Svana yawned mightily, her dark mane-tuft falling into her eyes. With a snort she tossed her head to dislodge it before blinking sleepily. Raising gracefully to her feet she stretched languidly, lean body stretching as her chest dipped to the ground, forelegs stretching out before her, claws extending to gouge short furrows in the rain-damp earth. Straightening once again she shook her head, dislodging the last of the sleep from her mind.
The newly-titled captain looked round, counting the bodies scattered near by. Several of her reavers.. -pausing a moment she had to savour the thought, her reavers- lay nearby resting or napping. Rook was laying beside a large boulder his solid blackness merging with the rock’s shadow, his dark head was up and he was awake, a fact she knew only because his gaze was on her, and that small but bright green mark at the top of his nose was visible. Rook was one of her newest reavers, acquired directly before she had gone to the Warlord for her title. He was an unusual lion, silent as the grave, given to coming and going without being noticed. In the dark he could move completely without detection thanks to his utterly black coat. She had never known a lion to be as dark as he was… Even in bright sun his fur seemed to swallow the light, as if even the sun was afraid to reveal him fully. But he was a hard worker and never caused her any trouble. She trusted him completely. Turning her head the other way she studied the sleeping brown wing-marked male near by. Fenrir was the son of her former Captain, and a good, solid reaver. He had been the other freeborn with her on her first viking, though he was older than she was. He was a good friend thought and she was glad he hadn’t yet considered trying for his own Captaincy. She would hate to loose him from her band. She caught sight of Asher, an outlander who had nevertheless settled well into the viking way of life. The oldest lion in her band by quite some way he was still considered relatively young in the pride, being in the prime of his years. He was a strong and steady male, not at all prone to rashness, and his years as a rogue had given him a different perspective on the world than she possessed.
After a moment she resumed her searching gaze, seeking one particular male. Her brother. Kakale was no where to be seen, but that wasn’t entirely unusual. After all they weren’t joined at the hip. He must be off getting a meal or sparring. Wrinkling her nose she huffed. He could have woke her up and asked her to go along with him. But then… maybe he was courting a female? Grinning she made a note to herself to investigate. Hat would be fun to tease him about! Her own stomach rumbled and she smirked. Time to eat and then maybe she would go track down her sibling.

Torolf was restless. The pride had had it battles and Torolf had come out as the champion of all the freeborns. It was almost humours, Torolf had joined the competition to support for his mate, who was joining because of her mother. Torolf had never thought he would enjoy the battles, or would even be any of good at it. Now the grey and blue male was thinking he really was meant to be a Reaver. It was funny in away his mate was the opposite of her mother and he was the opposite of his.
The problem with wanting to be a Reaver was that he needed to find a captain who was willing to have him as a part of their band. That was the mission for Torolf today he needed to find someone who wanted him. He knew he could do well and he hoped that his abilities in the pride competitions would be enough to sell him as a good potential Reaver. Tanakako Sorry for the long wait, life swallowed me whole for awhile. I will do what I can to make sure he is ready to go when this rp is over (he only needs one other).

Having made her way to the comunial food store -a place Svana didn't like to use but would if she was hungry enough, like this morning- she ate her fill of a gizelle and had taken a drink of the small stream near by. Fully awake and itching to do something, she started walking.
It felt weird... to have attained her dream of being a Captain. Every day since she had been a cub she had plotted and planned, exercised and sparred, all with that one goal in mind. She had sought out other young lions, bolding telling them to join her even though at the time she had been a young adolescent reaver, still inexperienced compaired to the older reavers. She had been laughed at, rebuffed or sometimes even ignored. But she had won herself her band, paw-picked from those she considered most suitable. At the time of her approval by the Warlord she had a band of reavers bigger than some of the established groups. Something she took great pride in, and so far not a single one had let her down. They were a close-knit team and worked well together. And with her borther at her side they were pretty much invincable.
But right now, she had nothing to do. No planning for a captaincy, her reavers were all resting from their last Viking. They had killed and feasted and even scored a large supply of that tasty elephant fruit that fermented so well. It was a new and strange problem for her. Free time.
Lifting her head from her musings she spotted a blue and grey male walking towards her. She recognised him from the Games the Warlord had held recently. "Torolf!" She called, hoping to gain his attention and kill her unexpected bordem at the same time.
Svana herself had lost in the second round of the Reaver and Captain level battles to a male named Bousvor. But considering her first match had been against a large and powerful lioness far older and more experienced than Svana herself, and Bousvor had been an even larger and more powerful Captain, she hadn't been too disapointed. Since she had been considerably smaller and lighter than both of her opponants.
nessiaing I'll check and post them in the breeding approval thread if they aren't there yet. Is he on the new memberlist?

Torolf's head snapped up at the call of his name. He looked quickly towards the female who had called to him. He recognized he immediately as one of the newest captains in the pride. He swallowed hard suddenly feeling butterflies doing summersaults in his stomach. He wasn't sure why he was nervous this was exactly what he had wanted and captain to speak to.
"Yes." he said to her simply, turning towards her he began to pad over to where she stood. He really wasn't sure what he should say or do so instead he ended up just standing before her awkwardly. He may have learned that he was a good fighter but something that was still evident was that he had very little abilities in terms of social interaction.

Svana matched the young male's pace, stopping as he walked up to her. Grinning at the mingled look of confusion and embarrassment on his face she chuckled. "It is a good day to die." She greeted him, pale eyes skimming over him, wondering just why he was so nervous.
"Where you off towards the training ground?" She asked. Though not because he had been headed that way, but more as a conversation starter. She got the feeling he wasn't yet capable of doing it himself, not for a minute or so anyway.

Torolf let a little sigh out as he tried to relax himself standing before the newly appointed captain. "It is a good day to die." he responded taking the easiest route in terms of a response. It was nice to have a standard greeting that allowed the duo to get past the awkwardness of starting a conversation.
Torolf was even more relieved when she asked him about the training grounds. He looked over his shoulder in the direction of the training ground, it was feasible that he may have been heading that way but in truth he was not.
"I was actually looking for a captain to speak to." he told her trying to keep his voice strong and confident. "I want to become a Reaver." there it was out there now he had declared his intent. He braced himself for laughter that might be coming his way.

One brow rose as the young male spoke. Well, he certainly didn't beat about the bush, coming right out with it and not bothering with a lead up. Nodding slowly she couldn;t help her wide, amused grin. But it was not laughter, nor was it derogative. No, his boldness amused her, and Svana was nothing if not bold herself, having risen up through the ranks at so young an age, she had been out on vikings as an adolescent, confirmed as a reaver before her majority and then moving up to Captain with all due speed. Already a seasoned fighter she admired the same qualities in others.
"Well." She replied, her smile still in evidence, gaze bright. "You found one." pausing she looked him over. "What kind of training have you been doing?" She could certainly help this one go out on a viking, but like her mentor before her, she didn't want to just throw a novice out into the roguelands to get hurt. If he needed training before going out, she was willing to help him. After all, she had studied under many lions before going out on her first raid.

The male worked to keep his breath steady, he was excited that the captain was even willing to speak to him, much less talk about his training. He remained silent for a moment choosing his words carefully. "Well I fought in the matches, and won. It would seem I have natural talent, or at least that is what I have been told." he kept his voice strong, usually he would have been modest about it all however modesty wasn't a trait valued in the Stormborn.
"Since the matches I have, been going to the training arena every day. I try to duel with someone new every day." he wasn't really sure if it was the right thing to be doing but he figured if he fought with someone else everyday he would be able to learn new techniques and ways of doing things. After all you could only learn so much from one lion, and the way lions duelled in the pride could quite possibly be very different from how rogue lions might fight.

She listened as he spoke, pale gaze remaining fixed on him with a calculating expression. After a moment she nodded, as if to some inner thought. "Sparring with random lions is a good enough start, I suppose. But we need to get you working with some veterans, and a few of the Outlander reavers would help." Padding to the side she slowly circled him, examining him from all angles before ending up back in front of him.
"Very well. No point in wasting any more time. I'm taking my band on a Viking at the next full moon, it will be our first night time raid. We will see if you will be fit to join us." Turning she set off along the track that headed towards the sparring ground. Glancing over her shoulder as she strode away, her slim but muscular body moving with easy power. "Come along then."

Torolf felt his jaw hanging, he quickly closed it his eyes large and surprised. He had been expecting to have to speak to a number of captains before he found the one that would be willing to take him on. He moved quickly and to follow the captain, choosing not to say anymore.
His mind was racing he was trying to figure out how this all worked, the next full moon wasn't that far away, he was nervous that a night time raid would be a hard one for his first. He pushed all the thoughts away, deciding in stead he would talk to Momma Anika tonight he was sure she would have some good advice. For now all he had to do was follow his new captain and do everything she told him to.
