Marsh gazed at the area around him with focused concentration, looking for any signs of movement where there shouldn't be any, or really, anything that looked out of the ordinary. When given the chance to reflect on the recent changes in his life, he was rather bemused by the change of events.
He'd always been a bit of a wanderer, moving from pack to pack, never staying in one area for two long, and never getting involved with the other travelers. Now he was a permanent member of a pack. He had a position with some authority and a great deal of responsibility. He took his job as head scout very seriously. He knew that he and the other scouts were responsible for keeping a close watch on the pack's lands and borders.
A younger scout came sneaking up behind him, quietly and efficiently. Marsh was rather pleased with his progress and gave the other scout a friendly nod. The younger male returned it eagerly before taking over his post.
Marsh slunk quickly through the area, staying cautious until he was well within the borders before he relaxed and moved into an easier stroll. He had nowhere specifically to go, but he was wound up after his watch. A walk would help relieve him of some of his energy before he returned to his den.

Kelello kept her head down, her body low, and fluffy orange tail tucked between her legs. While Marsh himself had never been particularly unkind to her, she feared hyenas in general and was taught to display submission to anyone and everyone, even the young pups.
"N-n-no one around the border, all is well," she said in one breath, dipping her head lower. She saw Marsh's eyes scan her frame, and she felt very small and vulnerable. It was embarrassing, what she had become.
Feeling a rush of weakness, Kelello's legs began to buckle. She felt dizzy, parched. The heat beat down on her. "I - is there," Kelello wheezed, "water."
