misbehavior. Perhaps that was why they allowed her to see him on occasion, to force her to see the new scars he wore, the scars she had caused with her insolence. They had no family to hold over her head, but her friends were the next best thing.
"This can't go on, Mara. I can't let it." Anger burned in her bosom, but she did her best to keep her voice even and low. Though her position within the pride had thus far been one of keeping peace, rage consumed her and indignation stung her. Everyone likes revenge at some level and she was no different. The injustices that had been done to her family, blood-kin and pride-kin, were simply too great for the once-princess to ignore.
"There's the princess I know." It pleased the hyena to hear her words and feel her discontent. It showed in his slightly wagging tail, which he struggled to subdue, yet couldn't completely control. She wasn't going to roll over and take it.
"Oi! Ya'll quit talking and keep working!" The sudden, harsh voice of their keeper caused the pair to wince and grow silent, yet a purpose dwelled in the lioness that found herself on the bottom. She'd have to climb her way back up or die trying.

The NOT Heir Username: xKOVAKtheWOLFx SoA Name: Uhuru Name Meaning: "liberty" Rank: Slave Personality: Uhuru was always the one who was out there to take care of matters in the pride when her parents were too busy dealing with other issues. She is caring and loving, tending the wounded and sick, even if they were not from her pride. She was willing to help others, but enjoyed having a spark of superiority among her pride. As she grew older, adventure sparked in her and she would set forth on a journey every moon, giving her a chance to see life outside of the daily lifestyle that she was used to. She would have to be accompanied by some of those from her pride to watch over her though since there would be times that she would prefer not to head back home. She was lively and loving to everyone that she met, making her a suitable heir to the throne. Once she was casted to a slave rank though, she became very confused on what her purpose in life was since she was raised to become the new ruler. Carrying pride in her parents, she does not show resistance about being a prisoner, nor complain about it. With her guards, she secretly 'trains' with them, as they would teach her simple fighting techniques and often her unslaved friends would give her updates of what is happening to her kingdom. She is still loving to others, but wants her and her pride to be liberated and she knows that it is up to her to free them. Prompt#: 1 & 2 Prompt Reply: She was pushed into the depths of the forest that she had once called a sanctuary. Her sight went pitch black as she heard the roars and cries of those that she knew and loved all her life. What hurt the most was hearing her mother's. The ringing in her ears stung her like if a thousand bees just attacked her. She knew that she had to do something. In the distance, she was able to detect her father's scent of blood. Was he injured too? Hearing a stick crack next to her, her sight returned to see her father standing beside her.
"Uhuru.." he whispered. "Its up to you to liberate our people.. I'm so sorry to have failed you." His eyes were filled of pain. "Crue and Sabia.."
Her ears perked up and nuzzled her father's mane, wanting to feel and smell him before she knew what was to happen. One of them would die and it was to be him. "Father!" she cried, answered by no response as the male fell cold onto the ground. She was able to smell the foul scent of Sabia on him. Why them? She remembered seeing them for the first time, having an alliance with them. Why attack her pride? Being alone grieving for a while, she made up and mind. She would not just hide in the distance and watch her kingdom die. She would fight for the ones that she loved, especially her mother and father. "I won't disappoint you Father." she vowed, getting up and left the safety of the forest. To the cave she would go.
As she carefully walked avoiding blood, bodies, and bones, she gave a quick prayer to each one of them, even if they were not of her kind. At the foot of the cave, Uhuru's green eyes froze on the spotted body that lay in front of her. The body of her mother. She could no take this anymore. A laugh was put out in back of her, causing her pelt to rise up with fear.
"Well, if its not the princess." the one called Sabia smirked. "Say, isn't that your dearest mother?" The older female waited for Uhuru to respond and then tossed the queen's dead body into the air, watching as it crashed to the ground. "Oh, don't worry, princess, that would not be you." She placed her tail over the shoulder of Uhuru. "Crue and I would love to meet you. After all, you are the ruler of this kingdom now."
She blinked. Now the ruler? "I'd demand for you and your kind to leave my lands immediately." she growled, moving away from Sabia's grasp.
"Why no dear, Crue and I are giving you a ceremony. A ceremony to give you your new rank in this kingdom of yours princess." Sabia smiled. "Now, come along."
Filled with uncertainty, she followed as she was led to the male covered with her mother and father's blood - Crue. "Princess..." he greeted in a way that would send chills down the spine. "You are to be wedded to my son, Crowley. That way, both royal bloodlines would continue into one. Now wouldn't you like that?"
"No." she growled, staring at Crue with hatred. "You think that I would want to even like you and your kind?! How absurd!"
Sabia leapt in front of Uhuru. "What's absurd is giving away your chance of remaining a princess." she hissed.
Crue rose his tail for the two to stop talking. "Alright then." He stared straight into the eyes of Uhuru. "From this day forth, I condemn you to the ranking that no lion would ever want. I call you forth to the ranking of a slave." He roared loud enough for the rest of those in the land to here, whether it were his followers or Uhuru's. "She is to not leave the lands, but to be watched by guards every day. She would not be allowed to hunt, explore, or anything else out of pleasure until she and the rest of her followers die."
The announcement brought another cold chill down Uhuru's spine as she accepted the demotion within her kingdom. She would free her followers someday.

The NOT Heir Username: L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 SoA Name: Halali'Mrithi Name Meaning: Rightful Heir Rank: Slave Personality: Halali was a strong, upstanding example of how one should act, and was a model for others in the pride to look up to. It all changed, however, when Crue and Sabia slaughter her family and left her no better than dead. Watching her parents be killed Prompt#: 1 Prompt Reply: Halali had never expected this. She always was vigilant and knew there was always danger 'round every corner, but this? The forest was suppose to protect them, not to give demons like these two a way in. Halali had been a princess, the heir. It should have been her who took over after her parents death, but that was not how it happened, Crue and Sabia had planned the murders too well for any sort of 'heir' to get in their way. The worst of all of it was that Halali still had nightmares about it.
It became harder to find solace in sleep. It seemed every time she closed her eyes the images of Crue and Sabia ripping her parents apart filled her mind, like it was all she could ever see in her dreams. Night after night it started all the same; She would be sitting there, with her parents, talking about the most recent news. They had just returned from a diplomatic mission and Halali had been left in charge for about the third time, a test of sorts to see how she would handle ruling the pride when they left it to her. The Forest had looked so peaceful behind them. Their voices carrying thoughtlessly as they discussed how the pride was doing, and how her parents mission had gone.
Then, like every other time she had this dream, a dark chill swept through the air and made Halali shiver. It was a dream, she knew, but it always seemed real. Crue and Sabia would emerge from the forest, giant and menacing, while very like how they were in the waking world, there were nightmare qualities to them to make Halali even more terrified. So much bigger than they should have been, and the evil in their eyes seemed to glow like embers in a fire. They would leap through the air and take down her mother and father. Blood, and gore everywhere. Halali frozen, terrified.
Then a scream. Halali woke up instantly, and soon realized the scream had come from her. She shivered and curled back up on the ground, doing everything she could to keep herself awake. Sleep was not worth it anymore. Sometimes she felt like maybe if she kept herself awake long enough, she would faint into a dreamless sleep. While the waking world was horrific, as she watched Crue and Sabia turn her pride into an abomination of itself, with their evil little spawn running around, her dreams were worse. At least now, here, she was kept a prisoner and rarely made to face Crue or Sabia. She could escape that horrible image of their coats covered in the glistening blood of her parents, giving her a pair of matching, cruel and wicked smiled.
She would never be free. Not unless she somehow escaped. And while she wanted to run away, like she should have last night, she knew it was futile. No one in their right mind would help her escape her prison. And even if she could... she felt as if she needed to stay. There were still creatures here who had been loyal to her and her parents and who had suffered for it, and those who still held loyalty, even if it was in secret. Something told Halali she needed to remain here until something changed, or she was killed. She had to be here. Just in case something happened and she could redeem her pride and retake her home.
But even if it never happened, she still felt something keeping her here, other than the guards and the figurative cage she lived in. She had some purpose yet, and she would see it through. Her parents had died for nothing, but her death would someday mean something.

About Him
This cheetah is a blank slate newcomer to the pride. Please introduce him to us!
New Blood Username: SoA Name: Name Meaning: Rank: Personality:
New Blood Username: Tilly_Milly_wolf SoA Name: Balansira Name Meaning: "Balance" in Bulgarian Rank: Hunter Personality: Is one of balance, always trying to keep things equal. He always tries to keep the amount and the genders of his hunts equal, the amount of visitors equal (sometimes), but doesn't mind one tap of unbalance.
Quote:
New Blood Username: xKOVAKtheWOLFx SoA Name: Matumaini Name Meaning: hope Rank: Guard Personality: He is actually not a blank slate cheetah since he was once friends with the dead king and queen. Being their former friend without the new rulers knowing is easy and he keeps a close eye out on the former princess, making sure that she is fit and takes care of her. His aggression with safety was what made him a guard.
Quote:
New Blood Username: Ici Chiot SoA Name: Ghofiri Name Meaning: Forgiveness, pardon Rank: Hunter Personality: Ghofiri is pretty put out by his own pelt. Joining a pride that prizes dark coated animals, Ghofiri’s bright white fur earns him no favors. He’s extremely self-conscious of his appearance and will often attempt to cover up some of his white with mud and dirt. He’s always fretting about how people think of him, expecting everyone to judge him by his fur color. Ghofiri has become quite reclusive because of this, and will never approach another animal of his own accord. It makes for lonely living, but it’s easier than getting turned away or snarled at. He has very little self-esteem and worries constantly about others around him.
Ghofiri has no aspirations to gain a higher rank in the pride. He is a good hunter, something he’s not afraid to be proud of, and delights in the chase and kill. Getting his pretty fur all splattered with blood is no bad thing either. He’s a very energetic young man and often spends his spare time practicing his racing skills and coursing any small animal that crosses his path. Running is one of the few times he feels at peace with himself.

New Blood Username: CaliWolfe SoA Name: Nyeupe'balaa Name Meaning: "White plague" Rank: Nanny (If not open still, then guard.) Personality: Nyeupe appears as the kindest, most friendly and forgiving person you'll ever meet. Someone who's great with children, who flatters you with compliments- no matter who you are, he simply wants to please. Someone who can keep your darkest secret from sufacing, and someone who will protect you at his own expense. However, if one does something he doesn't like, they will soon discover that his charming smile is farcade of sorts.
He is passive agressive.
One might not find that to be to dangerous at first. However, since he has his remarkably well thought out act to please those around him. He exploits others, digging up as much dirt as he can about them without seeming to do little more than make evening chatter. Knowing this, he can easily ruin the lives of those who threaten to ruin his. In short he lives a life of collecting and spreading information that will benefit himself, and possibly strip others of whatever pride they might own.

New Blood Username: L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 SoA Name: Ukali-ficha Name Meaning: to conseal fury / fierceness / rage Rank: Knight Personality: He seems soft spoken and calm at first. Ever helpful to the pride members and always looking out for Crue and his family. However, to an outsider, or anyone Crue and Sabia deem an enemy, he is a cruel, blood thirsty b*****d with a mile wide bad streak, and anyone who works with him, or has seen him in action knows, and more still had heard stories or rumours perhaps. His white fur is mostly kept in impeccable shape, he having a bit of OCD about keeping himself clean, however, when he gets into one of his moods, or goes out on any sort of hunt, or into any kind of fight, he wears any blood covering him with pride. Swift and deadly, he may not be a big mean lion, but he is smart, quick witted and very fast. He could easily think, run and fight circles around any guard, and this is why he makes a fantastic Knight.
