It really wasn't like Aureole to go out like she did. The cozy dorms were just fine for her but... There was something about the outdoors area by the dorms that screamed 'home' to her. Her home in the mountains were completely covered in foliage and forest. And she had heard that it was alright to wonder out here. Er... Well, fly, as she was doing. And it happened to be a pretty good area to practice sneaking in and out of shadows. It was fun! And who else was, honestly, going to be anywhere remotely close to her? Aureole quickly did another shift into another shadow and popped out from behind the upper branches of a tree before scanning the area close to her before 'shadow jumping' again.

The Tower was beautiful, and nice, and all... but Qui often times felt cramped, or out of sorts there. Seeing all his kin getting on well with one another, he easily felt like an outsider amongst his fellow horsemen.
And so here he would come, to get away from it all, and for that slight, hopeful chance he might run into a certain boil. It was a longshot, and pathetic, he knew, but he couldn't help himself. He'd finally made some kind of connection. Something he'd been starved of for so long now...
Perched within the dense, thick, eerie forest, he sat upon a rather sturdy branch, his wings outstretched as he preened them diligently. He plucked underneath their many layers, dislodging old feathers that would be replaced by new. They would flutter down so gracefully to the ground, like leaves, effortlessly and quiet. But his sharp golden eyes lifted from his work, picking up on the change in the wind... something cutting through it. Pausing, he stared, and listened, look around from his post. It was unlikely to be something dangerous, given where he was, but... it could mean someone else was nearby. Whether that be good or bad was a mixed bag.

Another shifting out of the shadows and she was close to gulping down air. But this was the reason for her trying such a gutsy thing out in the forest, surrounded by the very element she was used to using. It seemed she had been spat out along the middle of a tree. She steadied her hooves on the branch, bent over from the hip as she tried to catch her breathe. But a peculiar thing caught her eye. A feather? It certainly wasn't one of hers. She picked it up, none the less and studied it. Turning it over and over, the coloring was interesting. Hers were either white or a deep navy coloring was this was a rich red! Not thinking anything bad of it, she tucked the feather into the sleeve of her coat, securing it in one of the few hidden pockets. Aureole didn't think too much of the source of the feather before jumping back into the shadows. She made an effort to slow herself down as she re-entered the world of light again from the same tree. And it seemed she had found the source of the feather. ' A boil out here?' A curious thought but, then again, she was out here too. "Boo." She said lightly with a smirk. Never one to miss a chance for a light scare.

He listened intently, the changes of wind in the air easily audible for him, since flight sounds were something he was very accustom to. He'd not met another winged individual since coming here, which proved to be something semi-interesting, but not all that big a deal for him. Using assumptions, he figured it must be a Halloweener of some kind, since he'd never seen any other mares or stallions come out this way. Except Mmur, that one time... either or, the guy didn't have wings. So he was crossed off automatically..
The cuts, and beats of wings made him able to at least follow the source vaguely as it sweeped and dove around, not at all surprised when he heard a voice finally peep up. Unfortunately for the ghoul, she would not get the reaction she was seeking in her appearance. Qui casually glanced in her direction, giving a small nod in acknowledgement, before his wings relaxed again.
"I'm not in your way, am I?" he asked, with a small scan around their given area to check for any others that might be accompanied with her.

Well phooey. No fun in not being able to get a good fright out of the other. She lowered her raised arms with a slight frown. But his wings were pretty at least. Aureole rummaged around in her sleeve for a moment. "Nah, just didn't really expect to see anyone else out here." Her entire arm nearly disappeared into the sleeve before pulling out the feather. She held the feather up to the other's wings before nodding. "Thought so! This was yours." It was a pretty feather aannnddd he had seemed to have been discarding several others. So what was the harm in keeping it? She tucked it back within her sleeve before stretching out her own wings for a moment or two. Shadowing-hopping as much as she had been doing took a lot out of her.

He watched the shuffling she did within the confines of her massive sleeves, almost expecting the ghoul to produce some sort of surprisingly large object you'd never guess, from there. But when it was one of his own feathers, he blinked with a little hint of surprise.
The wing it was compared to flexed a little to stretch out, lining beside the feather that'd been harvested, before the stallion glanced back up to the Halloweener, "Yeah. Was preening them, over here." he made a gesture with a hand to his loosely laying wings. They'd been quite itchy from the build up of old feathers. Long overdue for a plucking.

Aureole lined the feather up with the extended wing and smiled with a nod. Yup! This had been the feather's former home. "Ahh, that makes sense." Aureole normally kept a good schedule on her own preening and she found it a little odd to be doing such a thing out in the open. But then again... Maybe he didn't really care about the dropped feathers? Her father hadn't when he did his daily cleaning of his wings. "Preening? All the way out here?" She looked around, craning her head in every direction she could before turning her body to scan the area. "Suppose it's far away from others... And this is a pretty nice place." She finished situating the feather before folding her hands behind her. "Hope you don't mind, you seem to be getting rid of them anyways and never have I seen red feathers like yours!"

He gave a small shrug of his shoulders as he too scanned around them. It was quiet, secluded, and hardly anyone ever came out here. "Didn't want to stay cooped up in the Tower all day, again." he settled for answering with. But the ghoul seemed to notice the pleasantness of the place on her own.
The request for his fallen feathers was met with a curious brow raise, but hey who was he to judge. He often decorated his most prized things with them, including his precious mount. With a subtle nod of his head, he complied, glancing down at his outstretched wings. "didn't know red was so rare." Most in his clan had red, or reddish hued wings, after all.

That's right. She didn't know much about the Horseman other than that they were close to Amityville and didn't go to school. But Aureole hadn't really pressed for information or cared to. But it was nice to come along someone out here, regardless of them being immune to her shadow scares. She gave a light nod. "Totally understand that feeling. Dorms a little no close-spaced for my liking." She had enough room to stretch her wings and for her stuff but that was pretty much it. Didn't help that she had a lot of 'stuff' but she had a sort of 'organized chaos' going on in her room so it worked! "Ah, yeah! I've seen white, spotted and, well, my wings but not wings that are that pretty of a shade of red." And it wasn't that she thought her wings were pretty. She liked them all the same. She had, after all, inherited the coloring from her mother. "So..." She moved a bit and fazed through her shadow against the body of the tree and fazed in above the other, laying down with her hooves in the air. "This is the first time I've met someone outside of the school and my schoolmates. Name's Aureole." Even with having met the other, she still waved down to the other with a large grin spread across her face.

It was nice to know he wasn't the only winged individual who wasn't a fan of tight quarters with such a massive wingspan. While he could keep them tucked tightly at his sides all day, they did tend to cramp that way, and get a little stiff. The tower was nice and open but... lonely, and held no connection to the lost-like horseman.
As the little ghoul listed off her feather sightings, he too started to think about the different kinds of wings back home. Well, at his true home, way back when. There were usually darker tones, rich reds, oranges, some striped, or with a gradient like his own. Stretching one of them idly, his fingers ran over the longer ones towards the end. They were a mix of both his parents...
Torn from his thoughts, thankfully so, he looked up to watch the student move from tree to tree, not too surprised from her comment. Seemed that there was a rift between horseman and halloweeners. While his old self may have been overly cocky, and perhaps be align with the current group of stallions and mares he was housed with, now he had a different tune to sing...
"I'm Quidel. Can call me Qui, though." he replied, giving a small tip of his head to complete the introduction.
