The slender female had found herself at a loose end. Her charge, Mbali was currently being escourted by her husband and Mwana's master, Lucivar. And since her main job was to aid Mbali day-to-day, she still wasn't sure what else Lucivar expected from her when she wasn't required for the task. But the two of them had gone off together, leaving Mwana with some unexpected free-time.
Though she still didn't know much of the land she was gradually expanding her known routes. Having made her way to the store and found herself a meal, she was at least no longer hungry. But having decided to explore a little further than normal she had set off along an unknown path.
Now, reluctantly, she had to conclude that she was lost. Again. Sighing softly she glanced back over one shoulder. She could go back, but that was akin to giving up and she was loathed to do that again. No, she needed to learn her way about and she wouldn’t do that if she kept going backwards. With a determined expression she continued along the path, keeping both eyes on the area around her, looking for something, anything familiar.

Sky was feeling especially pleased with himself. His morning had been spent in an invigorating bout of bargaining with the most outgoing of the Grei brothers, Solvslips, working to get the best barter for some twine Sky was convinced had to be monkey-woven, although Solvslips had not been so convinced, at least initially. It had required a number of demonstrations of the twine's tensile strength and durability, and Sky had to say that Solvslips certainly knew his stuff when it came to binding materials. Still, he was pleased with the overall outcome and feeling proud of himself because he could expect to be the proud purveyor of no less than thirty turtle shells within the week.
His eyes lit up when he saw a star-pelted lioness looking around in a somewhat bewildered way that he was certain he recognized. He waited to approach until he was certain that he had correctly recalled her name, however. The best salesmen are those who remember the people they're trying to impress and can demonstrate that they care by recalling details. Names are often the best place to start, particularly in a pride as large as the Stormborn, where it was entirely possible to live here one's whole life and still encounter strangers, he was told.
"Mwanamke Wa'mwezi," he exclaimed with a wide smile. "I'm so glad to see you again. How are things with the captain?"

The sudden voice made her startle, having not seen the handsome male arrive near by. Turning round to face him she smiled warmly, relief bright in her eyes for the appearance of someone she knew. “Skydas! It’s wonderful to see you again.” Clearly happy she ducked her head in greeting. “Oh, it is going well. Captain Lucivar is very kind, though I think I am getting under-paw more often than he will admit.” Blushing faintly she curled her tail round one hind leg, head tilting in a shy but sweet manner. “I was trying to explore this area as I have never been here before but… “ Flustered she laughed softly, a guiless and gentle sound, clearly embarrassed. “. I suppose you can imagine how well it’s going. I am sure I never got half so lost in the roguelands.”
“How have you been? I thought I heard your name a few times in conversation, seems you are making headway in the pride now?” She had remembered him telling her how he was also new, like she was herself, and hoped he had adjusted to pride life easier than she was.
Settling back on her rump she smiled shyly up at the trader, hoping he did not think too badly of her apparent lack of navigational skills. “But I’m getting along with Mbali really well. She is so sweet and kind. It is obvious they care about each other. I wish I could do more for Mbali, I feel so bad for her.” Pausing she blinked up at him, aware that in her nervousness she had started babbling, and also, she didn’t know if he had heard of the Captain’s blind wife. Dipping her head she blushed, suddenly aware of just how alone they were, this far away from the main crowd of the pride.

"I'm pleased to hear it," Skydas said. "Although I'm sure they're more glad to have you than you think. I can't imagine anyone not being pleased to have you around."
After all, she certainly improved the scenery. Given what he knew about Captain Lucivar, Sky wondered if his wife knew how pretty her seeing-eye thrall was. He wondered if it was something the captain particularly appreciated about Mwana. It was definitely something Sky appreciated about her.
"If neither Mbali nor the captain have complained about your service, I don't think you need to worry," he told her reassuringly.
"As for the getting lost, maybe with the rogue lands it was easier not to get lost because you weren't really anywhere in particular, so it was more difficult to be in the wrong place." Or something. Sky had a really good sense of direction, so he couldn't really empathize with her difficulties find her way around, but he could be pleasant about it.

Her soft laughter was lyrical and sweet, though as shy as the feline herself, as if she didn't let it free very often. "That is very kind of you to say. I will hope it is true then. They have been so kind, I would not wish to repay them by being a nuisance.” Entirely unaware of where her companion’s thoughts had wondered, the ex-priestess would liekly have been surprised to learn anyone found her physically attractive. As secluded as she had been in her last pride, she honestly had no opinion on her own looks. And so far she had simply been trying to fit in with the Stormborn, a pride she would have never thought to seek out let alone join, by herself.
Tilting her head she considered his theory, a warm smile appearing after a moment. “That makes sense! After all, I was simply trying to avoid strangers… Not that it turned out so well.” Huffing she thought back to her terrifying flight across the savannah, nearly getting herself ripped to shreds before a band of scar-covered strangers had inexplicably rescued her. Mentally shaking off such thoughts she gazed up at Skydas, fascinated with the male who appeared to be a new friend. At least he was the first pride member she had spent any amount of time with outside of Lucivar’s family and reaving band.
“How have you been doing lately?” Pausing she hit upon an idea. “Have you eaten? I am a good huntress, even if I am always lost.” She added playfully. It would be nice if he stayed for a chat, she liked spending time with him.

Sky bit back a response which would have reminded Mwana that she was a thrall, and her service was a requirement, and if she ever failed to do as the captain and his wife wished, she could be punished for it. It would not have been a well-received comment, he assumed.
"I've no complaints. Certainly I'm managing well enough that I don't need to have someone hunt for me." He smiled as he added the last bit to make it seem less like he was rejecting what he only now realized had been a gambit to spend more time with him.
"Business has kept me too busy for socializing lately, and so I've been feeling somewhat isolated," he went on. "If you aren't needed back at the den immediately, I could show you some of my favorite places in the pride. They might even be places Mbali would enjoy visiting."

Mwana had never even considered the idea of disobeying her rescuer. Lucivar had been beyond kind, and while she had never been given a choice about joining, it had been for her own safety at the time. Without anywhere to call home she had been happy to accept the position offered and being her Mistress’s seeing-eye thrall was a very satisfying job. Mbali was just about the sweetest female Mwana had yet met, and she adored spending time with her. So her status in this new place was hardly a burden. And honestly, Mwana had not yet considered the possibility that her lack of standing may cause problems further down the road.
Listening attentively she smiled, not at all offended. He seemed too nice to have meant it in a derogatory manner and the star-marked lioness didn’t even linger on the possibility. Instead she brightened at his offer, pale lilac gaze sparkling with pleasure at the idea. “That would be wonderful!” Beaming she blushed lightly, her shy smile warm. “I’m not required until tomorrow actually. Master Lucivar gave me the evening off.” She believed the two had planned some alone time, and at the very least she knew Lucivar was tending to his wife himself, his reaving band had been given leave for the next few days to entertain themselves. She knew because she had delivered the message to them all. Though finding that many lions had taken quite some time, she had told the last, Lucivar’s own son, an hour ago. So she had nothing else planned at all.
“It would be exciting to have new placed to take Mbali.” She was thrilled! She would get to know Skydas better, her very first friend in the pride, and she would have something to surprise her Mistress with tomorrow. Excited but trying not to show it she laughed softly. “I’m at your service then, Sky.”
Princess_Feylin Sorry this took a few days! Mwana-muse was being shy. X3

If Sky had any thoughts about why the captain might have given his wife's seeing eye thrall the evening off, he kept those to himself. They were not the sort of thoughts a gently-spoken lioness would be amused to hear, he was fairly certain, though if he had been born and raised in the pride he might have given voice to them even so. Fortunately, his time as a merchant rogue had left him somewhat more conscientious than that.
"My service?" he could not help repeating, a wide and amused grin baring his teeth. "That will never do. I hope you will this will not be an outing that feels like a form of servitude for you."
"I'm not sure all of these are places Mbali will be able to travel, as some require some fairly exacting acrobatics to reach, but I think we can find a few places that will appeal to her. However, I am more interested in seeing whether they appeal to you."Tanakako No worries. I'm excited for the pairing, but in no rush.

His words made Mwana blush brightly, pale pink eyes widening. “Oh! No, not at all!” Giggling shyly she ducked her head. “Sorry, turn of phrase. I am very excited to go with you, it is not a burden at all.” She often forgot things were different here in the stormborn. Her old pride had not kept slaves but she still used sayings from the desert without thinking. Blushing again she wondered if she had said other things to pride members that had been misunderstood. But there was little she could do about it now anyway. She was just glad Sky didn’t seem put off by her slip.
His next words caused the pretty little thrall to blink, smiling shyly. Something warm and strange bloomed within her at his words, making her drop her gaze while a soft little giggle escaped. Glancing up again, braving meeting his vivid emerald gaze, the young female nodded, clearly excited. “I would love to see them.” Tongue-tied she smiled softly, quiet excitement dancing in her gaze. She was thrilled to be able to spend more time with the handsome male, and to be shown some places that he liked.. It sent a shiver of anticipation through her. An adventure of her very own, with Sky! Stepping up beside him she tipped her head cutely at him, soft eyes wide and eager. “I am sure they will.”
Princess_Feylin Giddy Mwana is hilarious. She is so quiet about it.. XD I'm super excited for them too!

Sky grinned, pleased with the effect he was having on the pretty thrall. It was true that there were any number of lionesses in the pride with whom he would not have to go to the effort of charming them, and the fact that she was a thrall made his decision to do so something of an absurdity, but it amused him, and there was something to be said for keeping his people skills sharp.
"Don't trouble yourself. Outlanders like us often bring new phrases to the pride, and the Stormborn who have lived here longer duly ignore them." It was actually something that frustrated him, the pride's refusal to accept outlander ways, even when they made more sense than the pride's traditions.
"Anyway, let's get started."Tanakako Want to call this a wrap?

Laughing softly she nodded, pleased she had made him smile. She too had come across the hardheaded traditionalists in the pride. Luckily for her neither Lucivar nor Mbala were of that type, but many of the older reavers seemed to view the world in an antirely different way. Something that often bemused her.
Grinning for the first time, her nervousness fading in the face of her excitment, she stepped up beside him.
"Lead the way."
