Kaitrus hadn't been able to get the soft yellow colored lioness from his thoughts. It was strange when one female got him so hot and bothered. He tended to have a wandering eye, though he never really interacted with the women he watched. But he could have had he wanted to, and that was good enough for him.
He would have been humming, if he wasn't in the mainland of the pride, with everyone around him. He didn't want anyone thinking he was a wuss, or a sissy. That wouldn't do well at all. He had thought about how to go about telling Astrid that he wanted her. He supposed maybe asking if she wanted him too worked.. BUt he had asked his father, who had said that to get a mate, you had to claim them. His mother had not been very keen on Hinoko when she had met him, but look at them now.. They were perfect for each other, or so Kaitrus thought.
The pale thrall was looking for someone. Her friends, Fen and Karm, surely they were around here somewhere. Her eyes wandered, spotting several forms of lions. Some she had not seen before, she was sure they were reavers coming back from their raids. Others, well, she had met.
One in particular stood out. That male lion, what was his name? Astrid was never the greatest lioness to remember others, just that he had met this peculiar lion the other day. (and by met, she meant actually talked to).
She padded towards the male, keeping a distance, her dark pink eyes just watching from afar. It was only right to say hello, wasn’t it? They were friends…acquaintances…some sort of pairing of the two?

The bands of returning parties of reavers were causing a bit of a hubbub within the lions around him. So many were talking, and rejoicing. It was a bit chaotic. He quickly leapt out of the way of a lumbering male that was running towards him, only realizing that he was just rushing to meet with his wife. It was a joyous, loving meeting, that would probably never have happened with anyone but her. It caused him to smile.
Though as he looked up, his fire colored eyes caught dark pink ones, and they were instantly locked. He smiled, and began padding forward. He supposed if she didn't want him to approach she could run. But he was hoping that she wouldn't mind his presence, as he would likely feel very rejected if she were to run after all.
He was coming closer. What should she do?
Her mind told her to run, but her paws stayed put. The male was getting closer, and closer. Run, Astrid. Go. she told herself, yet frozen on the spot she was until the male was in talking proximity to her.
“Uhmm…Hi…” she said quietly to the darker male. Kaitrus? That was his name. “We meet again?” The pride, though large, really consisted of the same homebodies. Those were went out of the lands usually did so on a consistent basis. It was bound for her to see this male again.

"Hello again, Astrid." He said, his voice calm. It betrayed him, as he was far from calm right now, but he was thankful it was at least hiding his insecurity fairly well at the moment. He didn't know why he was so nervous. He was a decent looking male, strong and capable of siring strong cubs. That was what was wanted right? He wasn't sure what more was expected of him when it came to a wife, but he knew that he could at least do that.
"I was hoping to run into you again, actually." He said with a chuckle, as he bowed his head in greeting, much like he had the last time they had met. It was definitely hard for him to keep his compsosure right now..Especially being he was about to try to claim her for his own. He wasn't exactly sure he was as confident in that as his father had been.
You always could tell who was a good guy and who wasn’t. Kaitrus definitely was a good guy. After all, who would remember a name after such a brief meeting between the two.
“Oh?” now she was curious. Why would he be hoping to run into her.
“I’ve been…busy,” her mother had given birth to a bunch of cubs (a bunch in Astrid’s book that was). As Alehandra was pretty much out of commission for the time being, Astrid wanted to make sure she could provide for her mother, just like the older reaver had done for herself.
“Why were you looking for me?”

Her curious face was adorable, and it was all he could do not to smile like a damn dope when she looked up at him. Her pink eyes glittered and he felt his heart began beating in his chest like a wild hare's that was being chased down and was inches from death. He took a deep breath, before smiling and then shrugging.
"Well.. I was looking for you, because I had some news." He said, and he took a seat in front of her, his tail curling over his paws. He was already tall, but sitting just seemed to make him look taller.
If he wasn't so nervous, he might have asked why she was busy. But being as his heart was about to explode, he was finding it hard to try to keep up small talk.
"Astrid.." He started, though words seemed to fail him. Damn it, he had to be confident doing this. He was screwing it up already! "Astrid, I really like you, and I've thought of nothing but you since we ran into each other before." He blurbed, and his orange eyes caught hers.
"I want to claim you as mine." He said finally.
The lioness tilted her head, like a curious puppy dog. Kaitrus was sure acting much stranger than any other male she had come across.
“You like me?” Fen’li had said she liked Astrid, and Karm too. Kaitrus liked her the same way? That meant she had more friends then. “Then I like you too!” It probably wasn’t in the same way that Kai thought it as, but it could work. It would work, eventually.
“C…claim?” If her head could tilt even more, it would’ve. “I…should talk to mother first?” What was this being claimed thing? Surely Ali would know.

When she said she liked him in return, he felt a huge smile grow over his features. His heart exploded with happiness. Well that was good, she liked him in return. Though he didn't even think to question the way she had meant. He just assumed she had meant it the way he had.
"Yes, yes. You should talk to your mother. Best she is kept up on these things." He said, confidence making him slightly more formal, but he was still the comfortable, friendly male.
"I will seek you out then. Find you in a day's time." He said, eyes landing on hers as he leaned forward and nuzzled against her throat. "We can discuss things then. Just get time to get used to the idea." He said, his voice gentle now that he was close to her, nuzzling against her. It was a way of showing his affection, but it was also a way of adding his scent to her, keeping her marked as his
Wh…What was he doing? Astrid froze again as the lion nuzzled up to her. Ali had done that to her many times before when she was little, and then out of affection as she aged. Kaitrus was doing the same thing to her now. She blinked, backing away slightly when the dark male had finished.
“I’ll…go look for her now?” She questioned the male. She certainly had some questions to ask her mother now. This claiming thing, and this nuzzling thing from a male. All was very new to the pale lioness.
She had under a day to figure out these questions. Hopefully her mother wasn’t too busy with the seven cubs to assist her with this new knowledge.

He knew he was being pushy, but his father had told him that he needed to assert himself. Shew ould respect him for that, and understand that he would be her husband. He knew that according to father, if she refused it meant little, as he would have her as his wife, or as his thrall. But he knew that he could never make her his thrall just to keep her. He may be heartbroken to lose her, but he wouldn't do something as sinister as his father had suggested.
"I'd go with you, but I assume it's a conversation that I shouldn't be part of." He smiled, and then he nodded. "Go on love. I'll meet you here tomorrow, and you can let me know what she's said.
"I love you Astrid. I promise I can be good to you." He said, a dopey smile on his face, before he turned to leave her be. He couldn't wait to hear what her mother would say. Surely she would understand it was Astrid's place. But he felt a bit nervous anyway. He cast one more look of adoration towards the female, before lumbering out of sight, intermingling with the large group of lions that were still milling about.
