- Must have completed 1 horsemen task from the NEW given tasks x
- Must have interacted with at least one Halloween citizen or Hunter x
- Must have over 25 RP points x

Scavengers must be versed in all forms of knowledge and intuition. They are brought forth to the great sand dunes in the Famine quarters and asked to find 10 rare treasures in two minutes.

Time: If your time reaches zero it is GAME OVER.

Your horsemen starts at 120 seconds. Their goal is to get ten treasures before 0 seconds hits.

Roll 1d10. Every time you roll a dice, subtract 5 seconds from your tally. Match your dice roll to the events below.

    Rolling 1-2: You find an interesting treasure involving some very naughty relationships but it is not what you are looking for.
    Rolling 3: You find a treasure!
    Rolling 4: You find a treasure!
    Rolling 5: You find a great hidden book that whispers to you and promises power, but it is really not what you are looking for in this context.
    Rolling a 6: A giant axe lands and neatly beheads you causing you to drop ALL your treasure!
    Rolling a 7: You find a treasure!
    Rolling a 8: You find a treasure!
    Rolling a 9: You manage to find a piece of treasure that is just buried too deep in the sand. You waste time trying to dig for it. -10 seconds.
    Rolling 10: You find 2 treasures!

GOAL: Find 10 treasures before time runs out!

UPON COMPLETION: You have done it! Your horseman gains the SCAVENGER PASSIVE ABILITY.

Your horseman may summon a mount-sized insect to do their bidding. They can also give others one as well, up to two other horsemen, but others cannot use them in battle.

In battle, you may summon that insect into battle. Roll an extra 1d6 once per battle as additional damage you do to your opponent.

Out of all of the emotions Mmur had ever expected Medea to make him feel, insulted had been fairly low on the list. Yet here he was, mildly miffed at the priestess for having the gall to make them undergo vague new challenges designed to determine whether or not they were fit to continue being what they were. He had always been a soldier. He would always be a soldier. Just because they had a new tower and a new crystal and new tattoos didn't mean he had to prove himself anew as well.

He had planned on refusing outright if taking the test had been demanded of him, or at the very least, fail to respond if it was not. After all, he wasn't going to be around here forever, so his place in this hive hardly mattered anymore. He told himself that over and over, and each time he said it, he responded with the same uncontrolled fear. Who was he without the clans? When all was said and done, he ended up deciding to go through with it anyway, secretly uncomfortable without a proper title. Plus, he was bored. With all of the other horsemen still acclimating to their new home, no one was really in need of protection. There was nothing for Mmur to do except spar, which might have been good practice in theory, but was generally quite boring, especially when there was no one to do it with.

After asking around, he learned that the test was administered when requested, as were the alchemist and scavenger exams. At first, he bristled at the thought of just anyone walking in and adding to the scavengers' poisonous ranks, but the more he thought on it, the more he was amused by it. Not by the idea of more serious scavengers, but by the thought of his own easy infiltration. Under this new system, even he could become a scavenger. It would be easy to dismantle them from the inside out.

He had made his choice. Heading toward the practice fields, Mmur turned and strode toward the dunes instead. With an expression hardened by steely determination, albeit for all the wrong reasons, he requested the scavenger exam in a voice that didn't waver or crack.

Operation: Scavenger Spy Step One complete.

Considering his lack of clothing with pockets, the soldier was handed a worn, sand-hued satchel and told to gather ten treasures in two minutes. He could only assume there were hazards and traps in the sand, but, truth be told, this test didn't seem all that hard, an assumption that proved to be true when he almost tripped over half of a golden goblet nestled right past the entrance. He held it up, shooting a questioning glance at the old mare who had given him the bag.

She nodded. "Yes, dear. Just like that."

Mmur ventured farther across the dunes, enjoying the sun on his skin and the sand between his toes. The seconds ticked by and he forgot he was supposed to be looking for anything, at least until he nearly tripped over another item, this one much longer and springier than the chalice. He pulled it out of the sand, eyes widening as it wobbled in his hand. Was this...?

Yes, it was.

Oh, my.

Well, he supposed it was a treasure to some. Mmur slipped it into his bag.

He kept his head low as he continued his search. Had he not been aware of what these treasures represented, Mmur would have found this test of skill quite enjoyable, but every time his fingers brushed past a hidden bit of rubble in the sand, he thought of Duman's thin wails and lifeless arm, all sacrificed in the name of the clans' all-consuming hunger. Keep on gathering. There was plenty of FEAR to be had without squeezing children to mulch. He looked forward to the day he possessed the courage to show his people as much.

Mmur recognized the next treasure before he'd even touched it: a small, pale figurine, carved from what appeared to be saber-tooth tusk. He pocketed it with a smirk of satisfaction.

Moving on quickly, the soldier-turned-scavenger pawed through the sand surrounding what looked like a small bit of silver, unearthing a rather large, rather ornate helmet. As it was too big to fit in his bag, Mmur shoved it on his head instead, frowning slightly at its weight. There was a reason why he'd always favored the half helm.

Mmur tried to remain speedy with the helmet perched on his head, but he soon found he could not. Was it against the rules to have his loot leave his person during the test? He honestly didn't see how that could matter, but still he hesitated, pondering breaking a rule that probably didn't even exist. Half a minute he couldn't spare later, he decided the rules could burn themselves. He chose a very visible spot on a nearby rock and deposited his treasure bag there, propping the helmet on top of the pile.

There!

Mmur caught another glint of silver out of the corner of his eye as he jogged away from the rock, but when he began to dig, all he found was a pair of handcuffs, their fuzzy bits clogged with sand. Again, he thought this item might be treasured by someone, but he doubted it was what he was looking for.

Why were there all of these... sex toys... in the sand here? Mmur didn't object really, he had just never been one to mix business with pleasure like these scavengers seemed keen to. If this was the qualifying exam to gain entrance into their ranks, he couldn't help but wonder how they were expected to perform their duties. Were humans frightened of horseman orgies? Mmur stifled a giggle with his hand. Yes. He had obviously been wrong to badmouth their practices for so long. All they wanted to do was...

He was jolted from his musings as his toes tapped another treasure and he liberated it from the sand.

Another handful of careful steps later, Mmur put his foot down on a patch of sand that promptly slipped out from under his feet, revealing the smooth cover of a magazine.

...

Hornz?

What was...?

He fished it out of the sand and opened its cover, flushing faintly at the images within. Scavengers! Really!

Peeking around to make sure no one was watching, Mmur held onto the magazine and moved on. Research. It was all for research.

He quickly scooped up another golden treasure—this one an ornate mask—and stacked it on top of the copy of Hornz he had balanced in the crook of his arm, effectively hiding it from view.

Time was running out. Mmur began combing through the sand in earnest now, finding his bag again by chance and dropping his new spoils inside. Otherwise, his search was largely futile. For a while now he had remained in the same spot, and that spot was thoroughly picked clean of... no wait... there was one more d***o. Now it was picked clean.

He jogged over to a new, pristine patch of land, the bag slung over his shoulder rattling with precious items. Just a few more... there! Mmur dug his fingers into the scorching sand and came up with not one, but two treasures linked together by their gem-encrusted handles.

And anoth... no. This large, silver basin was clearly something Mmur was meant to grab, but try as he might, he couldn't pull it from the sand. He spent far too long trying to liberate the thing before giving up and moving on, growling low under his breath.
