The Troupe From the Outside

The Story ||
The patrols raised the alarm of a new collective of creatures moving in on the boarders- just in time for the Mummer's Ball. They were met with cautious but friendly regard along the boarders. The troupe revealed themselvese as the Shusei of The Tengoku no Kuredoru pride. They were an odd bunch bearing large woven baskets on their back chock full of goods, costumes, and gifts. Word had spread of the festivities along the coastline and the performers could not resist a new audience.

After some quiet discussion, the troupe was welcomed into the lands for a night to perform for the pride.

Shandor "RiddleMouth"

The final rays of the sun bathed the sea in a golden orange, dancing like flames atop the waves behind them and painting the towering faces of the cliffs ahead of them in its light. The sand looked like a sea of gold and precious gems, the shadows had grown long and moved like exotic dancers in the light of the bonfires blazing along the beach. The ball had come once more, and every member had pushed themselves to hunt down a bounty, craft turtle shells filled of goods, and bring their best attitudes to the sands. This year the mummers danced but there was an easiness to their movements. The main entertainment was no longer on their shoulders. Some resented it but others delighted in the chance to turn their attentions to catching a particular set of eyes or browse the wares of the merchants and crafters.

Shandor settled himself down against a large, sea-polished log of driftwood. His son, Mikael, and watched as the seven performers readied their stage. A dark-pelted male limped painfully, but he carried himself with a quiet dignity as he went about his work. There was a scar that striped his front paw that bent at an uncomfortable angle. He walked on it when necessary but seemed to put much of his weight on the other. A cheetah was checking the four tall logs that the troupe had risen as the boundary of the stage while a leopard worked with a wild dog on hanging a tapered string of pelts over the stage.

"Every year gives us another surprise." He mused, "This should be interesting. It's the first time outsiders have come seeking to entertain."

Mikael "Riddlesight"

The prince snorted. "Sure enough." His eyes narrowed on the three non-lions of the group. It was the first time he had seen a wild dog, though there were rumors that one still lived within or nearby the pride itself. The cheetah was a creature he had seen from a distance. They were strange... all legs, all torso, not a scrap of muscle to be seen on them. The leopards he had seen more commonly.

He glanced to the side of the stage where a dark-maned male adjusted a green pelt to his back while another male, striped in brown and covered in spots and stripes, watched the sands in silence.

"Another outside pride. Do you think any Bahari will show for this?"

Shandor "RiddleMouth"

He shrugged. "It's hard to say. Ram does not much like outsiders. We do not know if these ones will bring fortune or ill omens. Wizard had nothing to say about them, but he did refuse to attend. I suppose he's the private sort."

The gypsy king narrowed his eyes on the group. "I do have Firedog and some of our patrons keeping an eye on the perimeter from above. At the first sign of trouble, the rocks will grow claws."

User Image Surprises really weren't Fireheart's thing. That was unfortunate, because her life had been full of them thus far. The surprise of having the title of Queen given to her, the surprise of the wandering group from last year and the antics that ensued, the surprise of being pregnant when Vodnitvar insisted he hadn't done anything, and the surprise of the cubs when they arrived not too long ago. She had thought that was going to be the last of the surprises, but now they once again had outsiders within their borders. The Mummers Ball was a time of welcoming, of course, so she couldn't get her feathers too ruffled over it, but still. You'd think they'd learn from their mistakes.

She walked slowly through those gathered, making sure everyone was happy. That didn't seem to be an issue, thankfully. Once again it was just a small handful of lions that didn't seem too pleased with the group of animals setting up the stage. Not far from where they were gathered RiddleMouth and Riddlesight observed the construction, the king with his usual practiced ease, his son with a bit more distrust. Good.

"Really, uncle?" she said as she got within earshot. She said uncle with affection but her voice, on the whole, was exasperated. "Didn't you learn your lesson the last time a group of wandering creatures came to us? I'm surprised you didn't send them fleeing with their tails between their legs."

Glancing at Riddlesight, she raised a brow as if to say 'and you let him let them in? For shame'. A lot could be said with a raised brow, after all.

---

User Image Not far behind Fireheart four little paws padded along, getting lost in the fun. Suluhu spun around, her bright eyes wide with wonder at the color and laughter and dancing that was going on. She'd never seen anything like it! Not that she'd been out of the den for very long, of course...

Realizing she'd lost her mother, she glanced around until she spotted the familiar fiery tail tuft that she loved to pounce on. She took off towards it, not bothering to slow down at all as she reached her destination. She pounced just as the tail twitched away, her momentum sending her sliding into Fireheart's hind paw.

"Ouch!' she said, rubbing her nose as she sat up. "Maaaa you hurt me!"

Shimmer Smith had been too young for the first of the Mummer's Balls, but now that she had come of age it was an opportunity for her to get involved. Nevertheless, there was an uncertainty in her steps, a lack of confidence as it were... After all, she had only recently decided on her profession and she was ever so slightly shy when it came to offering up her own wares. Frankly, she wants entirely certain she was ready, and that her wares would be worth trading!

"Now, there's a look I know all too well," the pink lioness announced with her usually flourish. While there had been doubt that the Bahari would attend, never let it be said that some of them didn't enjoy a good party and Zephyr was of no exception. With a dazzling smile and the usual spring in her step, she had crossed the borders and made her way towards the festivities.

Suffice it to say that the lioness was not about to pass up the opportunity for some shopping, and hey, she might even find someone who took her fancy. No, she wouldn't horrify her mother with an idle fling, but sometimes it didn't hurt to take a look around and see what the Kizi had to offer. That was kinda the point of their alliance...right?

Well that... and security, politics, all that boring stuff. (Yawn)

"Zephyr!" Shimmer was both surprised and delighted to see the elder lioness, though it did nothing to bring her uneasiness to a more manageable level. "Welcome to the ball, you're very early," she observed, causing the lioness to smile slyly.

"Well yes..." Zephyr conceded. "But sometimes you have to get in early to grab the best things..." she pointed out. "Plus it's so much easier to lion watch when you get a good spot," she mused.

"Ah," Shimmer replied. "Well you're in for a treat we have some foreign folk here to perform this year, we even have a wild dog."

"You don't say..." Zephyr replied with a waggle of her eyebrows.

User ImageBeing a Patron of the pride it was one of his duties to know most of what was going on. Though, he was a bit leery of the fact there was another pride they were opening their paws to. Green eyes glinted against the glowing fires and he watched as shadows moved with the dancers as they floated around the sands. However, they didn't stay there long for a the newcomers appeared from the shadows, three of which weren't lion. He watched them cautiously for a moment and then spotted his mother approaching Riddlemouth with one of the new cubs in toe. She was a curious one, that one. And she had two twin brothers as well. Triplets, seemed normal for his family though.

He walked forward and greeted RiddleMouth first, "I'm surprised we are entertaining newcomers again.." He said with a jesting smirk. He smiled and then turned to Fireheart, his mother. "Hello mother, I see one of the newest additions to the family has tagged along as well." His green gaze looked down upon the dark cub and glinted against the light. "What is your name little princess?" He said with humor in his voice as he already knew who she was. It was doubtful she would know his name as he hadn't a chance to interact with them quite yet.

User Image Nelly wasn't too far behind her brother and she had Nemmie in toe. The Hare was cautious of the newcomers and kept extremely close to Nelly and didn't stray more than a few feet if she did. Nelly was excited for this years ball. The last one had been interesting and she wondered if this one would be the same. Would any Bahari show up? She recalled her sister having eyes for one of them, or maybe she had been seeing things. She wasn't sure. Where was Hana anyway? Her gaze searched the crowd for the dark colored lioness but didn't see her yet. She was hoping she'd show up soon. However, her attention turned towards one of the cubs as Asker asked her name.

While he was busy doing that she smiled at her mother and rubbed her face against hers lovingly and then turned to RiddleMouth and Riddlesight. "Do you think tonight will have a positive outcome?" She hoped it would. She was glad none of the newcomers seemed too threatening. It eased her worry a little bit. Nemmie wasn't enjoying the festivities too much as of yet. What if some of the newcomers thought her a snack?! She definitely wasn't going to have any of that! She was going to keep close to Nelly as best as she could. Though the cub was curious to her and she inched closer to Suluhu and wriggled her nose slightly as her long ears perked forward.

User ImageAreo was glad he had stuck around for a while. Things like this NEVER happened in the pridelands. So this was something he was going to have to remember for the rest of his days. It was exciting that he not only got to see his sister but he also would get the chance to partake in something that probably didn't happen every day. He knew he was rather an outsider and not really part of this pride but his sister had welcomed him into the lands graciously and he had also gotten a chance to meet some of the other members.

His orange gaze focused in the dancing firelight and he spotted the pale lioness instantly. She was talking to a very lovely lavender colored female. The large lion moved carefully through the crowd and over to the two as they were speaking and smiled warmly as he approached the pair. "Hello Shimmer, it's wonderful to see you this evening." He said with a nod of his head. His gaze turned towards the other lioness. "We haven't had the opportunity to meet. My name is Areo." He gave her a warm smile in greeting as he gave a curt bow of his head to her as well.

Shandor "RiddleMouth"

Shandor turned his head as a familiar and welcome figure made her way across the sun-bathed sands. He smiled, though the expression was slowly becoming a weary one, and motioned to the spot beside him. Mikael shifted a little to make some room for the gypsy queen and offered a very brief dip of his head.

“Really.” He bobbed a shoulder and glanced out to the performers. “I consulted with Wizard before they were permitted in. He read the skies and found no ill omens in their arrival. For us more…inclined to caution I had Fire Dog arrange a group of our best to keep watch from above. We have patrons on alert near the borders as well.” He flicked his tail. “Besides, love, there’s no need to allow the blood on the paws of some stain the pelts of others. It may be that there is opportunity here that will benefit us.”

Mikael "Riddlesight"

Riddlesight glanced shortly to the female performer. She wasn’t too hard on the eyes but she wasn’t his type. She was more muscular than he was with a broad chest, thick arms, and an expression that hinted onto a thicker personality. He liked his females to be lean, slender, and bearing the eyes of foxes. Her markings were a little…dull for his tastes. Perhaps he had been spoiled to the scenery of his own tribe’s prospects. Colorful, exciting, painted lionesses with living colors and interesting patterns on their coats. Perhaps he’d not find prospects on the outside. Some sought that, if only to add to the future bloodlines, but he had no interest on turning his gaze away from the sea.

“I wonder how outsiders perform stories.” He mused, scratching his chin. “Seems they take a lot of time on presentation…and what a strange assortment. Dogs, leopards, cheetahs, and lions. I suppose each brings a different element to the stage.”

Shandor "RiddleMouth"

A small voice piqued his interest. Shandor turned again and shifted so he could see around Fireheart. She looked…different. The markings weren’t ones he recognized…and “mom”?

The dark eyes shifted up to find Fireheart’s. The cub looked nothing like Straw Dog and had very little resemblance to her. For a moment there was outrage as his mind picked through the possibilities and found itself resting on a potential violation of his niece from some ruffian from the border. He didn’t recall there being a third party to her romance, nor did Fire Dog seem the type to share his beloved.

“…are you alright?” he asked, his voice quiet and strangely protective.

Issakios "Farce"

A pale adolescent approached the two ladies slowly, shyly, and curiously. One he knew well enough from sight, but he had never actually spoken with her. A lovely merchant lady with interesting, compelling markings and an easy way about her. The other was definitely Bahari blood. Curled hair, thicker fur, and wider chests than those of his native-born kin.

He smiled and ducked his head. “Ladies. H-here for the show? Perhaps I might…join you in watching?”

Dog? Wild dog? He glanced to the stage and frowned. So that’s what that thing was called…he thought it must have been a lion that had suffered some horrible curse from an angry god- or got its nose and tail caught in something. Good to know.

Shimmer?

Farce turned in time to see a dark, almost deviant looking lion approach. His eyes went round and his ears fell back. He didn‘t know this one- and he didn‘t echo too strongly of Bahari either. Another outsider?

Mikael "Riddlesight"

He noted the discomfort in his sire’s posture and the sudden tension in his shoulders. Cooly, Mikael stood himself up and made room for his incoming family members. Nelly was not the first to announce her own discomfort over the newcomers. It seemed the Gypsy Queen’s line was taking their role very seriously- few trusted outsiders. They lived for the safety and contentment of the pride. It was a good quality and it seemed to be one that bred strong into the quene’s line.

“We can only hope.” He answered in his father’s stead. “We could use some excitement, regardless. It gives our pride some time to relax amongst our fellows.”

He smirked and gave Nelly a playful nudge. “Any of the exotics catching your eye? Different looking, aren’t they?”

The sudden bump against her foot made Fireheart's whole body tense, but the voice that followed made her cringe. Gods...she thought she had told them to stay put. She turned to glare at the dark cub behind her for a moment before swinging her head forward as some of her eldest children came forward as well. She greeted them in turn, ignoring the cub behind her for the time being.

"Always willing to give them that chance," she said, still exasperated but a little less irate than she had been upon discovering the 'intrusion'. The fact that he had taken into consideration things might turn sour wasn't surprising, but it was a comfort he had patrons set up on the border and to watch the party. Poor Fire Dog...she knew he enjoyed his role, but she had hoped this year he'd have the time to walk through the Ball as his siblings did. Still, she had no doubts he was keeping himself entertained.

The question made her clench her jaw, her expression clearly saying it wasn't the time to speak of how the dark cub came about. Not with the older siblings around.

"Ma. MA! I said you hurt me!" Suluhu insisted, not really in pain but wanting her mother's attention. She pawed lightly at Fireheart's striped legs, but a hard glare made her shrink back. Geez, she was grumpy tonight...maybe because she'd be told - along with her siblings - to stay in the den and sleep, that this was no place for a cub. Still! How could she ignore it? It was so loud and colorful and fun! And now she was getting lots of attention.

Sitting up straight, she grinned at RiddleMouth as he peered down at her, then a few more curious eyes followed. She looked first at Cold Fire, then to Sugar Rush. She hadn't met any of her siblings yet, although she knew she had quite a few older brothers and sisters. Cold Fire was such a perfect blend of her mother and 'father' that she knew right away they were related. Sugar Rush...well. She didn't look anything like her parents but, then again, neither did she!

"I'm Suluhu," she said happily. "Who are you? Are you my brother? Oh!"

It was then that Nemmie moved forward to investigate. Suluhu stood up, tail high in the air as she leaned forward, sniffing as well. "You're not my sibling, are you? You look kind of funny."

"Oho, and who do we have here?" Zephyr's pale eyes glimmered with unbridled curiosity as she observed Areo, glancing to Shimmer briefly. "I do hope I'm going to receive an introduction of sorts? It's not often I see any new faces," she pointed out. This was perhaps in large part down to why she was here as the Kizi seemed to attract far more visitors. Not that she didn't love home, she just appreciated a change of pace now and then!

"And this one," she added, turning her gaze towards Farce and his timid demeanour. "Ooooho don't be shy, I swear I'm largely harmless, I'm only a little bit risque when tipsy," she continued, grinning at Shimmer's flabberghasted expresison.

"You get tipsy?" Shimmer enquired incredulously before shaking her head.

"Yes, you'd do well not to inform my mother," Zephyr added sheepishly.

"Erm," Shimmer paused momentarily before motioning to Areo. "Welcome Areo, it looks like you came at a fantastic time!" she could remember her manners now and then. "This is Zephyranthes from the Bahari'mtoto," she began and then peered towards Issakios. "And this is..." she drifted into silence and then rubbed her nose out of embarrassment. "I have no idea, I'm so sorry..."

"Zephyr this is Areo, he's from the Pridelands."

"Oh I figured, he's as big as Xenon's line," the pink lioness remarks and peered at Issakios again. "You can sit with us if you like, but I want not judgements if I cat call at someone attractive, okay?"

"You're not really going to cat call, are you...?"

"You never know where the evening might take me," Zephyr replied wistfully.

At least he had consulted the Wizard before inviting them in. Though he did have to say, they weren't bad at their job. If that's what their job was anyway. "I'm please to hear that he foresaw nothing of concern." His voice trailed off as the little princess spoke up to him. "I am your brother. I am Asker, It's nice to meet you Suluhu." He said with a smile and then watched as she turned her attention to Nelly's companion Nemmie. Who he found looked an awful lot like Nema. But, stranger things had happened. While his attention had been stolen from the cub he had missed his mothers expression. It was quite possible that in the back of their minds they knew something was a miss, but since Nelly was different and they hadn't seen the rest of the cubs yet it was quite possible that they were just a fluke like her. "Is Straw Dog going to be joining us this evening?" He asked her looking around for their father.

User Image

As Nelly hadn't a chance to see any of them yet the fact that this cub was different, much like herself made her wonder if she wasn't a fluke at all! Perhaps there was some reasoning for her specific coloration after all! Unbeknownst to her that Voddy was in fact NOT the cubs father. But, since she was unaware she was in total bliss at the fact this cub was an oddball like her! She was going to turn her attention to the cub but Riddlesight gave her a nudge and smirked playfully. She really hadn't been paying THAT much attention to the newcomers. Though, the pale male with purple markings caught her eye briefly as did the black male. She raised a brow and looked at him with a, 'Did you REALLY just ask me that?' kind of look but then gave him a shy smile. "They are different-" she paused knowing well enough how she felt about being different, "but they're not bad looking. If you like that kind of thing anyway." She said with a shrug. "What about YOU. Any of them fancy enough for you." She said with a small giggle in her voice.
Nemmie turned an ear slightly towards Nelly as her and Riddlesight were talking but her focus was on the cub. "I'm a Hare. No relation at all." She said as she watched the cub stand up and sniff her. She figured she was safe enough and didn't have too much to fear from the little one. "You're very interesting looking. Much like Sugar Rush is interesting." She said noting the coloration difference of the cub. She wondered if it was the same thing that had happened with Nelly.

The female was bold and boisterous. He kind of liked that, made him think of some lions he knew back home. His attention turned towards the young male that approached and he watched with amusement as the lavender female probably made him more uncomfortable with her words. She was drawing attention to him as if he was being nervous. This made him chuckle to himself. His head cocked slightly as she said Tipsy. "Tipsy?" He asked aloud, not sure of what they were talking about. He smiled as Shimmer introduced Zephryranthes to him and he to her. "It's a pleasure to meet you Zephyr and I would love to join you guys." His attention turned towards the male that had walked up once more. "Would you like to join...?" He wasn't aware of the young males name just yet and wondered if he'd leave him hanging to be around the ladies by himself or get over his nervousness and join them.

This is my first time roleplaying Nema since she was given to me.. Forgive me if I do poorly, I'm pretty unsure what to do and rather scared of it. XD;

Nema practically bounced around as the crowd gathered. Being Lead Mummer, she had arrived early, which of course meant that Dhoru had as well. The large lion watched his mate with open amusement - he was excited for the Ball, too, but Nema's joy far outshone his own. She rattled off comments and possibly questions, really it was hard for him to tell because she spoke to quickly.
"Darling, really, you should settle down or you'll have no energy left by the time they've set up." Dhoru very much doubted that the orange-striped lioness would run out of energy, but he so enjoyed poking fun at her.
"You're right!," Nema gasped. "I should help them set up!" She smiled from ear to ear, her tail stuck up in excitement, and trotted off toward the odd troupe.
"Well, that's not what I had in mind." The large male shook his head and followed his mate with an affectionate smile. He arrived just in time to hear her introducing the two of them to the wild dog - a creature Dhoru had never seen before, and was more than a little curious about.

Just throwing it out there, Hana is available for a mate. Possibly a fling if the father promised to at least visit.

Meanwhile, Hana was just padding into camp. After hearing that security was being amped in light of the odd new arrivals, the dark lioness had offered to serve a border watch that cut close to the beginning of the ball. Being royalty and all, she should definitely attend, but she wanted to be sure she was out on surveillance as long as possible.
Upon arriving at the ball, the first thing she did was locate the strangers. Seeing that they all remained together and well visible, she turned her attention to locating her family. Some members were not in attendance, but she spotted the ones she worried for pretty quick. Nelly was with Asker and her hare, Nemmie - and also a small cub that Hana thought she recognized as one of Fireheart's new litter. Hana noted the glances her sister gave to two of the new males - one of which, a pale male with purple markings and a dark mane and tail, also gave her pause - and smiled. She wasn't sure if her sister had those feelings, but she thought it was cute nonetheless.
She padded up behind her siblings, giving Asker a soft cuff on the ear and flicking Nelly with her tail. After a brief nod to Mikael, whom she didn't have much interaction with, she bent down and smiled at the cub."And who's this pretty young thing?"

Anyone can come talk to Paranoia if they'd like! She needs some new friends that can be gentle and handle her irrational fears, and coax her out of her shell a little.

Paranoia was lying in a nearby outcrop of rock. While she may have appeared to the outsiders as one of the Patrons keeping watch over the festivities, she was actually just hiding. The black lioness had gotten pretty close to the ball before her nerves got the better of her. And so she lie there, watching the pride interact with each other and watch the gang of outsiders putting together.. whatever they were assembling. It seemed no one had actually approached any of them yet, however, and she wasn't about to be the first - however interesting they were.

Being in the pride had started to have an affect on her. The timid lioness was starting to actually want company; she was just too afraid to seek it out. Old habits die hard, after all. Fidgeting in her safety zone, Paranoia waited for her courage to return. At the very least, she could find someone she knew and stick with them until she needed to leave. Secretly, she hoped someone would see her and initiate contact, since her courage wasn't likely to come back anytime soon.

User ImageOOC: Asker is looking for a mate as well. *hint hint*
Green eyes watched as a familiar pair came into view, it was his uncle Dhoru and his mate Nema. Both of which he was very fond of. He knew Nelly would be very pleased once she saw them as well. They seemed to be interested in the newcomers and he watched as Nema walked over towards the wild dog and started speaking to her. Satisfied nothing of concern was going on over there he formed a grin upon his features when someone cuffed his ear. His head turned to gaze over at Hana and he watched as she inquired about the cub. "THAT, dear sister is Suluhu. It seems to be that she didn't want to stay with the rest of her siblings in the den." Which amused him. She was going to be a handful, that one.

He wondered if he would ever find someone to settle down and have cubs with. As of right now, not many had caught his eye. Though he hadn't really taken a look around to see who was about. Perhaps he'd try his luck a little and toss out a line and see what he caught. There were a few Bahari's here tonight, one particular female with lavender fur was with Shimmer Smith. He didn't know either of them very well but he was aware they were acquainted. There was that pridelander with them as well. He didn't know him though he was aware that he was visiting his sister here. He wouldn't have pegged them as being related, but then again. Vanellope looked nothing like them, and apparently neither did the newest cubs. "I think I'm going to go mingle myself as well." He said taking his leave from the others and walked towards Areo, Zephyr, Shimmer and Farce. "Greetings, this evening." He said to the three he knew well enough. His gaze then turned to Areo. "You're Misty Starlights brother are you not?"

User ImageWhen someone flicked her she turned to see Hana and instantly smiled brightly at her and nudged her shoulder with her cheek lovingly. "I'm pleased you've finally come to join us." She said happily and then she looked around to see who else had arrived. A familiar duo instantly stuck out and she felt herself get antsy. It was Aunt Nema and Uncle Dhoru! She'd have to make a note to go say high here shortly. Dark gaze flicked over to the entertainers once more and she figured she'd go say hello. At least she could use her Aunt and Uncle as an excuse to go over there. "I'm going to go say hello to Uncle Dhoru and Aunt Nema!" She said to those that she had been keeping company with her presence. She looked down at Nemmie and then her little sister. "I'm sure you'll be fine with Suluhu. If you want to stay over here that is." She said to her. Pale eyes flicked upwards as her head turned to look at Nelly as she said she was going to go say hello. She gazed towards the fire and then shook her head. She didn't know those new comers, she didn't feel all that safe going over there. Plus she kind of liked Suluhu and wanted to investigate her a little more. "Okay.... Just don't go to far." She said a little nervously as she watched Nelly head over to say hello.

She knew nemmie would be fine where she was and she gave a smile and a nod of her head to the rest and padded over towards her relatives. "Uncle Dhoru! Aunt Nema!" She said happily as she approached. "I'm so glad you guys are here." She truly adored them the most out of her relatives, baring her siblings of course. Her attention then turned to the newcomers she was rather close to now. "Hello." She said softly, to none of them in particular, wondering what they were like.

User Image As Areo glanced around he realized that one of the larger males in the pride was walking this way. He didn't seem hostile and he actually wanted to get to know more of the members here as he was hoping to come back in the future. Perhaps even with their mother. He was sure Emera would be glad to see her. His gaze flicked away from the approaching male and back to the three that were currently before him. "Is this something that happens often around here?" He asked, inquiring about the festivities. It was all so new to him and he found it very exciting. His attention however was stolen when the blue male with the golden mane approached and spoke.

"Yes, that I am." He said with a smile and a nod of his head. "It was actually by chance that I found out she was here." He wasn't sure how they reached about seers so he kept that part to himself. He wondered a few things about this pride. Some of the members seemed antsy, or at least semi-worried almost and he wondered why that was. He wasn't familiar with the prides history or anything so this was all foreign to him. Still he was very much enjoying himself thus far.

For now, she seemed to have largely spooked the younger lion into silence and thought it best she give him a moment to regroup. She was please, at least, to see that the others had been welcoming to Farce as well. Perhaps when he had overcome his initial shock (she had that effect on some), he might embrace their invitation and take a moment to join them. If anything, she could do with more sporting company even if it gasped at her in shock!

"Ah yes, tipsy," she waved her paw thoughtfully and glanced around for a merchant or two that might have been providing the fermented fruits that caused such sensations. Unfortunately, she hadn't laid eyes on any of them just yet. "It's a rather unique feeling, leaves your mind wonderfully foggy and your inhibitions are thrown to the wind!"

"But a lack of inhibitions can lead to mistakes," Shimmer pointed out warningly to Zephyr and then smiled at Areo. "Ah, yes - it happens annually. It's a good chance to mingle and meet those you've never met," she paused and offered a small smile to Asker as he closed the distance between them. "And it's a very good opportunity for outsiders to get involved in the festivities, the rogue lands can feel very empty and quiet in comparison to some of the prides that lie on its borders."

"Ooooh I know you," Zephyr spoke up as she caught sight of Asker and allowed Shimmer to explain the festivities to the Pridelander. "You're one of those royal boys, aren't you?" she mused thoughtfully and tapped at her cheek with her paw. "I didn't see much of your folk while I was here on my sabbatical..."

Dhoru and Nema looked around as a familiar voice called out their names. Nema pouted a bit - the wild dog hadn't even had a chance to respond! - but was immediately re-perked when she laid eyes on Nelly. The shy, outcast young lioness had been a soft spot in Nema's heart ever since she was a cub.
"Hey, there, Sweetness." Dhoru responded. "Come over to help us greet our guests?"
As she reached the pair, Nema gently butted her head against Nelly's shoulder. "You're just in time! We were just getting to know- um.. You know we never got that far." She turned back to the wild dog with an expectant smile.

Hana watched her sister trot toward Dhoru and Nema, and debated following; however, she didn't attend these things to meet people she already knew. That decided, she caught her uncle's eye and blinked affectionately before heading off after her brother. She recognized everyone in the group; there was Shimmer, but the dark lion and the purple lioness were creatures she had only seen, not met. One was distinctly Bahari, but the other wasn't from around these parts. She padded up just in time to hear Asker called a "royal boy" and stifled a giggle. It just sounded so childish, and she couldn't help but imagine Asker as a cub, with his chest all puffed out. Her eyes shone with laughter as she bumped her hip against her brother's.
"Yup, that's Asker all right. Royal boy, through and through." She shot her brother a wry grin before turning her attention to the lioness. "I'm Hana. You came to last year's ball, didn't you? I remember seeing you."

Shandor "RiddleMouth"

”We were not once gadje ourselves?” He countered gently. “Travelers with no homeland, vagabonds, rejects. Few of us actually boast any sort of lineage to nobility, but we‘ve made our own kingdom that all the kings and queens of the world will never match.” he jerked his chin towards the stage. “Gypsy gold. A good story, a heartbreaking song, and hospitality. Someone spit in our pot- and we saw them dealt with. If it happens a second time, it will be twice as terrible. Let us be known to be twice as good to our friends and four times bad to our foes.”

He followed her expression and narrowed his dark eyes. He said nothing, but his expression was clear enough. This conversation was just beginning. If someone had touched his family, that someone would be eternally regretful of their actions.

Relenting, for the moment, he turned his attention to the small cub at her feet. Definitely not one of theirs… he could pinpoint telltale markings and colors to any of his own flock but this one was beyond any recognition.

“A spirited little gypsy I must say. Firey. This should be your first performance. You should watch well- every story has something to offer. Some take one thing away, others take another.”

Mikael "Riddlesight"

Riddlesight didn’t seem as convinced as Cold Fire was. Wizard hadn’t foreseen anything troubling but he still refused to attend. That along had his fur hackling slightly. Why would the seer decide against the pride’s biggest gathering? Perhaps it was the nature of his own strange arrival. He was massive for a lion and covered with scars. He spoke nothing of his past and Riddlemouth had insisted that he not be pressed. Every lion buried some bones somewhere, or so Shandor had said.

“Might as well enjoy the show.” Riddle said with a glance to the stage. It seemed they were ready to begin.

“If they try something, the crowd alone is enough to make them regret that decision…and don’t eat anything unless you see them eat it first.”

Mikael straightened up as Blood on the Water approached and offered her a short nod of his own in turn. The majority of his aunt’s family had gathered- a good thing. They were strong fighters and capable of keeping the pride’s morale up. The rest of the pride would find peace in their attending.

Issakios "Farce"

He smiled and took a slow step back as the two lionesses began to converse with the newcomer. So he was known to them, that was encouraging at least. A friend to a pride member was almost as good as a friend-of-a-friend, right? If they could trust him…

He glanced nervously to the larger male and shifted a little on his paws. When introductions began to roll around he perked, then let his ears droop a little. Right. His name. How rude. “I’m…sorry, it’s Farce.” He offered a weak smile. His mother was a dreamer, which may or may not have been a welcome bit of information to this particular crowd, and his father was a god. Laugher- but few would guess it from his son’s demeanor. Most of his siblings had already chosen to become dreamers, lost in a haze of endless laughter and child-like bliss but Farce clung to reason. His love of entertainment, however, remained as strong as the others.

“…c…cat call?” He glanced between the two lionesses, as if missing something.

He shrank back into his shoulders as the dark male approached him and forced a dim smile at the question. “Y-yes of course. Any show is better with company.”
