Naledi was feeling more than a little overwhelmed being around everyone today.
Normally she enjoyed the company of the others, but today she simply felt like being on her own. She felt like she needed time to clear her head and refocus herself.
Every once in a while, Naledi became incredibly distracted from her tasks, and that would not do for someone who was expected to be a teacher to others. So, instead of sitting around and being useless, she decided to leave the pride for the day in hopes of gaining insight on her distractions.
First, she let Anansi know that she would be taking some time for herself so that she would not be missed before setting off into the rogue lands.

It wasn't too often Taji got to enjoy the rogue lands. He was one of the leaders of his pride, after all, he couldn't walk off willy-nilly like he used to. Still, every now and then he got the urge to travel, so he'd take a week or so to go roam. He'd always come back with new stories and sometimes new members to join, but it was never his intent to sway anyone to come with him. It was one of these little trips that he happened upon a female lion. She didn't seem to be traveling with anyone and, from the look of her, she didn't seem to be much younger than him. He put on a pleasant smile as he approached her, not wanting to come off too strong. "Afternoon, miss," he said with a little bob of his head. "Lovely day, isn't it?" It wasn't too hot for once, so the stroll was actually fairly enjoyable.

Deep in her thoughts, she initially ignored the feeling of someone coming toward her until she heard a voice directed to her. Looking to the approaching figure, she willed herself out of the depths of her own mind in order to communicate properly.
"Hello there," she said hesitantly, even though she no longer held fear in her heart she was still wary of strangers. Although, given that she had knowingly wandered away from her home she knew that she was bound to run into those unfamiliar to her.
"It is a nice day today," a breeze blew by gently and caused her fur to ruffle, "The heat seems to have subsided a bit." The summer was beginning to cool into the later part of the season.
"Hopefully the rains will come soon."

Taji could only nod in agreement as he settled down a few paces from her. Close enough to talk, but far enough to give her space. His pride was very well supplied in both food and water, but the river that made the border on one side of their lands was low, indicating the summer was near its end. The rains would come soon, filling it to bursting again. "I can only agree. They've never forgotten us as long as I've been alive, so it gives me hope they'll return before much longer," he said with a little chuckle. "Not much we can do but wait." Tilting his head a bit, he offered her a wide smile. "I'm Taji. I wasn't expecting to run into someone here, as it's sort of the middle of nowhere, but I'm very glad I did. What's your name?" Indeed, there wasn't much around. There weren't any prides close by that he knew of, no lakes or ponds, and only the occasional tree. It truly was the grasslands.

"That is very true," she said, "I'm definitely ready for the cooler parts of the year."
The trees that surrounded her home helped greatly to provide shade and protection from the burning sun, but the heat had lasted long enough in her option.
"My name is Naledi, nice to meet you Taji," the lioness said kindly. Despite the fact that normally she wasn't too keen on strangers, this male Taji had captured her interest. None of her internal alarms had set off to warn her about his intentions and he seemed generally alright from her initial impression of him.
"I don't live to far from here. I just needed some time to myself to clear my head, sometimes its good to be alone," she said laughing a little.

"And it's nice to meet you, Naledi," Taji said with a warm smile. As she spoke a bit more it faltered just a bit, though, as he realized he might be intruding on her solitude. "Ah, I know what that's like," he said with a sympathetic nod. "I don't want to hang around if you don't want company though. If I'm bothering you feel free to let me know and I'll continue on my way." He gave a small nod to let her know that he wouldn't take it personally if she didn't want the company of a stranger.

"Oh it's fine," she insisted shaking her head. "You're not the one that I needed a break from," she said laughing absently thinking about all of her responsibilities back home.
Naledi began to relax as she felt safe first the first time in a long time around someone outside of her home land. He wasn't aggressive and seemed nice enough to her. Besides, she couldn't help but admit that she was curious about him.
"So, where are you from if you don;t mind me asking? Have you been traveling far?" She'd never seen him before, but then again she didn't exactly wander around too often either.

"Oh good," Taji said with a grin, glad he wasn't bothering the other lion. "For a moment I thought I was about to be chased off, tooth and claw." He shook his head, shaggy mane shaking as he chuckled softly. Ah...it seemed he liked to make mountains out of mole hills. It was a good thing she didn't mind his company though. "I'm from a pride called Kwa Kikombe," he said, holding his head a bit higher. He was proud of his home, certainly, but he didn't tell her that he was one of the leaders of that pride. That always made for awkward conversation. "It's...oh...three or four days journey from here," he said with a nod. "I like to get out and stretch my legs from time to time, see the sights, meet new friends...and so far I've accomplished all three of those things.'

Naledi couldn't help but stare at him for a moment as he spoke. She liked the sound of his voice and his easy presence.
"Goodness, you're quite a distance, I'm not very inclined to wander so far from home. I only live a few hours away," the lioness said, realizing what a homebody she'd become. "Life must be quite exciting for you, sounds like a lot of adventure."
Glancing into the sky, Naledi realized how late in the day it had become and knew that she would soon be missed back home.
"Well, it was really nice meeting you Taji, unfortunately I think I need to get going. Maybe I'll run into you again someday?"

"I suppose it is," Taji said with a chuckle. If she knew he was one of the leaders of the pride it might even be more surprising, but it really was needed. Being constantly asked after and sought for required a break every now and then. He was sure if he spun it in a light of needing some peace and quiet she'd understand, as that was why she was out here as well, but it wasn't necessary. "Yes, perhaps we'll cross paths again," he said, nodding along with a smile. "It was wonderful chatting with you, Naledi, and I hope you enjoy your little vacation from home." He gave a little wave with his tail as he pressed on, wondering if he should keep going away from his pride for one more day. He was sure everything was fine back home, so one more day wandering and exploring wouldn't hurt. Big Hobbit Last one from me! Woudl you like to put them in the breeding thread or shall I?
