How did the lion win the vulture's respect? Nyesui was walking along through the Plateau, trying to ignore the incessant urge to scratch at the flea bites she, like the rest of the pride, was ridden with. Oh what she wouldn't give to be free of the nagging irritation for just a couple minutes. She continued walking along and heard a faint noise off in the distance. The black lioness looked in the direction the noise had come from but she didn't see anything. She continued on her way until she heard the sound again. This time she decided to continue her walk towards the sound; what if there really was someone or something there?
As she got closer, the sound got louder. She kept walking and noticed that the sound was coming from behind a rock. She looked behind the rock, that was about the size of her paw, she saw a tiny bird laying with her claw caught under it as she let out her loud cries for help.
"It's okay, little one," Nyesui replied calmly, "you're going to be okay," she did her best to cajole the small bird as she brought her paw up and rolled the rock away. She leaned down and nuzzled the tiny head of the chick. "Shh, little one, let's get you home."
