Welcome to the next META-ORP. This is open to EVERYONE (cubs, adolescence, adults, even friendly passing rogues; though they will be treated with some suspicion following the events of the day).

This takes place after this RP, a few hours after the attack.

Summary of RP: The scent of a lion was smelled, and two teams broke up to try and find the intruder. One group stumbled upon two lions, who attacked. The lions were eventually driven away, but two of the adolescence (Son and Daughter of Hu & Scheherazade, Council Members) were both injured. Others sustained some injuries. A meeting was called to discuss these events.

The entire pride has been called out to this meeting.

Why am I quoted? Because you own a member of the colony, and ICly, every member of the colony is required to attend. You are not required to post at all, it’s only if you want to but know that ICly, your character would be there, just silent.
You will be quoted at the end of the ORP with a summary of the RP, so you don’t have to read the entire RP if you don’t want to c:

A group of strangers have arrived at the pride. They arrived in the pride at the same time as the lions were attacked, and so were not present at the battle. They are being treated with kindness, though some may fear their possible involvement with the attack. They would also be present at the meeting.

You own members of the stranger group, and so you are aware if you wish to post in this RP c: All characters from that group are now playable.

The entire colony had come out for the discussion. It was needed. After all, this was the first attack on the colony in years. Years, they had lived in peace but now the lions had attacked. What if there were more? It was a serious discussion to be had.

Hu was standing near the front of the group, with the other Council members. Everyone else had formed a circle around the council members.

User Image

Ai was by his side, sitting down and heavily bandaged across his face. He had refused, point blank refused, to stay in the den during the meeting. He was injured but it was his duty to be at the meeting. After all, he had fought in the battle. He deserved to be there.

He cleared his throat, awkwardly waiting for someone to break the silence around them. There were people whispering amongst the crowd, but no one was speaking yet.

User Image

Arcus, who would usually be at the front of the group with the council members was not. Instead, he stood beside his mate, his cubs collected close to him. He was glad that his mate had remained in the colony with their cubs when the battle was happening. It was something that he didn't have to worry about while he was fighting. He didn't show affection towards his mate, but his position by her side was clear of his affection.

Atticas was nervous. He didn't know why everyone was so serious, and tried whispering to his father. "Papa, what's happening?" He asked, nervously pawing at his father's paw.

Arcus glanced down and hushed him quickly. He knew his cubs had to be there, but he was cautious of drawing attention to them. This was a conversation for adults. They needed to be the ones speaking.

However, afraid of rejecting his son too harshly, he moved the young cub close to his side, allowing the boy to rest against him. A protective move, and the most affectionate the warrior would get.

Glacio

Glacio sat at the back of the group that had surrounded the Council members. As a newly named Story-Teller to the colony, he was required to attend the meeting, though he was at a loss to what his role in this meeting would be. Neither he nor the group he'd come to the colony with had any part in the lions' attack, at least not to his knowledge and when it came to his traveling companions, Glacio knew everything. Didn't he?

At any rate, he was here now and until he was formerly addressed by one of the other members of the colony or from a familiar face of his own group, his place would be to sit, listen, and learn all he could about this pride, the attack, and the rest of the world around him.

Scheherazade had remained silent after the whispered words to her son. There was much to think about, but it was being over shadowed by worry. What if the lions were not satisfied with this attack? Was it wise to have a meeting now, of all times, when reinforcements could be on their way?

Though she sat in front of the group there was noticeable distance between the pale leopardess and her mate. Her opaque eyes never settled on a single member, and instead found solace in the fur between her paws. It was a welcome distraction for her frenzied mind.

Chiyo was lounging some distance from the council, laid up on her left side to take pressure of her bandaged shoulder. She was exhausted, more so now after having made the walk here, but she wouldn't stay in the den while the meeting proceeded without her. Even if she did lack her usual vigor.

The silence, coupled with Arcus' refusal to stand with the Council... didn't bode well. There was enough tension in the silence to drive her mad, but she remained quiet. For now.

Mahari moved steadily through the strange lands, a rogue who had little to loose and hardly any interest to linger long. He sought no trouble, merely was attempting to pass through without the confrontation of a large pride or even a collection of Hyenas. For one who traveled alone, gathering the attention of a collection of any of the races was not ideal unless they were happy to be friendly. Licking his maw, a soft sigh escaped the mint colored leopard as he trotted quickly through the lands only to halt several steps ahead. Off in the distance, he thought he heard sounds, or at least saw some activity. Swiveling his ears lightly, he allowed a 'hmm' to rumble in his throat. It could be quite interesting to see what was going on.

((Hope this works for a rogue coming in biggrin Just let me know if it doesn't!))

Amaranta stood next to Arcus, her face was stern and serious. She hadn't been out with the colony when the lions had attacked, she had wanted to be there and fight for the safety of the colony but it was more important that she stay back with her cubs. She moved in to cuddle Akay. She made a point of constantly shuffling her litter of cubs closer to her making sure none of them strayed to far away from her and Arcus.

She didn't necessarily like having the cubs out in the open like this with all the things going on but it was important for them to see the workings of the colony. Plus Arcus was the Captain and she was a Law Speaker it wasn't like either of them could miss such an important meeting to stay back and mind cubs, they were working parents. She shifted her eyes to catch Arcus's they weren't exactly a cuddly couple but it was clear in the look that she gave them that they cared a great deal for each other and their cubs were the world to the both of them.

Naim stood torn. He had been at the fight, he had seen the outcome. He knew that it could have been different. The brown leopard wasn't sure where to stand or what to do. He shuffled back and forth on his paws finally deciding to split the difference between Arcus, his boss, and Ua the woman he had fallen in love with even if he hadn't had a chance to tell her yet.

Naim kept his eyes down unwilling to make eye contact with anyone. He could feel in the pit of his stomach that this was not going to go well. He didn't want to be the first to say it but the way things had gone down wasn't right.

Dysis stood close to Glacio closer to the back of the circle. The burnt orange female shifted her feet. She had heard buts and pieces of what had happened, attacks had occurred the most reason of which right around the same time her and her band of travellers had found the colony. The whole feeling in the colony was tense and uncomfortable. Dysis didn't know what to do so she just stuck close to Glacio's side.

User Image
Deker stood with the rest of the council, though at the same time decidedly apart from them. He was scanning the circle picking out members who had been in the battle with the lions, it was him that he would address first they had been there they had seen the outcome and if they didn't agree with what he said frankly they were stupid.

He took a step forward further into the centre and cleared his throat, this was the first time he would be addressing the colony as a whole.

"I am glad that we could all make it today as there is an important issue to discuss." He kept his voice level and formal, many wouldn't like what he had to say but this was business not personal, it was about what was best for the colony.

"It is no secret that the colony just faced another attack at the hands of a lion, and yet again we have suffered injuries. It is my position now that I bring to all of you that the leadership of this colony must be addressed and changed."

"During this battle two of our adolescents were injured. These are the future of our pride and frankly had no business being in a battle. The worst part of this is that their parents, who are both council members allowed such a thing to happen. Not only that but of the five council members only three were seen defending the colony, all of us should have been out there. Our leadership is lacking, we have two deadbeats and two that are barely managing to be parent much less leaders to all of you." The purple male stopped speaking and he scanned the circle hoping that others who had been there would now step forward with their opinions.

Hu felt the absence of his mate at his side like a knife to the chest. He knew she was angry. He was angry. They were both just furious at what had happened and Hu knew she was right to be angry at him. He should have put his paw down, he should have made the adolescents turn back. He didn't, and now two of his offspring were gravelly injured.

Hu flinched at Deker's words, but he didn't protest. He didn't voice his own disagreements. Instead, he stayed silent and waited for the others in the pride to speak up.

Painted Moose

Ai was in shock at Deker's words and he whimpered slightly as he rose to his paws.

"I am an apprentice!" He voiced loudly. "If I am old enough to take a trade, then I am old enough to defend my home. It was not my parents place as council members to step in and send me home. Do not judge them for my injuries!" He felt his head throb, the pain of his wound aching his brain something horrible.

Still, he stood firm.

Ua frowned and rushed to her brother's side. She had been standing with her family, but carefully watching but Chiyo and Ai. She stood next to him and felt him lean against her, using her as strength. Her own leg ached, but she still firm with him.

She didn't protest the words of Deker though. She hated that her father was being critised but...why hadn't he sent them home?

Arcus, gently nudging Atticas closer to Amaranta, rose to his paws and decided that he would voice his own opinion. "I think it is a difficult opinion to voice," he spoke, his voice a booming low sound that echoed around him. "I thank Council Leopard Deker for voicing it. I cannot help but agree." He knew it would be a blow to the council, for the Captain to disagree with them.

"There has been a lapse in the colony; the Council have been acting selfishly, and not for the good of the colony." He hesitated and firmed his stance.

"I for one believe that perhaps it is time for a new lead."

Atticas nuzzled close to his mother, confused as to his father's words. He pawed at Akay. "What's happening?" He whispered childishly to his brother, trying to figure it out.

Maybe his orange brother knew the details. Maybe Atticas was just slow and couldn't figure it out...

Kianga was silent, her face set in stone as she listened. She was standing near to where the group of strangers were standing. Not because she was suspicious of them - she had faith that they were not there to hurt them. She knew Hu was not the most loving father but she had to admit, she had thought him more protective of his offspring than to allow them to fight. She was confused but she knew it was not her place to judge.

"Hu and Scheherazade are both parents and council," Kianga pointed out loudly, unafraid to draw attention to herself. "It would be unfair and unwise to judge them for one in the context of the other. If they made a bad parenting decision, fine, but was there decision so wrong in terms of being council?" She raised a brow, meeting Deker's eyes head on.

Well if there was one good thing about Kianga it was that she was never afraid to speak her mind.

Ardhira'i wasn't really interested in the discussion. She knew she should be, but she really didn't want to pay attention and be involved. She had had an idea about her wings: wondering if mixing feathers and leaves would provide the correct lift for her body and finally gift her the ability to fly...

The feline knew that her dream of flying was foolish, but she was determined that she would give it a thorough go. She edged away from the group, cautious not to draw attention to herself as she snooped at the edge of the clearing for more feathers to collect.

It was then she noticed the scent of a stranger lingering, but it was that of a leopards, so she didn't panic. Instead, she squinted into the forest, attempting to spy the stranger.

Mahari never attempted to conceal himself and really it was quite evident to spot the leopard if one simply tried. His curiosity was starting to get the best of him and with this leading his actions he found himself slowly moving towards the sounds that traveled through the air. What he didn't know was someone had already spotted the white masked male and currently spied upon him!

Continuing to move forward with caution, he took care not to get to close so that his scent would travel downwind among those who had gathered far ahead. Instead he would sit down upon his haunches, slowly rotating his oval shaped ears as he attempted to pick up a voice or two...neither that seemed plausible at the moment.

After some time had passed, Mahari gave up on learning anything new before he turned around to leave. Perhaps it wasn't anything at all..and with this conclusion, the mint colored jaguar turned around, his interest lost for the time being.

Glacio

Grey eyes moved between each leopard as they brought a new opinion to the topic, or voiced support of someone else's. From what Glacio had gathered through even this small beginning was plenty.

His group had been informed that there had been a lion attack recently and from this talk between the colony members, it seemed as though a change of leadership was being discussed. While Glacio didn't know much to form a vocal opinion, he was silently considering the problems that were brought up.

A violet leopard had mentioned that all of the leaders should've been fighting, but was this really wise? If the fight had been more severe and leaders were killed in the battle, wouldn't it have been a good thing that two of them had survived due to not participating in the fight?

A loud voice not far from where Glacio sat drew his attention next. He turned his gaze to a blue-speckled leopardess with vivid green eyes. She was speaking of the judgement of one of the leaders, claiming it was simply a misjudgment of parenting. She went on to voicing a question: Why was the leader's decision so wrong in the terms of being a council member?

That had an easy answer, of course. The leader who had made this "bad parenting decision" as the leopardess put it, might take this action with the adolescents or youths that weren't their own cubs, but regular colony members. By the accusations that were being thrown at the leader, though Glacio had so far been unable to determine which one was at fault, he was able to deduce that if blood had been spilled that was not of the leader's cubs, this discussion would've been ended before it began.

Chiyo's blood pressure shot through the rough.

It was raw enough for Deker to speak out about her injuries, but his accusations are what had her thirsting for his blood. "No business?!" She shrieked. Chiyo shot up to her paws, instantly regretting it as pain lanced through her shoulder. She dropped to a tilt, but remained on her paws, albeit with a pained grimace behind her fury. Why was she not surprised to see Deker being backed up by Arcus? For all she had done, all that her parents had done in the name of this colony..."You're the ones with no business to judge. If we had still be suckling cubs then we would have stayed, but we are just as capable-"

"Enough." Scheherazade ordered. Her daughter's tirade was silenced for the moment, though the leopardess knew it would not hold her for long. There was only a vague hope it would stop her son in his tracks. She stepped forward, leveling her gaze to Deker and Arcus. For once in her life her voice was loud, clear, and resolute. "Council Leopard Deker, Captain Arcus...Judge the parenting of Hu and I if you must, but do not doubt our leadership. Have both your eyes failed you," and here she made sure her voice was loud enough for the entire assembly to hear, "or were the very adolescents you seek to coddle not the very ones who fought the hardest against our foes? My offspring are cubs no longer."

Although she stood apart from Hu, Scheherazade looked to him for the first time since the initial strike. There was much that needed to be addressed between them, but she would not stand to see him tarnished. "Your time would be better spent asking where the members of the Defense resided during this time of strife. Three members, beyond yourself Arcus, were present. Where were the rest of your forces? If you must call the vacant Council members dead beats, Deker, then do so with the knowledge that we are not the only sector with failings."

She waited a moment, and moved forward at a limp to speak again. "Three members, while four adolescents took up the call." Chiyo sneered. "You're so quick to condemn my parents, and yet we, the adolescents, and two Scholars came to fight."

Gaze bright with mixed emotions of worry and curiosity Lalika had found the colony hosting a major meeting. Normally the tutor had a sharp tongue, but today she found herself shushed. I can’t believe this all happened so quickly. How was it that the tutor had been on the edge of the borders meeting with an old friend when the lions had invaded? Her fur bristled at the thought…ever since the late meeting with that crazy lioness years ago lions held a shadow in her heart. Even if her old cubmates had found their loves to be lions, Lalika just couldn’t imagine it.

Lions were too hasty and often bullied other species as inferior or even as food…

The thought made her grimace. It was her expression that caused the rogue male at her side to frown, “Lali, if you keep that expression on your face it might freeze in place.” The large leopard nudged her carefully, “I may be a stranger here, but it looks like things are in place for now.”

“Dinari…” The leopardess bit the inside of her cheek in worry, “Just behave yourself alright?”

If only it had been as simple as that.

At Deker’s words Dinari frowned and found himself standing up, “I apologize if I’m out of place, but as a friend of someone living here I am afraid I must question this.” The leopard lazily flicked his tail behind him as he surveyed the colony members sitting around, “From what I’ve heard and witnessed…” He looked to the two adolescents with their injuries, “I don’t believe it’s fair to take out your leaders based on one battle. Did you not chase off the lions I heard about?”

“Dinari…” Lalika found herself reaching a paw forward but was stopped by his stern gaze.

“”I agree with the young one’s response.” The leopard shrugged, “If it helps to listen to an outsider’s words then I gladly give them to you. A leopard that leads his group into battle and does not baby adolescents and instead lets them fight for the home they grew up in then is that really a sign of bad leadership? Your leader did not falter in presenting those who wished to fight and gave a good fight. It’s not like he sent out the lame or anything to fight, but rather had warriors rising up. Any good leader has to set aside that he is a father because in this situation he should consider everyone his family. Would it make sense to coddle those who can and are willing to fight?”

User Image
Nassir sighed as Dinari spoke, “I agree with the rogue.” His brilliant gaze swept over the council members, “For those council members who are not present and seemingly give no advice to the colony…yes we should confront them and have a vote on whether they should fill such an important position. For Hu though I feel that he did as a leader should. He boldly addressed the problem and led us against the lions. For those who were not there then shame on them…should not defense also be working better to resolve such a lack of warriors for future situations?” His gaze was steady as he studied Arcus and Deker.

He himself still felt guilt over being so slow to the scene. They should have had better planning on such a situation. Still he had felt the skin of the lion beneath his claws and had resolved that even though his presence had been delayed the reasoning was just. Who knew what could have happened if more lions had appeared from the side?

The warrior shrugged his shoulders, “Call it bad parenting if you must, but I know other ways of life. Out there adolescents often fight and what was wrong with letting those who wanted to fight go for it? Did you not trust yourself to back them up during a fight? Should we be also worried about replacing the defense sector if they can’t even stand strong against lions?” Nassir nodded his head towards the council, “As is I think Hu did what he could and that was face the problem rather than spending time trying to coddle well bodied fighters.” For him this bickering was a waste. They should be focused on resolving future security breaches and how on to best protect the colony. Booting out leaders was not the best call. Who knew how much chaos could result from this?

User Image
Biting her lip Sayuri looked over the group. Deker’s words placed a stone in her stomach and the young leopardess shook her head in protest. “We chose to come…he never forced us.” She whispered quietly into the crowd. Was it so wrong for them to fight? Shouldn’t they be old enough to take a stand on their own? Truthfully she was glad that even the stranger spoke up for her father. It was a relief to hear.

Amaranta scooped her six youngins closer to her when her mate step forward to support the violet council member. She wasn't surprised that Arcus would support what Deker said. Her white mate had been fumming ever since the battle had occurred.

The indigo female was a little surprised that the rest of the colony didn't see it, didn't understand why it was all a big deal. She wanted to speak in his defence but didn't know how much people would listen to him as she wasn't out on the battle fields. She cleared her throat a little, "As a parent I can say that I would worry if our leaders aren't showing concern for their own children's well being how can I know that they will show concern for mine?" Her voice was quite particularly in comparison to her mates but her point was a valid one.

The creamsicle coloured cub moved further into his mother's side and looked to his brother with big wide eyes. "I don't know what is happening but I don't like it." he whispered his eyes big with fear. All the adults were so angry and yelling and the young cub wasn't truly able to understand what they were all yelling about.

"I wish we could leave." he said a whimper in his voice.

Naim took another step forward, moving closer again into Arcus. He gave Amaranta a quick nod. The two of them had joined the colony around the same time and it would seem by the pile of cubs around her ankles that she and Arcus had quickly found each other. Naim of course knew the cubs having worked closely with Arcus since the day he joined the pride and become a Warden.

"It is true the defence sector should have been there in a big force, and perhaps it is something that Captain Arcus and I have to look into. Find out where our guards were and what needs to be done. Training is clearly in order, but it is no secret that this colony has been victim to now two attacks, clearly something is being done wrong." He shot an apologetic look towards Ua, he hated to bring up her attack but everyone was speaking as if this was the first time any sort of attack had happened on the pride.

Velveteen Angel

Dysis had nothing to say about the matters this all seemed to be a big disaster, perhaps this colony wasn't the place for her after all. She hated conflict she wished she could slip away from the ground into the forrest to collect items for her next potion.

"What have we gotten into?" She asked moving towards Glacio. He was the leader of there motly crew. He would know what to say and do. The burnt orange leopardess was uneasy.

belloblossom

Deker stood strong his head held high. He hadn't expected his points to accepted without a little resistance, or question. He waited till everyone had had their say. He took a deep breath and offered a nod to both Arcus and Naim, they had been there they had seen.

"I do not mean to put you off young ones." He said towards the adolescents who had spoken up. "I am also not saying that it was not brave and commendable that you would desire to fight for your home. But you yourself young man has you are an apprentice meaning that you are still in training and if I am not mistaken you are in training to be a law speaker not a fighter. Even if you were be trained to be a fighter you are just starting your training you would just be beginning, not ready to be facing a true opponent, an opponent much much longer than you."

"For those of you question why I would make a comment about not only the leadership of our council but their parenting abilities I believe Law Speaker Amaranta says it best. If we can't count on them to keep their own children safe, how are we to know they will keep the rest of the young in this pride safe. One would think and hoe that there young would be the ones that wished to keep safe most of all."

"Counsil Leopard Scheherazade, I resect that your children are not young anymore and I admire their courageousness. However had they not been there perhaps those of us who are trained in defence would have been able to act more strategically. You said it yourself you children fought hard but they fought dumb. We far out numbered those lions and should have been able to scare them off without any serious injury to any of our force. However your children threw themselves to hard at the battle without thinking first that they set themselves up for grave injury. No one was able to be strategic from that point forward. It is my strong opinion that had the children not been their Captain Arcus, Warden Naim and myself would have been able to launch a much better and strategic attack. Perhaps even your husband and yourself would have been able to fight better as you wouldn't have been paying attention to there where abouts of your young, and how they were fairing, you would have been able to fight offensively not defensibly." Deker took a deep breath, waiting for the response of his colony.

Hu had been thinking long and hard when the other leopards around him spoke, voicing their opinions. He knew they were all valid. They all had their reasons to defend his and his mate's actions. He didn't blame Scheherazade for it though. She had been obviously against the youths being there, but he had allowed them to remain. Ai had been shadowing him, and that's why he had gotten into trouble. The blame rested soley on his shoulders.

He stared at the leopards and knew that he had made his decision. He had made it as soon as his son and daughter had been injured.

"I thank everyone for speaking up in my defence," he spoke calmly, his voice quiet and cold. "I apppreciate your support, however I agree with Deker. I should not have allowed my offspring to remain in the battle. I should have sent them back to the colony as soon as the lion was scented. While they are strong, they are the future of our colony. Their time to defend was not now."

EVENT
He took a steading breath and bowed his head. "It is because of my agreement with Deker that I resign from the Council Position. I believe there are others more fit to serve than I and I would not harm the colony, or my family, by continuing to lead when I feel unable to do so."

He raised his eyes to meet Scheherazade's. "I cannot balance being both a Council leader and a father, and if I must choose, then I choose my family." He hadn't spoken to Scheherazade about his decision. She hadn't even spoken to him since their offspring had been attacked but he hoped she understood.

Painted Moose

"Da..." Ai whispered in shock, his good eye going wide and he ignored the pain that the facial expression brought him. It was because of him that his father was resigning from the colony, he and Chiyo had gotten hurt and now their father was no longer leading the colony that he loved. "I'm so sorry," he whispered, knowing that he would be unable to change his mind.

"I didn't want this," he whispered, his voice just loud enough for his family to hear.

Ua showed her support of her father, not through words, but by gently resting her forehead against his shoulder, her pale coat standing out starkly against his. She felt intense sad, because it was also due to her attack that this had happened. Had it not been for her attack, he would still be council.

She blinked back tears, feeling utterly overwhelmed by it all.

She raised her gaze, looking at Deker, Arcus and even Naim with an expression of intense pain. I hope you're happy! her face cried at them, look what you've done!

Arcus flinched at the look on Ua's face, he felt bad for the young female because this would crush her, but he was proud of Hu. He retook his place next to Amara, placing his paw over hers in a sign of affection and tucking their cubs between them, careful to make sure they were protected.

"I admire your courage to stand down, Hu," he said, his voice showing his respect for the older male. "I believe you are doing the right thing. The colony is growing, and perhaps it is time for a new lead to take us forward." Arcus would not flatter himself thinking that he could lead the colony, but still...it would be interesting to see who took Hu's place.

"Maybe we could sneak off?" Atticas whispered, but when both parents fussed again, moving them closer to them he knew that his plan would never work. He whimpered and pawed at his mother, trying to hide beneath her tail. "I don't like all these people around us," he muttered, trying to block them from his view.

Kianga shook her head in disappointment. Hu had been on the council for a long time, raising the pride from it's slump of members, to the thriving pride around them. She stood close enough to hear Dysis comment to Glacio and she glanced towards them.

"We are not like this normally," she rushed to reassure them. "I fear you joined at our most tumultuous time...I hope it will not last long." But she honestly did not know how the fear and concern in the pride would be resolved. The assigning of new council would be good, but...would that fix everything? And who in the colony was strong enough to lead?

Ardhira'i had wiggled through some of the branches blocking her view, thankful that her pelt was brown and so she blended quite naturally into the landscape. Ha, she was totally made for this colony, she mused to herself.

She spotted Mahari in the forest, though he seemed to be leaving. She pouted in disappointment and wiggled up into a tree, leaping from the branch to one closer to him. She peered down at him.

"Where'ya going?" She asked, unaware that her pelt was riddled with feathers and twigs from her latest experiment, the assorted objects matted into her fur and making her look quite...wild and not really that civilized.

Chiyo bit her lower lip hard enough to draw blood. Her eyes burned with tears too frustrated to fall. What was happening? This wasn't fair; none of it was! It wasn't her parents fault. It just wasn't.

Whatever composure her mother had scrapped together fell completely when her father stepped down and Chiyo saw past her mask for the first time. Even in the roughest of moments Scheherazade had remained quiet; a pinnacle of grace, dignity, and aloofness. Now her mother was desperate, near tears herself, and Chiyo could see the metaphorical noose tightening around her throat.

She turned her head away from the scene and sat back down.

Public support only went so far before it fell on deaf ears. Scheherazade was at a loss. It felt as if she were swimming in sand with the sun fading from sight far above her. She hitched her breath and nodded to Hu. "...If that is what you wish." Whatever she had expected the outcome of the day to be had died alongside a piece of her soul.

Turning to address the colony, Scheherazade took a heavy breath and exhaled shakily. It took everything within her not to leave, but her paws were too heavy to move. "It seems as if my paws are tied. I will not remain in a position where my choices may endanger the lives of others." Her eyes flicked to Amaranta and the cubs at her side. If she had been so bold as to force them, then perhaps her own would still be safe by her side as well, and looking to others with fear in their young eyes instead of her.

Scheherazade let her tired eyes fall to the ground. Her voice was loud and clear, but clearly uneasy. "From this moment forth I too shall resign from the Council Position." She was having a hard time breathing, and wanted nothing more than to run. Too much was happening too soon to suit her.

Chiyo looked up in shock to her mother, and found she could not only see the pale leopardess' face. How many more humiliations would they be put through?! Through the gathering she found the forms of Arcus and Deker. She knew of the animosity between her mother and Arcus, but Deker...

She narrowed her gaze and curled her lip back over her fangs. I will not forget this.

Lalika was quiet in shock. Hu was stepping down? Along with Scheherazade? She looked over at Dinari with confused eyes, "I'm sorry that you came in at such troublesome times..." Her voice was low and full of sorrow. Personally she had never had trouble with the two council members and found them more to her liking than the others.

In a way it made her feel oddly defeated, "Who will lead now then?" She asked quietly.

Dinari found himself shaking his head sadly. The struggles of power... Still the leopard just shrugged. He didn't know much about the two council members and so couldn't argue their decisions. He just hoped that this colony could stay strong without them. Either way it seemed like a good story to collect so he would stay here for now.

He liked to observe such things after all.

Concern for the cubs? Nassir had a low growl in his throat. Hu had never forced his children to tag along. Surely adolescents were at the age of choice. They could decide if they could fight or not. He knew several adults far more reckless that could have ruined the fight just as well. Couldn't they just take their win and focus on what was important? This spat over two injured adolescents should have rested in Hu's family not with the colony. The leopard just shook his head. Maybe this was why I preferred roaming to these situations.

Seriously what had stuck an antelope's antlers up some of these asses?

And it was fine for Arcus to walk away with Deker like they weren't at fault? Nassir grinned through a low growl, "So it's fine for some to just apologize and promise to do better in the future than take the punishment they give others? I suppose maybe my past as a rogue leaves me easily confused on these colony decisions." Sounded more like some didn't like to lose their power. The warrior's fur bristled as he turned, "As is I can't change anyone's mind especially if Hu and Scheherazade feel this is best. I will respect their decisions." He still would give them his respect, especially with the blow they had just taken because of this foolishness.

But for now he would take a break from this foolish discussion, "Just let me know when you want to focus on the true problem of potential lion threats rather than this." The leopard cast a faint grin behind him, "I'll be there to fight with and train any of the defense sector that needs more knowledge on handling them." He was curious about these promises to do better. Nassir was certain to keep them to that.

Stalking off the leopard left the group to go through the woods. His steps slowed though when he saw the familiar flash of feathers and twigs on Ardhira'i's pel, "Hey what are you doing out here..." His gaze immediately sharpened as he caught the scent of a stranger and the leopard tense defensively. What now?

No, no, no, no! Sayuri's gaze brimmed with protest. Who were they to demand such things from her parents? And for her parents to do such a thing for her and her siblings? "Like we want that to happen...we never wanted this to happen." She protested quietly while shaking her head. This was ridiculous!

Through the burning tears though she looked towards the shapes of Arcus and Deker...she would never forgive them for this.

Just wait...one day the tides will turn and justice will be had.

If no one else would do it then she would find a way. One day.
