The world in which The Black Dagger Brotherhood takes place, is that of modern day New York. It is centers around the city of Caldwell, and the outskirts there of. Most of what transpires, takes place in the shadows and goes unseen by mortal man. Helps when you are a vampire that can erase short term memory, and makes their presence with what they call mhis. An illusionary barrier that distorts the on looker into believing what is really going on in fact is not. There by making it seem normal as any other day or time. Humans do not know that vampires exist, however live amongst them just like any other being out there. Vampires do their best to blend in, and don't feed from humans. No in fact they only feed off of the opposite sex of their own kind. Only taking just enough to stave the hunger with in, otherwise they eat and drink just like a normal human. The only difference is, they can't go out in sun light, and have racial abilities and powers that aid them in remaining hidden. Not to mention, you can't be turned into one...But must be born into their race. Vampires are a dying breed, and do what they can to survive. The warrior class, are charged with the sole protection of their race and that of humans from the Lessening Society. A growing faction created by The Omega in spite of The Scribe Virgin whom created the vampiric race.
