King Shangyue has decided it is time to make some changes in the way that the Mwezi'Johari has run. It has been many generations since the pride was so big, taking care of such a population is a greater task than the current number of priests and leaders can handle-- and so, changes are coming. And nearly every single rank is affected by this!
Demotions
All demotions are the result of OOC player inactivity, the excuses provided are simply the justifications that Shangyue would give when asked-- whether or not your characters believe his reasons is entirely up to you.
All demoted lions will default to Lords and Ladies, even in the Upper-middle Class.
Stellaluna (Shaman) - Shangyue claims she is not fit to handle the major responsibility that comes with being the spiritual leader of the pride. When the Mwezi'Johari needed her, she hid- afraid to speak for herself, unable to stand up for the pride (never minding that this would be standing up to Shangyue).
Kibetinyota (Nurse Priest) - Married to the only openly rebellious pride member, who is taken as a serious enough threat to be under general surveillance, Kibetinyota can no longer be trusted as a priest.
Utunzo (Historian Priest) - A priest who refuses to support the king, Shangyue believes he can't be trusted, even in the relatively simple job of keeping records for the pride.
Ptolemy (Host Apprentice) - Refusing to play favorites even in his own family, Shangyue believes that his uncle has become lazy and entitled- and why not? He didn't technically apply for the job, there were just no other volunteers and so it was given to him.
Promotions
Lailah K'chol (Shaman) - Considered by Shangyue to be more trustworthy and better suited to the responsibility of a Shaman, Lailah K'chol has been promoted. She has proven herself to be smart and resourceful and so the king is confident it is in the best interest of the whole pride to kick off his round of changes by giving her the opportunity to lead.
New Ranks
And now.. for the changes Shangyue plans to make!
Nurses, Midwives, Historians - In a pride so large, it only makes sense that there might be a greater need for several common service positions. There should always have been more than one nurse watching over lions that may sleep for weeks, midwives should always be accessible and can you ever really have too many historians?
Apprentices!! - Apprentices for the Shaman and Host Priest are going to take on a different role. While in the past they have always been a single individual who would eventually replace their mentor, now there will be multiple and their jobs will be to assist their mentors in their work in addition to learning from them. This will also provide multiple options when the time comes to choose a successor (offering some security the Shaman position sorely needs) and no single apprentice is guaranteed that promotion when the time comes.
Hunt & Patrol Leaders - Second in command to the Head Huntress and Head Guard respectively, they are given smaller groups of hunters/guards to organize and lead. They report directly to their Head, who helps them coordinate with other groups and handle any issues that may come up.
Slave Mother & Slave Father - A new rank created specifically to offer the low class two things they have never really had- a leader and a voice. The titles are purposefully made like family, encouraging respect and authority but not in any way that might offend the Great Lion (or cause trouble for the higher classes). The Slave Mother & Father help to keep the slaves organized and speak for them, as a group or individually when necessary. They should be a married couple.
Notes:
- The Shaman Apprentices will be chosen from any future high class female cubs born into the pride, not as part of any application process. Unless your high class litter is born to a known rebel, there is a reasonable chance it will be mentioned when you get your cubs rolled.
- The ranks of Slave Mother & Father are being given to Nerit and Unyezi respectively. They are an established couple in the low class and Unyezi, as a former king, already has a tendency to act as a sort of leader to the low class. Really, they are the only obvious choice for this rank -- I try hard not to take special ranks, but in this case there is simply no good reason ICly to pass them over.

.:: Open Applications ::.
Only existing members of the Mwezi'Johari may apply for these ranks, they will not be given to anybody applying to the pride specifically to apply for them.
Unfortunately, IC situation matters. If your lion is a close family member (parent/sibling/child) of one of the notable pride members, particularly the rebels, they may have trouble being selected.
On that note, however, the Head Huntress and Head Guard have a say in the Leaders selected and they may be looking for rebels to take those ranks. So you never know who may vouch for you!
*
Priest - Historian - 2/4 filled.
An existing type of priest, looking to increase numbers to lessen the load on the current Historians. Hopefully this will make it easier to keep track of the pride's present while reducing the risk of losing track of its past. You really can't have too many scholars, after all!
Requirements
Any age, cub to adult, considered. Cubs would start as apprentices. Upper-middle Class or higher No gender restriction
*
Priest - Midwife - 0/2 filled.
A existing type of priest, looking to increase numbers to lessen the load on the current midwives and make it easier for expecting lions to find a midwife when they need one.
Requirements
Any age, cub to adult, considered. Cubs would start as apprentices. Upper-middle Class or higher Female only
*
Priest - Nurse - 1/2 filled.
An existing type of priest, looking to replace the current Nurse and increase the number available to make the job less demanding. Though few rogues join at a time, tending to new members for weeks at a time can be a bit much.
Requirements
Any age, cub to adult, considered. Cubs would start as apprentices. Upper-middle Class or higher No gender restriction
*
Priest Apprentice- Host - 1/3 filled.
Apprentice to an existing type of priest, the goal is not just to find someone who will ultimately replace the current Hostess but find several someones who will help her manage the many ceremonies and the large crowds. Application
- Post applications here! - This will remain open until most ranks are filled. - Currently, you may only apply for four total rank changes (i.e. if you got two characters promoted already, you can apply another two).
- No decisions will be made in the first seven days that this is open. These will be primarily first come/first serve for suitable applicants but spreading the special ranks around will also be a factor.
- Important! Ranks are frequently shuffled around when people are inactive for extended periods of time. If you disappear for several months/a year, your lion may end up demoted with some vague excuse (as in the announcement) and replaced by a fresh applicant.
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? If it came down to it, which side would they take? Would they be vocal or quiet about that side? Firmly decided, or could their mind be changed?
Personality: Why this rank? Why do they want to do this job?
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral - While Atsuko thinks there's other ways to help the Low Class, and has attachment to it due to her mother being a slave, she's not opposed to Shangyue being king. After all, it IS his birth right... And there's no REAL evidence of any of his relatives actually being dead...
Personality: A kind and gentle soul, Atsuko's biggest desire is to help others. She can be a vocal advocate for the Low Class, and has a fantasy of proclaiming one of the Low Class males as a mate, to elevate him not just out of the Low Class, but into the High Class. Why this rank? Because of her desire to help others, Atsuko wishes to help ease the transition of rogues into the pride's life - Be they High Class, Low Class, or anything in between.
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Loyalist - He's been fairly firmly decided on what side he's on since Shangyue came to power, as it gives his cousin, Nina, a place in the world besides Slave, especially since she can never escape the rank.
Personality: Somewhat stoic, usually pleasant, Kin is fast to defend his family and their decisions - Even if they're conflicting choices, such as his aunt and cousin different in sides on the Shangyue issue. He may just feel stronger about one than the other(Such as the Shangyue issue - He loves his cousin dearly and sided with her over his aunt). If it comes to it, he'll come to blows over somebody bad-mouthing the royalty. Why this rank? With a family as big as his, and as tied to the pride as it is, Historian would be utterly perfect to his mind. Plus, he'd obviously paint Shangyue in good light if anybody asked about that period of history. Nobody found any bodies, so who's to say they're even dead?
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral, leaning rebel. She hates Shangyue, buuuut she hates most males so many would just assume her distaste for him derives from that.
Personality: Usually angry, extremely protective of her family, and in the end, she's loyal to the pride as a whole, and not any monarch. She's fight to the death kind of girl. : D Why this rank? She wants to be able to do more than she is now, and is extremely driven to fuel her frustrations into something productive.
note: if her relationship may complicate this, feel free to turn her down <33 IC is complicated enough already, lmao.
Name:Kivuli`Mwezi Class: Middle Current Rank: Guard
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral, but Rebellion leaning - he's had a bit of rough luck due to Shangyue, but is able to bite his tongue. He would fuel his frustrations in to his job.
Personality: A father above everything, Kivuli leads a rather impressive legion of family in the Mwezi'Johari. He has been a guard since he could lift his paws off the ground, and believes that his home is the most important thing to watch over. He has had some drama, but his job takes presidents over everything. Why this rank? He has been following the steps of the Head Guard since he was a cub - taking after Nyota like a father. He feels like this would just be an easy role for him to slide in to.
*
Applying for: Priestess - Historian
Name:Wazitandama Class: Upper-Middle Current Rank: Huntress
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral - she thinks this infighting is just childish. She doesn't support Shangyue due to her (grand)father's situation, but she thinks he's done some good things.
Personality: Intelligent and witty, she believes in the pursuit of knowledge and stories beyond the desire to hunt or guard. She is of Kivuli's second breeding (but actually Yareha's second) and twin to Kizev, whom she is loyalest to. Whatever he decides, she will consider, but for now, she's a neutral creature, wanting to watch for the pursuit of knowledge. Why this rank? She is incredibly intelligent, and a sponge for information - being part of the largest family in the pride, she's come to memorize quite a lot of information already. It would be perfect for her to sidle in to.
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral, He really is not sure which way to lean. He could probably be convinced either way if someone put the time into him. It would probably be easier to convince him to join the rebels as mention of Shangyue's murders makes him skittish the king might turn bad.
Personality: Sweet, enthusiastic, young male he likes his job and wants to find his calling. He wants to ensure his pride is well fed from the elders down to the cubs. He also is starting to think about trying to find a mate.>.> Why this rank? He's already a hunter and has plenty of practice. Afrim really wants to make a place for himself in the pride and do something good.
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Loyal. But we all knew that already, didn't we?
Personality: Vicious, mean, and cruel are all words that describe Tyfu. She enjoys having power over others to torment as she chooses. Why this rank? Power. Power that is more official than people just knowing she's a threat.
Applying for: Apprentice - Host
Name:Inenekazi Class: Upper Middle Current Rank: Youth
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral. As a cub, she doesn't really know enough to pick a side. But she's intelligent enough to know she'll probably have to, given her parents and their ranks.
Personality: She can be a serious little thing, doing her job with all her concentration. She's perceptive enough to pick up on tensions her parents are feeling, even if she doesn't completely understand them. But then again, she's just a cub and can only be serious for so long before she wants something fun again. Why this rank? Ideally, Inenekazi would want to be her mother's apprentice, but she's not high enough class for that. Sad, but maybe it would be better to learn from someone who's not her mother anyway. She wants to contribute to the pride because she is related to the royal family after all, and serving the pride is what royals are supposed to do. She does like people and finds the few ceremonies she's witnessed to be fascinating.
Hunt Leaders 1. Rusha'maua (Talencia) - Loyalist, reward for information on rebels (ICly pending). 2. Afrim (magnadearel) - Neutral. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
Application limit is now reset, everybody who applied may apply for up to 2 more again if they wish. We don't need to fill them all up right away, so this won't be open indefinitely even if we can't fill 'em all :3
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Rebel, but mostly because of her mate, Baba'nyota. She is not very outspoken about this however.
Personality: Eshkohl does her duties well and efficiently, though she does occasionally show a sense of humor. She's a strong lioness who came to the Mwezi to make a home with her own paws. Why this rank? Eshkohl not only loves Nyota, but she also supports his position in the pride. She doesn't need to be his number two, but she does want to help him however she can.
Applying for: Hunt Leader
Name:Iki'renkli Class: Middle Current Rank: Huntress
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? Neutral, and torn between her slave and Royal Guard parents and her openly rebellious grandfather, Uchanjaa.
Personality: As a cub, Iki idolized her grandfather Uchanjaa for standing up for what he believed in. But when she went to get the full story from him, as her mother won't say a word on it, he too wouldn't say a thing. Why this rank? Disappointed and frustrated in her family drama, Iki has since buried herself in her duties. Anything, really, to avoid having to decide where she stands on the whole issue of her family.

Applying for: Hunt Leader
Name:Iaeratu Class: Middle Class Current Rank: Hunter
Loyalist, Rebel, or Neutral? She is Neutral at the moment, but I imagine she would be incredibly easy to sway over to the Rebel side.
Personality: A sweet female to those who are vulnerable or lower ranked than her, she has a healthy respect for every life she she comes across. She has an issue with authority if she feels that is corrupt, because she has a strong sense of duty. A duty to look after those who can't look after themselves and protect them as best she can. Why this rank? Iaeratu was born into the Ashnai'le pride; a hunter all her life she was essentially pushed around, a slave for those higher than her. She made the best of it though, working hard to supply food for EVERYONE, not just the high ranks. Coming into a new pride, I imagine she would enjoy the position of a slightly higher rank than just a hunter. Hunting is her life and she's good at what she does.
Application limit is now set at 4. You may successfully apply up to four characters for promotions.
For now, Eshkohl's application to be a Patrol Leader has been rejected since mouselet already has a lion in that rank. If it goes unfilled for an extended period, I will reconsider this decision.

We're going to call this an IC failure on Shangyue's part xD He'll suggest we did well getting more of what we need, of course.
