Pride politics had never concerned the Huntress, since she ranked so far down on the social structure to begin with. Since she had been separated in rank from her dear twin at such an early age she had grown bitter and distanced; a threat, an outsider, a danger. And yet, she had been surprised to see the real danger had come from the royal family themselves. A Prince who would kill his grandparents, then parents, and threaten siblings all for the throne....
It made her sick.
She hadn't been at the Coronation; she'd been hiding in the shadows, disgusted by it all, and then to hear of the uproar Meshach had started. Calling the "King" out for his acts, being beaten down, starting a war of all things! Only to be chased out...
Runa breathed through her nose, and exhaled heavily. "Bullshit, all of it," she murmured, kicking sand as she paced through the night.

She disliked everything about this night. Rona scowled up towards the moon and slowly shook her head. It was a traitorous thing revealing her all that time ago as it had. As she wandered next to the eastern river the lioness found herself staring at the moon’s reflection which danced on the water. And as she turned to stare into the depths the flash of blue eyes, her eyes, caught her attention. She had tried desperately to keep them closed until her sister had opened her eyes as well, but she hadn’t been able to resist peeking just once to check on her twin. Her mistake had been their separation.
“Stupid eyes…separating us.” Splashing a paw to break up the reflection Rona sighed. She wish she had the same eyes as Runa so that she could have swapped places with her twin. Even with that slight difference between them she had felt the beginning of a gap and now that they were adults with their own places she felt like a canyon existed between them. Once the lioness would have fought to stay next to her sister’s side, but now she kept to herself while keeping on the façade of everyday life. The hunt kept her busy and when possible she strayed near the river to keep to herself most times. Most preferred the water hole to the long trek that kept them from the center of the pride.
Fortunately that was the last place she wanted to go. Even with constant worry about her twin, Rona hated being back there where chaos was reigning. Uprisings and murder….so much treachery. All day such things had haunted her thoughts. And as it had she had picked back up a habit from her adolescence – the lioness had begun to track her sister through the lands. And it was as Runa cursed the lioness caught up to her twin’s side, “It is pretty bad isn’t it?”

Turning chocolate brown eyes to murky blue Runa scoffed. Seeing her sister during these late nights wasn't an uncommon occurrence, though it had happened less and less as the years came upon them. It had been just as much her fault as her sisters, though; a failing on both the twins. A necessary fault, but a separation never the less.
"Disgraceful," Runa curled her lip, kicking at another chunk of sand. "Family fighting against once another...and now slaves are being treated as 'Royal Guards'." She scoffed once again. It was...wrong. Slaves were being the touch of the Great Lion, but now the King wanted them within his personal fold? Was he so afraid of death that he now picked on the hopeless and damned?
"If the Great Lion shines on the Noble classes, then I have to wonder if he turned his back on the pride to allow such a thing to happen."

Rona could read her twin’s emotions strongly. In turn she reflected them, but as usual couldn’t find herself expressing those emotions as well as Runa. All that existed was that calm, outer shell while her gaze though burned. It was disgraceful and so unlike the pride that they had been taken in by. Once she would have done anything for the royal family, for this home that had taken care of the twins, but now…things were starting to change in her heart. And while she recognized slaves as lions caught by fate just as she and her twin had been the shift in their placement was strange.
Strange and backwards.
To hide behind those who were oppressed with no choice…her gaze darkened. It was taking advantage of those who just wanted something better. It was a coward’s act to hide like that. Everything that had been happening lacked honor. Maybe it was the rogue blood of the warrior in her veins that burned at the thought, but Rona couldn’t stand those who lied and stole away from a fair fight.
Her sister’s comment about the Great Lion made Rona laugh softly, “I wonder the same. Has he really ever been doing anything? I feel as if he shines just to shine while letting us poor souls below stumble about.” As if to say look at me, so high and mighty while the rest of you have to stay on the ground below and follow my own whims. It was sad that something revered as something so great allowed such events to unfold. Really her heart was cold against it. What could had the Great Lion done for her and her sister after all? And now darkness was in the pride despite the moonlight…
