In a kind of abstract way he knew the vikings had a rival in the pirates. There had been plenty of talk and boasting at night since he'd arrived of encounters with pirates. But in all the time he'd been here, Bousvor had never gone out against them. It had never occurred to him that was something he could do until an older reaver asked him to join a viking run on pirate territory.

The tawny male had taken a moment to consider it. This would be a good chance to gather intelligence on the pirates should the two prides ever clash. That and whatever the vikings could get away with snitching. He wouldn't say no to some nice treasure to bring home either. His recent issues with a thrall made him reluctant to bring another one back. Finally he'd agreed and arranged when to meet the reaver's party.

Bousvor trotted up on the appointed day in the appointed spot. A glance around told him that Mahewa hadn't arrived yet. He settled himself in to wait and think about their mission today.

Mahewa had nothing against pirates, really. In another life he might even have become one of them! It'd been luck (or fate, take it as you would) that prompted him to join the Stormborn when the wandering old rogue heard about them. He'd only really ever cared for strength and glory, and perhaps if the pirates had approached him first he would have taken their side.

Of course, they hadn't and now he was out to track them down and take whatever they might have that he found himself wanting. It was nothing personal - he had no reason to dislike them but the pride's rules, after all. It was boredom that had made him approach the younger reaver for this mission. Boredom and a want for more trinkets, fame, and maybe if things got bloody a new pelt and more scars for the ladies to coo over.

He came rambling up to meet the youngster - not really a youngster, but next to the graying old brute he certainly seemed one - and grinned toothily. "Think we'll find much sport today?"

Bousvor was please when the older lion showed up. He bobbed his head in quite greeting. "Cannot say. Never been after pirates." There was no way he could predict what was going to happen. Undoubtedly any pirates who found them would react badly to their presence there which would result in a skirmish if not a full fight. He hoped the old lion was up to a fight or fleeing if it came to that.

"Looking for something specific?" He was curious why the lion wanted to go after pirates. There was a wide land out there, so targeting one group without a real reason put a limitation on the outcome. Bousvor rose to his feet and gestured for Mahewa to take the lead. He only had a vague idea where to find pirates.

Mahewa threw his head back and laughed as he led the other reaver out. There were only two of them but that was about right for an on-the-secret-side raid. "No! Not at all! Well, I mean, I've nothing personal against them. I respect the urge to live comfortably, take what they think is theirs, have a good time...but if they can't hold on to what they've taken then they don't deserve it. And a pirate, I hear, will cut and run before facing real danger. That makes them unworthy, even if they would otherwise be almost just like us," He commented as they slowly but surely ate up ground between the two rival prides.

"Not to mention, pirates are supposed to have caves just full of treasures. Pelts and the fruit things they claim are more heady than our own herbs. Shiny things too, and things from the sea." Who wouldn't want to take such a bounty? The females would flock to them, and the other males would praise and honor them. If they could get their paws on any. "And besides, it's been a while since we heard anything of them. It is important to know if perhaps they are planning something against us, hmm? Not that they'd succeed. We would crush them!"

Do you want to roll and see if they come across any pirates or loot? XD

The large male fell in at Mahewe's flank. Easy conversation distance. He kept pace with the older male. Bousvor smiled as his companion for this trip went into his logic for picking the pirates for their excursion. He could see how the cut-n-run style of the pirates would rub the vikings the wrong way. So there was a reason behind it.

He nodded slowly and considered what all a pirate might have. If even half the rumors were true they could come out of this very well off. "Should we try their fruit? Maybe that is why they always run." His deep voice rumbled with amusement. "Or they say that because they have not tried ours." Not that the chance of that was very likely to happen given the way both prides would rather steal loot from the other.

Bousvor nodded. It was good to know of the enemies plans before they went into effect. "We will gather information and hopefully some prizes to take back." With any luck he might find a trinket to sooth his new annoying thrall.

Sounds like a plan to me. 1 for nothing, 2 for a cave with loot, 3 for actual pirates? That cool?

They jogged on a while, occasionally creeping low or climbing high as the terrain called for it. the pirates lived not so far away - long enough that they stopped at least once to rest, but not long enough to make a real epic of the journey. At one point they startled a few hares from the tall grass and made a meal of it, continuing their banter even as they ate. Mahewa found himself becoming rather fond of the younger lion - they had a fair amount in common, at least as far as their dispositions seemed to go.

Eventually the tall grass again became a jungle, and their chatter died down to a quiet murmur as both pressed to their bellies, content to slink along now that they were nearing enemy territory. Through only a few more hundred yards or so of lush trees would be a gentle beach...And ideally, pirates. Or maybe loot. Or fruits. Anything would be good - just something to make their journey worth the effort.

Sounds good here!

This was a good workout. It used so many different movements that one didn't normally get just strolling. He aught to recommend this to the youngsters with too much energy. Bousvor focused on moving silently though the terrain. It was a pleasure to go viking with an experienced reaver. Younglings tended to be exuberant.

He senses became more alert. They were the only vikings in the area. If they encountered trouble there was only themselves to bail them out. He would rather avoid a situation he couldn't win. His eyes scanned around but all seemed quiet. Too quite? He couldn't tell as it was his first time in this area.
