The white lion had practiced diligently as best he could in the intervening time between his defeat at the paws of the green and red lioness and this new attempt to gain entry to the Myrsky Syntynyt. Or, as he'd learned they were also know, the Stormborn. It was a fitting title for the pride, from what he could tell.

Perhaps this would be the day he earned it for his own. Once again the white lion stood at the border of their lands and called out.

"I would fight a Reaver, for the chance to join this pride," he announced as he saw a lion's shape.

User Image Azrael had been given patrol, or taken it more like. He was bored and needed something to do. The viking he was to go out on had been delayed for the moment, so he took patrol to fill his time. They likely would go out tomorrow morning since some things had come up to delay them leaving today. It was all for the best, he supposed, the scouts had said the 'merchants' they were going to harass were delayed as well, so it gave them time to prepare for the ambush and everything that went with it. Extra preparations were being made by the rest of the party, but Az had come here to keep his skillz sharp.

Besides, if they got a new member, maybe that would be another lion that went on that viking? They could always use another Reaver in Azrael's opinion. Freeborns were all well and good, but without the Reavers, the Freeborns would not be very well protected. He watched the white and green lion approaching, wondering if it was the one his sister had spoken of a while ago. Who knew? The lion certainly seemed eager to have a fight, and Az was itching for one as well. "Oh good, I was hoping you were here for a challenge. I hate scaring off little flowers." Az stepped toward the male, but left the first move to him.

The white studied his opponent. A black, red and white lion who seemed sturdy enough. But he wasn't certain what the other male's words meant. Was this stranger trying to insult him? Well, insults had nothing to do with combat skills and Ensis wasn't about to let words shift his focus away from the coming conflict.

"You may find me difficult to scare off," he informed the other lion.

He waited, gauging the moment, before striking, claws outstretched to score that black flank.

"I need a good fight, so please, be very hard to scare off." Arzael took a step back to let the male's swing only partly hit him and then sprung forward to lunge for the other male full force. One might as well get into things full force. The dark lion had a bit of blood let from the claws, but it was not something that would stop him or even slow him down. Blood was something to worry about later, after the duel was over and the decision of joining was made. He had other things to worry about right now and the blood would dry just as well without his attention as with it.

Azrael growled softly as he tried to get his teeth into the other male as well as wrap his paws around him. He really wanted to just plow the other male over and down onto the ground. It was not likely to work, but he did like trying it when he could. It was so much fun to plow an opponent over when possible and watch them try to recover from it. Of course Az had been knocked over himself a few times, so either way he would keep going.

Not connecting solidly was a bit of a problem, but Ensis quickly found that he had bigger problems. Lion-sized problems as the other male grappled him and tried to push him to the ground. Magenta eyes narrowed as he snapped at the black lion. His teeth clacked on air, but he refused to allow the other lion to push him over.

Of course, now this left them in a fairly awkward tableau as they wrestled, with the pride member on the uppermost and the white lion below, refusing to yield. At least, not yet.

Azrael grinned as he kept snapping and pushing at his opponent. He did love struggling like this. It meant he'd managed to take the other part off guard a bit and give them something to test their strength. The other male seemed to be quite strong as he managed to keep his paws and not fall over. The dark male was quite impressed, really. About the only one he hadn't really pushed over when catching them by surprise was his sister and that was saying something.

Az gave the male one last hard shove with a spring of his back paws to try to get him over, if he didn't topple from that, Az was going to let go and retreat a little. Otherwise he was going to turn this into a rolling wrestling match of a fight and see who ended up winning. Truthfully, if the male proved his strength enough, it wouldn't take a clear win to get in, but a clear loss was definitely out of the question, so the male pushed onward.

Yes, this was definitely reminiscent of wrestling with his brothers as a cub. They struggled against each other, neither making any true headway. His opponent gave a powerful shove and Ensis decided that enough was enough. He dropped and rolled before regaining his feet, looking to see if his move had taken the black and red male by surprise or not.

But he didn't rush in for another attack. Instead the white lion stood there, not even circling, just watching, waiting to see how his opponent reacted and recovered...or not. Sometimes the best tactics were knowing when not to attack.

Azrael as a little thrown off guard, but managed to land on his paws and retreated back a few steps to watch the other. Oh well, he hadn't managed to drop ON the other male, but at least he had tested his strength pretty well. It seemed about even to Azrael's own, he would think. It should end up being a fun fight for that reason. He gave a grin at the other male and pretended to stretch lazily, keeping his muscles tensed just enough to spring if the other decided to take the bait and rush. The dark male was leaning a lot about using his playfulness to trick others.

It had been his sister's suggestion since he did not come off as very serious, to us his assumed lack of ambition to his advantage. Azrael thought it was certainly worth a try, anyway. "What's wrong, little flower?" He teased good naturedly. "Going to give up and run home afterall?" He never once took his eyes from the male, but he did make it seem like he was unconcerned with the other's presence. He really hoped the baiting trick worked.

Ensis reminded himself that words were nothing, actions and injuries were all. And this was no time to lose his temper. Clearly that was what his opponent was hoping for, but the white lion was uninterested in giving in. He certainly never bothered wasting his breath on insults when he could find far more productive uses for it.

Still, he wasn't going to make any progress in this bout if he didn't take risks. So he would appear to give in to the taunting. Ensis rushed the other male, claws and teeth outstretched, intent on his opponent's neck. But he was hardly blind with rage. He was wary and ready, expecting the black and red lion to do something to try and avoid the blow.

Azrael waited until the male was getting fairly close, not sure if the other had really taken the bait or not, but not particularly caring at this point. He was getting the rush out of the other male that he wanted, so he would settle for that for now. When the other was close enough, the dark male dropped to the ground, flat as he could be and tried to spring back up under the other to throw him off balance. The maneuver was risky and could end up with some rather nasty injuries on Az' part.

The first injury was the fact that he had not flattened quite fast enough and some claws bit into one shoulder, but that did help Az to get down faster if nothing else. On his way back up he took a bit more claw to hide, but that gave him hope that he would manage to spring the other lion off balance and get something in. If the other were watching too closely, though, he might avoid the spring and just slash Azrael a good bit for his effort. The dark male was really hoping that luck was with him right now.

The white lion did not see the spring until it was already a fact, but that was fine by him. It gave him the leverage he needed to get underneath and attempt to fasten his jaws on his opponent's throat. Not to rip it out, of course, but to show he could do such a move. Not to mention that after the fight he'd had, it would be a rather satisfying finish.

He wasn't hoping to do a great deal of damage by this point, rather hoping to prove his knowledge and skill. To say wordlessly that he was worthy of being Stormborn.

At least, that was the idea.

Azrael had to give the male credit for that last move. The latch onto his throat was pretty good. Az dropped back and tried to push the other off his throat. He was satisfied with what he had seen. The male had strength and skill as he had thought, and he certainly was not going to keep the male out of the pride at this point. It was time to make that clear, as far as the dark lion was concerned. Thankfully he could still speak. "You have proven yourself." It was the first challenger that Azrael would get to lead back to the pride, that was something.

"I'll lead you home, Outlander. Welcome to the Stormborn." Azrael prepared to lead the other male back to the pride. Maybe the male would even decide to go out on the viking tomorrow. They were looking for a few more for their party, but that was up to the Captain to decide, not Azrael. Azrael was just the reaver he only lead outlanders and thralls into the pride, he did not lead viking raids. "One day, I shall kill you, brother." He gave the male the viking greeting.

As the other male addressed him, Ensis released his hold and faced his opponent. It almost didn't seem real. He'd...won? Made it in? That was something of a relief, particularly after how his first attempt had gone. Even given that this had been no stroll in the sun, it still seemed unreal that he had made it in so simply.

He wasn't certain about the greeting that the black and red lion gave him, and decided to not comment at this time. If it was something customary to the Stormborn, Ensis trusted he would learn it soon enough. For now, he would just accept it.

"My thanks...brother," he replied, supposing that must be an acceptable form of greeting. Brothers in arms? Perhaps. It seemed that combat skills would not be all he learned here.

And he intended to learn quite a lot.
