(banner stolen with permission from Kaelyndra) Hello, welcome to a much delayed contest for the Ithambo'hlabathi pride aka the Bonelands! If you don't know much about it, click on the on the link above for the pride's subforum where you'll find a lot of interesting information as well as pretty pictures!
It's an active and fun place to rp and we have some pretties to offer who are in desperate need of owners! Undubitably and I own the parents but we've been too busy to contest them off and they've grown straight into adults. The winners are free to do some backlog rps with the kids as cubs or start playing them as adults right from the start.

1. Follow Gaia’s ToS
2. Be nice (no whining, guilt-tripping, etc.)
3. This is an Ithambo’hlabathi contest so technically the girls should stay in the pride. IC, that's what the mother and the pride would expect of them. OC, however, they can leave the pride if the winner comes up up with an interesting plot intensive scenario. We just ask that you PM us for permission first. The white girl, for instance, could go to the Firekin as they are allies of the Bonelands lions and train together at the outpost.
4. The boy can go anywhere. Under very special circumstances, he can also stay in the pride (read up on male roles in the pride if you’re interested).
5. You can tweak your entry until the last minute but please make a note if you’ve edited your post
6. You can try for as many as you like but you can only win one
Basic Information
- The pride consists of a large group of females being led by a small group of males
- Aba = plural. Umzingeli = one female / Abazingeli = females
- These cubs will be/were doted on by females as they are the first cubs of the head Umholi
- The pride went through harsh times while the cubs were growing up but they probably didn’t feel much of it as Baie and the other Abazingeli made sure they always had plenty to eat.
- The cubs were colored by Meepfur. The adult stages were colored by Ecavi.

The Family
Baie’mooi
She’s a tough girl who is confident of her hunting abilities. She’s close to her niece Buna who happens to be older than her - and also shares most of her tradionalist views. She favors dark coats/manes over lighter ones and would never mate with an unproven male (like a rogue who didn’t challenge an Umholi for a spot in the pride) not even during rogue swap. Baie considers being the mother of Gakere’s first litter as a great accomplishment and will dedicate a great deal of time to educate each of her children. While not on purpose, she will obviously favor the dark-maned male cubs.
She's energetic and while not terribly set on the pride's traditional gender roles, she will not easily admit her honest opinions on the matter and will train her girls to be efficient huntresses and encourage the boys to learn basic hunting skills and train at the Firekin outpost. She regards the Firekin alliance with optimism and would duel a lot more at the outpost if she didn’t worry about that behavior being considered improper.
Gakere
Gakere, is the current ruling Umholi. He's in his prime, very intelligent and treats all the females with respect. Unlike his father, Gakere believes all lions have a chance to prove themselves. No leniency should be given to those that slack, and all should have a chance to rise to a rank regardless of gender or appearance. He won't be giving his own cubs special treatment but they will likely get plenty of doting, however, from the females in the pride, especially their mother.
Gakere has a cool, logical mind, and is the clear head Abaholi of the pride, despite what others might say. He is the son of the previous head Abaholi, Matifu, and he is thought to have killed his father in order to prove his rightful ownership of his position. The fight, however, was not seen by the majority of the pride.

Personality Contest
Females in this pride have simple lives for the most part. They live together as sisters, hunt together, take care of the pride’s cubs and gossip about the males that protect the pride. Some also enjoy a bit of sparring training at the Firekin outpost. So, tell us. This girl has been treasured since birth but what makes this girl special? Future Plans
This poor boy. His days of being spoiled are over! He’s a big lion like his father and grandfather (or not if you wish…) and he knows it won’t be long before the Abaholi and Abazingeli throw him out. He’s going to have to learn to live alone! Will he stick around his brothers for a while? Where will he go? Will he become a rogue or look for a pride to join? What Else?!There will be random prizes for those who post and keep the thread active. Sometimes I may roll someone or just pick the first avatar or cool signature that I see.
It probably won't be something like this or this because i don't have that much time. But it should be at least a little sketch or animation, whatever I'm feeling at the moment.

Prompt Number: 1
Prompt reply:The Abazingeli had just brought in a large sized carcass, and they eat as much as they needed to. Anya's momma just said to eat as much as she wanted, but Anya's friend eyes the carcass hungrily. She sees the sad glint and the hungry glint in her eyes, she would kill for a meal it seems, but Anya's friend wouldn't do that to her pride, everyone knew better. Anya feels pity for her, and doesn't want her to not eat, she would never forgive herself. She walks up to the carcass, takes a large bite, puts the whole thing in her mouth, pretends to chew it and swallow. The meat tastes tender in her mouth and she wants to eat the chunk in her mouth. She brings it over to the Lusizi, her friend. Looking around, she drops it on the ground in front of her. "I'm not bringing anymore, but make sure no one sees you eating it, we might get in trouble." Anya's friend looks suprised, but Anya gives her a sharp look and says "Hurry! I'm only trying to be nice! Now I gotta go eat! Bye!" Anya hurries back over to te carcass, eating with her brothers and sisters. Before the entire carcass is gone, she takes another large chunk out of it, keeps it in her mouth, brings it over to her friend. "Here, eat this chunk too, you still look hungry..." Her friend has the lok of thanks in her eyes, and gobbles the chunk of meat. Anya's mother calls her over, and Anya stops and shouts behind her "Bye! Talk to you tomorrow!" Her Lusizi friend waves a paw goodbye, and finishes the last bit of food she hid under her body from Anya's mother. Anya falls asleep that night with a smile on her face, because she knows she had done the right thing.

Name: Nafsi ya Nishati
Personality: Nafsi is a trickster. She loves to set others up, and play tricks on people. As a cub, she played friendly tricks on her friends and siblings and mastered the ways of being a trickster. She can be sarcastic and flirty, because in her mind, she finds that trickery and flirting go hand in hand. She plays hard to get, and is a wanderer at heart. She always snuck away from her family. She would wander around the rogue lands until someone found her, and she was always pouting when someone did find her. Being older know, she knows she has more responsibilities, and that she could get away with more wandering. She could even leave and wander forever if she wanted to. Nafsi tends to learn things quick, and has trouble making friends and trying to be friendly because of her sarcastic nature. Although being a trickster makes her a bit of a loner most of the time, sometimes a part of her comes out where she is bubbly and outgoing, but she hides it well.

Prompt Number: Prompt #1: As a young cub, you notice that one of your friends is trying to get close to a carcass that the adults just brought in. You know she’s very hungry – she told you before – but the Abazingeli won’t allow her to get close to the food because she’s a Lusizi. Instead they encourage you and your siblings to eat. The Abaholi have already eaten so you know you’re supposed to do what your mother and the other Abazingeli say. But how do you feel about this situation? What do you do?
Prompt reply:
Mother pushes me and my brother and sister forward, toward to the buffalo that the hunters have brought home. The Abaholi have just finished and are settling down a few tail-lengths away to groom themselves.
Across the buffalo, I can see Ushomi. She tries to pad forward only to be snarled at by one of the hunters. I watch her as she complains about her hunger, and asks her mother why she is not allowed to eat. I can hear her mother's answer - that since her father is not an Umholi, she is not as special in the eyes of the pride.
I am filled with anger and sadness all at once; my eyes start to sting and water. Ushomi is, too, special! Just as special as me! The hunters have no right to treat her this way.
I'm a little startled by mother's nudge as she tries, again, to push me toward the food. In a heartbeat, I decide what I'm going to do. I fold my ears back and sit down, firmly planting my rump in the grass and digging my claws into the dirt beneath me.
"I'm not hungry." I lie. But mother catches me; she argues that I already told her I was hungry, and noses at me to get up. Still, I refuse.
"It's not fair! If she can't eat, I won't eat." I state boldly, glaring around at the gathered pride. I can see by their reactions that the lionesses don't like the way I'm acting, but I don't care. If they want to be mean, I can't stop them, but I will not treat anyone like they're less important than me just because of their parents. Even if it means going to bed hungry with an angry mother.
