It Begins
Lock was going to take any chance to go to the human world that he could. He had never been, and as such he wanted to get as much experience with it as possible. He had been to the sahara with the horseman tower, to the depths of wonderland, but never just a normal human world investigation trip. The small voice in his brain told him that this would be an important opportunity for observation. Observing the enemy was the way to learn their weaknesses.
... Plus the bonus credit was good for a boil trying to graduate on time.
On the appointed day, Lock showed up 15 minutes early (jack forbid he ever be late to something). The professor handed him paperwork and Lock looked over each piece carefully. His father had always warned him of the dangers of demonic contracts, and even though the teacher insisted they weren't, Lock was suspicious. Maybe unhealthily paranoid.
The papers seemed docile enough (the usual waiver of liability) and he signed.
These "superstitions" sounded useful, from a Halloween perspective. Small things to scare humans were just as usual as huge gestures of fear. The fact that they were going to Halloween to investigate such things was relieving to him, actually. All he had to do was watch for some "superstitions" and then he could have the rest of the time to investigate questions of his owns. Things like how many teeth did the humans have, how did they move and what killed them fastest. When he brought up that last point, he was given disapproving looks. Sooo maybe that one was off the table.
