Welcome! Here I'll be giving away these two pretties! They are members of the Myrsky Syntynyt Pride, where I would like them to stay until they're adols at least (and if you have them leave, just let me know, so Inari knows. :3 But think twice about it, the Stormborn are pretty cool. XP)

Open Date: 3/5/14
Close date: 3/12/14, 7PM EST

Let's establish some general rules:
> Be sure to follow shop rules and pride rules
> Be nice and don't complain if you don't win
> The grey-and-brown boy is open to everyone, where the grey-and-green boy is open only to people who do not own a lion on these lines. (You can have a stormborn, just not on the new lines. Looking to spread the love there.)
> You may enter for both if you fit the above rule, but you can only win one.
> Please be aware of the prides naming rules
> While grammar is important, I will be judging primarily on the cubs' personalities.
> Editing your responses will be allowed until the end time.
> If you need more details, post to ask!
> I can add rules as needed.

About the family:

User Image

Inari, the litter's mother, is a fierce, brash, and brutally honest lioness. She joined to become a reaver, but the change in leadership did not give her a chance. She'll let anyone know how she feels about it, and she keeps herself in shape for the day when she can take her true place. She'll be a "tough love" kind of mom, but the love part will still be there.

This was a "rogue" breeding, the cubs are freeborn and will be raised not ever knowing who their father is. Inari's not the settling type, so don't expect a stepdad unless the cub manages to find one himself. :3

Inari is not traditional-minded: gals should be able to do anything guys can if they're capable. Her cubs will be trained to fight by her personally.

User Image

Dagny will also be blunt and very competitive, but she is a bit more intelligent than her mother. Politics disgust her- you should have nothing that you didn't earn, or properly defend. She appreciates self defense, but prefers to apply her life towards creating, not stealing. (She doesn't mind it from others, but she'll be a home-maker.) As an adult, she'll be crafting edible minty things too ;DD but she's not against a fun competitive tussle now and then! Later in life she may develop a need for reaverdom like her mother- we'll see how that plays out.

User Image
Fun facts: This guy is symmetrical, and the the rune on his shoulders means "the god Tyr." On his forehead, "one of the gods"

Prompt 1:
Your mother pushes you hard to at least be capable of defending yourself- do you think this training time is the best with mom? Or do you dread when she tries to get you to learn how to fight? How do you deal with it? Do you agree with her that the current regime is wrong, or do you think that the lionesses belong at home tending the dens?

Prompt 2:
Your mother just finished explaining about thralls- what are your thoughts on the whole thing?

Prompt 3:
Inari has left for an errand and left you all be. Do you stick with your sibs by the den? Try to convince them to be naughty with you? Leave them in the dust? Tell the story!

Ready or not...
Name: Tollak (Thor's Play)
Prompt #: 3
Response: Sitting with poise upon the large rock he had climbed up to, Tollak watched with dignity as the world below his tiny feet buzzed. In the distance the sapphire sky had melted with a long, endless grey cloud that captivated much of the horizon. Pink swirls of light danced amongst them only to be drowned out by a darkening of the sky even further than the cub's eyes could see. Up here on his perch the wind contained a strikingly cold bitter sting and the fangs of it's howl threatened to pierce the cubs fur as it wildly toss about. "It's a good day to die." He said flatly as the bright spark of lightning lit up the air. His eyes contained the very brilliant spark of yellow within it and he did not mind or even flinch at the earthshaking crackle of thunder.

Looking over his shoulder in mild curiosity he noted his brother and sister were scaling the wall Tollak had already managed to get up upon. "Pff." He rolled his eyes at them. Didn't they know anything? They were suppose to stay in the den and wait until mom came home. He was older than them both so he was not obligated to follow such orders. When mom was gone he was in charge, or at least in his mind Tollak felt such. He didn't hesitate to shove such a way of thinking onto his siblings either, and with an abrupt spin of his small grey body he leaned over slightly to watch as they shoved their little paws into each others faces.

A fear of heights did not set in and he simply continued to stare upon them from the rock he had dominantly made his spot. Ah, he quite liked the sound of that. His spot. Not their spot. Him, not them. The idea of having something separate from his siblings filled Tollak with glee and a smug grin plastered its way on his maw in reflection of this. "Having fun?" He called down to his bickering siblings. "I bet you flower-blooded lilies couldn't climb up here in a million years!" He taunted them, standing to make himself seem more intimidating as he issued the challenge. That'd get them going. Oh yes, it most definitely would! It riled the fighters blood in his veins to know they'd be all the more determined to get their way up here. The excitement did not spot there though for he began to think pleasantly as to if they dared fight him for his seat? His eyes widened and his tail swooshed at the fantasy of it all. His small stormborn claws even seethed in and out of their sheaths as he played out scenarios in his head of success. Bloodlust demanded he leap down and begin clawing at his siblings right in that instant, but he was patient. He'd wait forever if he had to for them to climb the post, only then would he begin to playfully n** at their hides and necks. The monster waiting to be unleashed had yet to be tamed and he laughed darkly as they struggled- although when one of them stuck their tongue out at him he was forced to cringe and pull back his teeth in a low snarl. It was not meant as a threat but as a retort for Tollak did not appreciate not being taken seriously, by his siblings no less! Whatever, he'd forgive them. They were family after all and Tollak wouldn't even dare to think of issuing them real harm. He just wanted to play!

Although they didn't seem to get his message and his ears dropped in disappointment as they wandered back to the den. What, that was it? No play fighting or anything remotely of the sort?! Tollak sighed heavily in acceptance of this fate and with a peek to his left watched as the familiar and reassuring figure of his mother reappeared. Ah, she would approve his desire to quarrel, yes? Not stopping to think if she was busy or not, or even bother to recall he was suppose to be home he called from his spot on the rock, "mother! Mother, it's a good day to die? You should teach us to spar now, like you said you would earlier!" He watched in glee as she noticed him and began marching over with a dissatisfied look on her face. Like mentioned, he was suppose to be home. But even now the thought of being in a cold, dark den had escaped Tollak. Quite a shame he hadn't remembered, for he was about to be reminded of it!

Anything else you would like me to know? if I win I'll be having him stay in the stormborn ^^ and I'm sorry I wrote way more than I should have...

Ready or not...
Name: Gungnir - the spear of Odin
Prompt #: 1
Response: Panting heavily, Gungnir made his way on wobbly legs to a little stream that ran into the ocean. The water towards where river met sea was salty, and when the tide was high it was hard to find fresh water close to the shore, but this far inland the stream was always fresh and cool. He lapped up a few mouthfuls of water eagerly, his little heart beating so hard he was sure it would escape his chest and run away to the sea. He relished the sensation in his limbs and body, though, that burning, aching feel of muscles growing and strengthening. He was young, yes, but it was best to start at an early age to learn the skills that would one day make him a great lion. At least, that was what mother said, and mother was always right.

Lifting his head, he shook himself free of the water he'd splashed onto his fur and laid down in the sun to relax. It had been another grueling session of training, but the little cub enjoyed every bit of it. He was a belligerent little thing, eager to fight and proud when he won. Granted, he fought with bugs and little mice, but one day he'd take on rouges and all sorts of other dangers. He rolled to his back and looked up at the clouds floating by, imaging each one of them to be a different opponent. That one had horns and wings, this one had teeth the size of his legs...but he'd beat them all. Mother was teaching him everything she knew, and she could defeat anyone!

The thought made Gungnir frown just a bit. A few days ago he had overheard a few of the reavers muttering under their breath about his mother, how she was wasting her time and energy in staying in shape. Females couldn't be reavers, they'd said, it was outrageous. Gungnir couldn't see why, though. He knew his mother could take on any male that decided to go up against her, and beat them soundly in a matter of moments. She was his idol, his hero, she could do nothing wrong. That was part of the reason he wanted to learn how to fight. He knew some day she'd grow old and weak, and then it would be his turn to take care of her, to defend her as she defended him and his siblings, to hunt for her and make sure she slept comfortably. He flexed his claws in thought, wondering how big he'd get. Hopefully huge...that way no one would even dream about questioning him or his mom.

Speaking of, his ears twitched as his mother called out for him and his siblings to return. Break time was over. He rolled to his feet and ran back to the spot she'd picked to train them today, an eager grin on his face. He wanted to learn everything she could think of to teach him.
Anything else you would like me to know? Unless some sort of juicy plot rears its head, he'll be staying with the Stormborn! I love them so.

Ready or not...
Name: Liulfr - Norse, "shield wolf"
Prompt #: I kind of mixed 1& 2 together - hope thats ok <3
Response:
He watched lighting split the sky from the mouth of the den. Their mother left not long ago, he struggled. To walk alone and venture, strong-willed, determined, confident? Or stay and wait, hone his skills with his mother, his siblings. Become one of his family, tribe, pack. His yellow eyes glinted in the minimal light and he sneered as the blue-white light shattered the dark night.

Liulfr peered to his sleeping siblings, how they could sleep through the mighty gods play and pounding on the simple world's sky above astounded him. His old soul, it made him revel, his claws dug into the cool dirt beneath him as he struggled to be still as excitement gripped his chest.

His mother, Inari, alpha of their tribe, family, pack, pushed them to be strong. They were young yet, but he could feel the strain in his forelegs bringing promise. As another shot lit the sky, it appeared to smile down upon him, reveal the markings upon his foreleg - the god Yngvi, touched, no, blessed by a god who had bestowed peace (and pleasure, though the adult who told him the symbols namesake happened to not mention that at such a young, ripe age) on mortals.

He, Liulfr, the shield wolf, he would grow strong, protect his people.

He would wear his strength and cunning, be like the mighty creatures at Odin's side.

A crackle of lighting raised his golden eyes to the skies, and a raven flew, lonely, above, hovering, waiting for the wind.

Yes, he thought.

He would become Ulfheabar, wolf-skinned, and rise wih the wind of glory from the storms, just like many others before him.

He would make his mother proud.

Anything else you would like me to know? I'd target to have him stay in the stormborn, and he would want to achieve greatness. He has the eyes of a wolf, so I apologize if I went a bit overboard with the use of that imagery (couldn't help it where I spend time with the wolfies <3)

… Here I come!
Name: Hœnir (meaning unknown, but it possibly means 'strong; helper')
Prompt #: 1
Response:
He was more than aware that their mother was a bit more fierce when it came to making sure her cubs were strong and knew how to fight. This excited him down to his very core and he was more than ready for their sparring sessions. Learning how to fight and defend himself and his family was one thing he was most set on learning. He wanted to be the very best and didn't want anyone to be able to oppose him when he grew into an adult. Silver eyes sparkled at the thought of his next session with mother and he didn't understand why the new regime was so set on making sure females weren't reavers.

He took a moment to ponder all that he had learned about the new regime versus the old one and what changes had occured. He was aware that his mother had joined to become a reaver but was denied that right, despite her more than exceptional capabilites. With a frown he looked at the dark skys and deep down he wanted to take his mothers side but pehaps it was better that the females stayed back. His mother could take on some of the best males so he didn't disagree with her going. He really wasn't sure how he felt on the matter. Perhaps it was because he was still too young to understand the whole picture.

Still. If she wanted to be one, why couldn't there be a test so she could prove herself and then allow her to go. Though, she was handy with making sure they were well off and taken care of. They didn't have a father and he wasn't sure if they had one if he'd be very good at making sure they were trained as well as they were. Most males were lazy at times and females were very proactive. This was something he had picked up on at times by watching the daily lives of those around them. He vowed that no matter what happened he would be proactive and fight to be the best and make sure when he had cubs that they had the best training they could get.

His mother worked hard to make sure they were tough and not weak. He enjoyed this very much, for the thought of others quivering beneath his awesomness was something he looked forward too. He wanted to be strong and cunning, yet wise and a figure worth looking up to. He wanted to live up to the markings upon him, he would be a god or at least have the might and strength of a god behind his very paws. One day he would. A sly grin formed upon his maw and he decided he had enough thinking and went to track down his siblings so he could have a little one on one.
You own no lined pridemembers? Correct
Anything else you would like me to know? <3 I adore these lines. He will be staying with the stormborn unless he gets pulled away as an adult due to some plot or what not XD

Ready or not...
Name: Bjorn (Swedish name meaning "Bear")
Prompt #: 1
Response: Bjorn had some time to himself today, something he reveled in. At least... Now and then he did. While he enjoyed being alone with his thoughts sometimes, a chance to unwind away from everybody else, he was thrilled to be in the thick of a group, doing... SOMETHING. Anything. He was taking this time alone to imagine one such situation... He was with his brother and sister and mother, in the middle of a group of Reavers, charging in for attack against an enemy. It was a lion... With two heads! And it was as tall as a tree!

The cub smiled to himself, amused at such a creature. Nothing like that could exist, of course. He knew that. But sometimes it was just fun to imagine. The part he didn't WANT to imagine, though, was his mother and sister being there. It wasn't that he didn't want them to BE there. He did. It was just that... Things had to change, first.

He crossed his paws, lifting his head and looking toward some passing lions. As a cub, he was ignored by them, not currently worth their attention. He'd make them pay attention one day... He'd be the best fighter, a Captain. Not a Reaver, but a Captain. And when he was a captain... He'd tell everybody that he was so skilled because his MOTHER had taught him. After all... A strong-willed mother made for strong cubs, male OR female. Yes... They'd see.
Anything else you would like me to know? You know, they look a bit like Kisulisuli

… Here I come!
Name: Varg (Norwegian name meaning "Wolf")
Prompt #: 2, with just a bit of a hint of 3
Response: Varg watched his mother leave to run an errand, her words about Thralls sinking in. His ears had fallen, eyebrows up and a frown on his face. He glanced toward some distant and unknown point, 'over yonder' as he'd heard somebody call it at some point. While his brother and sister went to play in the den, Varg found a spot to sit down, a bit by himself.

Lions who had no freedom of their own was... Sad to him. Why did it have to be like that, anyway? Why did they have to enslave their own kind? Because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time? The cub played with a rock, a frown on his face. As Varge sent it rolling along, he decided.. As much as he didn't like fighting, he wanted to be Warlord one day, so he could change how lions, at least, were treated. He'd free all the lion Thralls and make them Freeborn! That's what he would do! He toyed with another rock. First he'd have to be able to fight well enough...
You own no lined pridemembers? I do not, actually surprised
Anything else you would like me to know? No, seriously, they make me think of Suli xD Also, if I land a breeding between now and contest end, you can... Remove my entry from the list xD

… Here I come!
Name: Frey (means lord in nordic)
Prompt #: 2
Response:

He wasn't sure how to absorb all this information. Thralls. And he was guessing everyone's idea of a thrall would be different from one another. He supposed everyone would treat them differently too. He didn't know if he'd seen one yet; though he guessed he had as his mom told him there no physical differences usually; unless they were a hybrid (what ever that really meant).

He was sitting quietly as over the pride; the clouds were growing dark and grey. A storm no doubt.

He sighed, casting a glace off into the distance and staring absently at some other lions not far from him. He wondered if they were thralls at all. Word was some folks were stricter and meaner to their thralls; so he guessed those thralls would look a lot sadder and perhaps worn. And there were some who treated their thralls kindly; and he supposed there would be very little difference. He sighed; as even in his thoughts he was still not fully understanding everything.

Perhaps he'd simply ask again; for his mother to explain it all one more time. He sighed; standing up as a low rumbled shook the ground. The storm was coming faster than he expected! Time to head back to mom.

… Here I come!
Name: Ohtherr ("Terror warrior", Norwegian)
Prompt #: 2
Response:
The young lion snarled and paced along a line in the dirt that was starting to form. He looked angry, but really he was just thinking. Ohtherr wasn't one to sit quietly with his own thoughts, he had to move, keep his blood pumping, otherwise he couldn't concentrate. Hearing his own footfalls helped too, they were consistent, rhythmic, like the beating of his heart.

After hearing his mother explain what Thralls were and what their place was within the pride he had come here to his usual thinking spot, where he wouldn't be bothered. The adults seemed to understand that he needed some time alone when he was here, and any other cubs who had interrupted him in the past knew that he would snap at them for doing so. Ohtherr wasn't a "peaceful" lion, but this was as close as he got, so long as he was left alone with his line in the dirt.

"Lion Thralls. Doesn't make sense." He growled under his breath. He was fine with anyone else being kept as one, after all they weren't on the same level as him and his pride, but their own kind? He shook his head, "Why keep something so strong as a lion from contributing more to the pride?" He turned as he reached the end of his walk and started in the other direction, as he had so many times already. He quickened his steps and turned again at the other end. Walk, turn, walk turn.

Wait a second.

His lips curled into a smile and he slowed back down again, his gait and posture growing more relaxed. "But why would I want one of those non-lion Thralls anyway? Any Thrall of mine should be the strongest kind. And besides," He broke step and took a short leap to the end of his path before turning, elated at the conclusion he had found, "If they aren't strong enough to challenge out of their station, they deserve to stay Thralls until they can." He nodded sharply, "When I grow up and become a Reaver, all of my Thralls will be lions, only the best for me."

You own no lined pridemembers? Not-a-one
Anything else you would like me to know? I have a boy in the mermaid pride who could be captured after being kicked out, I think it would be fun for him to become this boy's first Thrall if I got him. Even if I don't, I'd love to have a similar plot play out with some other Reaver.

Ready or not...
Name: Ingve (Variant form of "Yngvi" in Norwegian)
Prompt #: 1
Response: More! More training! She wasn't giving him enough! The lightning-eyed cub snarled angrily in retort to his mother saying that their lesson had ended. Why was she so weak? She always wanted to stop and take a break. It was always like this. When she would approach him for more training, to learn how to be a Stormborn warrior, he always eagerly jumped at the chance. Always! It seemed like such a short session though when she finally had had enough and was calling it quits.

Growling and slashing at the ground with his brown claws, the cub was anxious to know why. Why was she so... Weak? Yes, she was his mother and yes she was teaching him how to be a grand warrior in the first place, but it wasn't good enough. He wanted more! She had preached to him during their training about how the current regime was all crap and it was unfair and blah, blah, blah. As he saw it, if a female was as weak and... Dare he even think pathetic, as his mother, then they should never even step a paw outside of their den. They were nothing more than den and cub keepers. Sure, if a female felt like proving herself and could contend with the mighty males of the pride, then let her contend! After she had had her fun though, she should be thrown right back into her den where she belonged.

Growling and muttering to himself about how unfair everything was, the cub finally retired himself for the day, knowing that his griping would get him nowhere with his mother. "Stupid mom... She doesn't even see the flowers in her blood or them growing within her own coat!"
Anything else you would like me to know? This cub I forsee as kind of being snotty and a bully to his siblings. He believes he's 'superior' to them, seeing as how his general appearance is different. He'll even be a brat to his mother at some points. He won't ever be leaving the Stormborn pride.

- - - - - -

… Here I come!
Name: Jarnskogr ("Iron forest" in Old Norse)
Prompt #: 2
Response: The silver-pelted cub twitched his dark green, tipped tail. His grey-blue eyes swished around from left to right, the obvious gears turning in his head; expressions of processing adorning his face. Could what his mother of said been true? Of course it had to be true! She wouldn't lie to him. She was his mother! As his mother, he had the utmost respect for her. It would be disrespectful not to.

Thralls... The lowest of the low. Servants to the almighty Stormborn lions. Practically slaves, as most outlanders would see it. To have a creature to do your every whim... Or at least the ones you didn't want to do yourself... Was... Incredible. 'Thrall, fetch me a meal!' 'Thrall, I want to play with your tail!' 'Thrall, dance for me!' Yes... He liked the idea of these Thralls. A smile curled upon his white maw, sharp little teeth hanging out over his bottom lip. He looked up to his mother, the glorious creature that she was.

"Some day Mother, I will have a Thrall of my very own. I will capture one for you as well! We will live proudly with these Thralls serving us and our family, for we are Stormborn."
You own no lined pridemembers? Nope
Anything else you would like me to know? He wouldn't be leaving the pride what so ever. He has too much pride and interest in being a Stormborn. He's a much more gentle soul than your average Stormborn, but has his devilish and pride-rearing side as well. His pride means everything to him.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 07, 2014 3:23 pm

… Here I come!
Name: Úlfheðinn ( " Wolf fur/pelt " OW. Norse )
Prompt #: 2
Response: Úlfheðinn was meandering around, simultaneously paying attention to his rocky surroundings and drowning in the thoughts in his mind. It had been several hours after his mother had explained the Thrall system to the young platinum pelted cub. She had promptly left him afterwards, having other business to attend to, which didn't bother Úlfheðinn at all. Mother had her place in the Pride, to help keep everything running, and from what the youth could grasp, he understood that concept. ..More or less. However, he didn't really see the purpose in having slaves, let alone ones that were far skinnier than any lion. Or ones that varied wildly, simply depending on their heritage. Hybrids were as strange as they were interesting, but he could see little else of use other than amusement. As Mother had explained it, any animal; Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, or Hybrid, could be taken as a Thrall during a Raid. Though, what creature could be captured at any given location was left up to the Gods to choose. Úlfheðinn was fairly certain that the Gods had far more important things to be worrying about instead.

He could understand that the purpose of these slaves was to fill ' gaps '. Essentially, do chores that were deemed not fit for any other Stormborn to do. A snarl momentarily wrinkled the bridge of his nose, daring to pull up his white lips, and narrow his silvery eyes. there was an understanding of the way things were, the way things were simply done in this Pride and yet.. there was a spark of confusion. Which soon beget to neutrality. Whilst the ashen cub was not yet one to mumble to himself, his mind had come to an agreement.

He knew this was the way things worked, and there was no changing that. However, he could not understand why a lion, a glorious member of the Stormborn could ever allow themselves to become so lax. There was nothing good that could come from letting a Thrall do work for you. If there is a task set before you, do it yourself, even if you don't want to.
You own no lined pridemembers? None.
Anything else you would like me to know? He's likely never going to leave the Stormborn, unless, I guess, because of some groundbreaking Meta or some sort of Plotting. In either option, I'd let owners of the parents know. It's the polite thing to do. In the forseeable future, I don't think he'll be leaving. Also, in regards to Thralldom; he'll be fairly neutral about the whole system. Maybe leaning a little towards seeing it as useless. I would like to have him keep this stance, until something happens in his live that tips him fully to either liking the idea of Thralls, or not.
