The young male had dragged himself out to the middle of nowhere. True, it was hard to find somewhere to be alone, but the fact was that he wanted the place to practice. He was smaller than most males, this much Gaefuleysi knew. Smaller, lighter, but under his pelt, there were muscles that had build themselves from play-fighting his siblings. From fighting, he'd grown to where HE learned how to fight. This place, this clearing, was a good place for him to practice. To use his paws to guide him through the same steps against his shadow. It was the same general idea that one would use to learn how to fight against an enemy. The only problem was that the newly grown adolescent was still getting used to his own figure, his newly developing sense of self. Ah well. Practice did make perfect.

Unusually for Svana, she had found herself at a loose end. Her brother Kale was busy elsewhere in the pride and her reaving band were all resting from their latest Viking. She knew she would have to start looking for a pernament band to join, or accept Captain Lucivar's offer to remain with his band as a pernament member. But his band was well established and worked well together, and she felt something of a need to challenge herself further, maybe she would join a younger band and see what happened.

Lost in her thoughts as she was, she had walked further than usual. The sound of movement up ahead caught her attention and she lifted her head, making sure her own steps were silent as she rounded the bend in the path. Standing close to a large rock, partly hiden but not trying to remain so, she watched the dark male a short way further along. He appeared to be practicing....? Though doing so without a real live opponent seemed a bit odd to her.

After a moment she strode forwards, head high and tail curling behind her. Her posture and stride were naturally confident, her lean body hard with muscle but not bulky. And a half-healed scar crossed over one shoulder, a memento from her latest viking. "Hello there." She called out, rich, warm voice curious. "What are you up to?"

The second he'd heard footsteps, Gaefuleysi was standing taller, trying to puff himself up as much as possible. She was....different. There was a scar that indicated....a good fight. Viking, he supposed. Those golden eyes took in everything, more than likely most other's would. That was how he learned, looking, since he didn't talk all that much, mainly due to the fact that his own voice was slightly raspy. It didn't sound all that pleasant to the ears, and the young Adolescent was alright with that. His tail flicked, braid hanging against his shoulder as he worked himself up to tell her what he was doing.

"Shadow..........fighting." He murmured softly, shifting on those green-tinted paws, trying to figure out why it would matter. The male didn't recognize her off the top of his head, but he'd not really be the sort to stay around the others....to socialize, as it were. Fighting his siblings had been enough for the son of Ruzski and Kazul. "Gaefuleysi." It was a quiet introduction, barely spoken, softly. A part of him itched to ask her to spar with him, so he could test himself. A part of him wanted to know if she REALLY got that scar where he'd thought she had. Ah, what it would mean to brawl with a Reaver....

Pale silver eyes studied the quiet male as he shifted on the spot. Maybe he was shy, or maybe he couldn't talk? She hadn't yet met a mute lion, but she knew a blind one so it wasn't too strange an idea for her. After all, Captain Lucivar's lifemate was a blind lioness. Svana sometimes visited Mbali and the pair had shared some interesting conversations. Mbali had even gotten Svana thinking about training without seeing, though so far it had proven harder than she had assumed, and had made her respect for the lioness grow considerably.

When at last the male spoke she tipped her head, interested. "Shadow fighting?" I've not heard of that... Does it work?" The word that followed she took as his name, so she padded forwards, stopping before him. They were of a height, as she was older than him but as a female, she was naturally slightly smaller. "It is a good day to die, Gaefuleysi. I'm Svana." She returned, using the traditional Viking greeting.

"Not as well." His response was amused as she moved to sit in front of him. Strange girl, this one. Svana. A beautiful name at the very least. The male shifted only once more, studying her build, her muscle....stronger than he was, likely. At least for the time being. "Svana." Her name rolled off his tongue, throat rasping it slightly as his claws sank into the earth, shaking out what little bit of water might be in his pelt. Just some morning dew...nothing too distinct. However, his curiousity got the better of him, "....Reaver?" He wanted to know more than anything. Namely because she was....If she was, she could indeed help him train. He wanted to be as strong as he could be....be of use.

Standing again, he stretched, ".....Would you...Spar?" He had to ask. There was no harm in doing so, was there? No....Not particularly. It would actually do quite well if he was willing to assist as best he could. It would do her a favor, and him as well....at least if Ley's mind was working this correctly.

His slow manner if speaking made her tilt her ahead again. He could clearly talk, maybe he was just very shy? She didn't think it was herself that was the issue, for if he wanted to be left alone all he had to do was say so.

"It could be good for flexibility...." She mused thoughtfully. "But strength? Seems an opponent would be more useful." Maybe he didn't have anyone to train with? The idea saddened her. She herself had always had her brother and their other siblings, though only Kale had truly matched her desire to fight, her dark-coated brother had been her sparring partner since before either of them could remember... And she knew it was thanks to their training with each other than she had won her reaver status at so young an age.

Pulled back to the present she nodded her head at his question. Or she thought it was a question anyway. "I am, I serve with Captain Lucivar currently." She added, hoping that if she opened the conversation up more, he might feel comfortable enough to follow her lead. Ears pricking with interest at his query she grinned, instantly shifting into a ready stance.

"I would be very pleased to spar with you, Gaefuleysi." Tossing her head to get her braid out of her eyes she grinned somewhat toothily at him. "Five points to win, any hit that would disable or slow an opponent in a real battle counts as one point. No going for the eyes or underside." They were her usual rules when sparring with her brother, and she had learned to state them before a fight when their sister had unexpectadly joined them, as apparently not everyone used the same rules.

There was something about her, Gaefuleysi decided, that he distinctively liked. She was sensible, and while yes, he did have others to train with, he nearly never got a chance to pit himself. Little Luckless one. He was full aware of his name's meaning, and as she finally answered who she was, his eyes lit up curiously. Lucivar...Ah, that was a name that all of the Pride knew well. He was a powerful captain, and as she offered to spar with him, the darker male was quickly on his feet. Rolling his shoulders, he offered her a smile in turn. His long braid fell quickly into place against the joint of neck and blade, ready to properly fight as she laid down her terms.

Yes, that sounded very good.
Stretching his claws out, he sheathed them partially as he paced towards her. No more words were needed, instead, only actions. The male circled her, studying every line of her figure, every inch of her. It would not do to underestimate an opponent in a fight, and Ley was nothing if not a strategist. He would not win if he was not careful, as Svana was a Reaver. He was nothing but a Freeborn. Perhaps they could at least come to a draw point. Despite all his thought, he was focused rather distinctly upon her, unwilling to turn golden eyes away as they lit with a light. Once on her right side, he suddenly moved in, quick and agile, aiming to score at the back of her back leg, and if not there, he would drop and go for her underbelly. He wanted to try to see how his own speed would do against hers.

Shifting so her weight was evenly balanced on all four paws, the young reaver grinned as he moved to circle round her. He appeared to be less skilled than her, and younger, but she didn’t know him, didn’t know how he would react. He could be a very accomplished fighter… who was to say his ‘shadow fighting’ style didn’t work? She would not underestimate him. The only thing she knew for certain was that she had more experience of real fight-to-kill battles. A surely no Viking would be as vicious or as deadly as the Sith male she had met, the same one that had given her the scar now healing upon her shoulder.

Lowering her head as he circled, she flexed her claws in the dry earth, muscles tightening in readiness. The instant he sprang she reacted, having been watching the centre of his body rather than his face, which was where all movement originated from. Yet instead of moving away to avoid the blow she spun about one planted forepaw, drawing her flanks out of his range and instead presenting her snarling maw to him. Fangs snapped open, driving forwards for the thick ruff of developing mane at his throat, her front paw lashing upwards, claws extended with the intention of snagging his foreleg. If she managed to unbalance him, he would have no chance of escape or retaliation.

The moment she moved was the moment he began to pay closer attention still. Her fangs at his throat caused his head to snap back, and as claws shot for his forelegs, he leaped backwards, moving away from her with a shift of his small frame. The most he was good at was evasion, and the fact was that he knew, in the battle between Svana and himself, she was more likely to win. She was more experienced in the real-world affairs. He...Ah, he'd yet to prove himself, a simple Freeborn in a Pride of warriors. Ah, he had to prove himself somehow. Ducking down low to the ground, he aimed to get his teeth into one of her legs, using his paw to swipe, fur bristling slightly.
