Hot. Humid. Dry.

Lokesh licked his parched lips in an attempt to wetten them. Unfortunately, it did very little good in his condition. He let out a long drawn out sigh, staring at the sand beneath his paws. Who knew that there wouldn’t be a watering hole around for ages? He sure didn’t. But then again, he also didn’t imagine these desert lands to be expansive.

Yet he was still stuck here of all places. Utterly alone. So he continued forwards, his paws heavily fumbling on.

Now, Lokesh wasn’t one to usually see things that weren’t there. Hallucinations and mirages; they called them. He had never experienced one. Nor was he very keen on having one. However; right now, he figured that he was hallucinating. Because why, in heaven’s name, would he find small watering hole here of all places?

Even if it was just a trick of the mind, the dehydrated lion stumbled forward, towards his goal, or what he hoped was his goal, his gaze deadest on the small pool of water. Which was why he didn’t see the other lion that he staggered into, and; caught by surprise, faltered a few steps to the side and stared at the other, dumbstruck.

“Sorry about that,” he mumbled, coming out as more of a hoarse whisper. Teal eyes abashedly looked up from the sand and stared at the lioness, before drifting back to the water. Not to be rude, but he would have enjoyed the drink. But still, here he sat.

User Image Ha'deh was in the area of her home still. She thought that her siblings would accompany her but she needed to give them time to think. The desert was their home, the temples were there home. This... this couldn't be it for her. The adventure was just beginning! .... She treaded along- looking at the vast nothingness of sand. They were acustomed to the long waits for water, and she had in the roguelands still carried the tradition so her tolerance, like her mother said could keep if she visited.

Today, was one of those days that her mother's advice came handy. Continuing out just thinking and humming to herself til she heard a voice. Her ears propped up and she turned around. No one. Hm. She knew it wasn't a mirage's doing.. She was fine. So..... the lioness went off to look for the source and finally stopped a few away. Poking her head over the hill and witnessed a lion, and dreadfully inside a mirage.. A smile- then she tried to contain her giggling by covering her maw. She knew this wasn't funny- BUT SHE ALWAYS thought how animals would react to one was funny. He apparently 'ran in to something'- then started talking to it then started lapping at the dry...dry.. sand.

Her eyes widened. "NO!" Deadly thing about mirages.. the intake of sand, and that could dehydrate a lion to it's death bed.

Ha'deh quickly jumped and pulled herself over the hill and ran to him. "Stop! HEAL! HAULT!" She screamed at him. Then finally she grabbed on to his face to stop 'drinking the water'- /sand/.

"THE WATER IS NOT REAL.. THE WATER IS NOT. R.E.A.L." Her ears went back.. Starring at his eyes hopefully trying to get him to snap back to reality.. Her golden orbs would have loved to make fun of him more- but... she didn't want to see a lion die. NEVER that.. Then she pulled at his maw and started racking out some of the sand... Determined in it to- not caring if she scratched him or not- just as long as she could restrict that intake to not clog everything.

Then stopped. Realized what she was doing before looking up at with with big bubbly eyes.. Hopefully he wasn't the aggressive type... Heh. A slight twitch of her lip moved to crack of nervousness.

There wasn’t a point in time thus far that Lokesh didn’t believe that this was not real. Of course, he wasn’t sure that he had felt the soft pelt of the tawny and white lioness before him, however; he was barely paying attention to her. Rather, the dazzling water, practically sparkling in the summer heat, was calling to him, drawing his gaze away from the female before him. How rude. But he was just so thirsty. And having to use his voice was only making it that much worse.

”Do you mind if I---?” he choked out, voice raspy from how dry and sore his throat was. It was terribly painful to talk, making him chuck his chin into his fluffy mane as if that would be a perfect balm for his aching throat. Unfortunately not. All that did was make the sun’s powerful rays more powerful upon his body, beating him down as the sand tried to drag him into their grainy depths, it seemed. So, not even sparing the female another glance, he wandered over the stretch of land towards the pool of seemingly cool water.

As he lapped up the water in long languid licks, he was positive that the lass would understand his dire need. They all had it, after all. Survival was impossible without it. He had heard countless tales about death from starvation and thirst, ever since he was a cub. It was a known fact, most likely. Especially around these parts. Why, this was the only watering hole that he had found in quite some time. Another walking around in this area would surely know the pain.

Unfortunately, the water that he was drinking didn’t seem to be helping at all. Actually, it was only giving rise to more difficulty than anything. Why was it so hard to swallow? And just what was that muffled sound?

Scrunching his furry brows quizzically, Lokesh glanced up to find nothing except this water. The lioness was nowhere in sight. Which was odd, considering that he felt a pull on his face, as if another was grabbing it. The voice was coming more clearer, the touch more firmer, and as the lion began to regain his senses, he noticed with sharpening acuity that he was indeed not alone.

Lokesh attempted to speak through a mouthful of paw, but unfortunately, it only came out as a mumble. He pushed gently back on the lion, attempting to regain a bit of his self back so he could properly take care of any pesky grains of sand left within his mouth. ”Thank you for the help..But--Could you let go---please?” he asked, shifting uncomfortably. The feeling of having another lion’s paw in his mouth was quite unbecoming.

User Image Wasn't that a sight. Walking right passed her- she hadn't seen that in a while. Maybe she had almost forgotten what it was like since she traveled so many more places with plenty of water to go around, but she always remembered her sandy home's spring locations. The oasis- but to see someone lose their minds? She hadn't seen it in a while.

She found herself on top of him and wracking the sand out of his maw- and before long he came to his realization... but she didn't know. "NO. NO. BAD. SAND BAD." As if he were from a new planet. Maybe he didn't understand.. and finally until he spoke..muffled of course, she finally let go. "Ah.. sorry." Slowly she retorted her maw back- but quickly let her paws opened his maw to check if there were more sand. Then pulled herself back again.

Moving her paw from one side to the next- to make sure he was conscious. "Quickly - How many digits am I holding up?" Holding up two. Which showed her birthmark.. Under her paw. Which was the only way to tell the twins apart. "You know you could've died. Stupid." Shaking her head and dusting herself off then leaning over to him to brush his face off. "You want water..? You looked mighty thirsty just now." An impish sarcasm.

"Not from around here- If you don't die or eat more sand I'll show you the way to some REAL~ water." Looking at him with that sweet innocent glare, but couldn't help but giggle at him now that the danger was over..for now.

Dumbly, Lokesh watched the water escape and flee from whence it came. What was it doing? How was that even possible? "I need you." he croaked, head pushing against the invisible force that held his mouth open. But his thirst wasn't quenched. As soon as the water hit his tongue it was grainy. Like sand, almost. Which was strange. This was a watering hole, was it not?

He closed his eyes for a tinse, trying to regain focus. Something wasn't right. Sand bad? Whatever could that mean? Reluctantly, he opened his eyes. They widened in surprise when they saw another female there. How peculiar. And the water that he was drinking----Lokesh's gaze fell on the desert floor. Sand. No wonder it tasted grimy.

"It's okay. I-uh---Thank you?" he muttered, muffled as her paws went to inspect his mouth once again. Was that necessary? Just what was she doing. checking his teeth?

Quizzically, he watched her paw go back and forth, his vision blurring as she moved too quickly. Did she actually have thee front paws? He couldn't tell. Lokesh blinked owlishly a few more times, doing as he was told. It was just so hard to think, to even focus on her paws. "Four?" he guessed after a moments pause, thinking hard. what was with him today? He couldn't even be positive about counting her paws. That was cub's play. "I'm not sure."

Lokesh relaxed as she went to brush his face off, at ease with the motion. It was making him drowsy, in fact. But he couldn't sleep. Not now. He needed water. And apparently she knew just where to go. "I am. Hard to talk." he nodded, motioning to his dry throat. The sand probably didn't help him any.

"I won't." he replied, smiling gratefully as he shakily got up on all fours. The broad lion swayed on his feet for a beat, before glancing at the female in front of him. "Lead the way?" he asked, hopeful that she would do that instead of leaving him with just directions. He was afraid that he didn't know his way around, and it was always a benefit to have such nice company.
