xxxASTRONOMY ~ EExxx
- ■ Aldrick did decently on his Astronomy OWL. He had studied hard to learn the stars and skies when gazing, he could surely impress some younger girl with his upper year knowledge of the stars. With this in mind, he studied in advance for the practical portion, and knew just enough to scrape by with his written portion. However, he knew that he didn’t need to try too hard with Astronomy. He didn’t need to be perfect, he wouldn’t need it next year.
xxxCHARMS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Aldrick was always pretty good with charms, both spells and the ones used towards the ladies. He particularly enjoyed using lumos to light dark corridors, and throwing colorful sparks to make things shine a little differently. He managed to get an O in the class, and was thankful that his charms still seemed to be intact.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ EExxx
- ■ Defending those you loved, against anything that came your way. That was Aldrick’s motto as he studied for his defense exams. He needed to pass the class, not only for his future career, but also to have the skill to save those he loved if the time ever came to that. While Aldrick flubbed some of the written portion of the exam, he did great on the practical portion.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ Dxxx
- ■ Aldrick always hated herbology, before Hogwarts, and even during his time at Hogwarts. Oh, the plant wasn’t clearly labeled? He didn’t know the difference between that one green thing and the other green thing, it wasn’t important. No matter how many times August tried explaining the different plants of herbology, the only thing Aldrick could get from them was something like “Oh, that’s the plant that screams. Might kill you.” He did dreadful, and thankfully didn’t really want or need to pass Herbology for a decent career.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ Oxxx
- ■ History was Aldrick’s favorite subject, so he clung to every word and every timeline there was to learn. When it came to the OWL he didn’t worry about using August or impressing anyone, History was where Aldrick thrived at, and his written exam showed that.
xxxPOTIONS ~ EExxx
- ■ Aldrick hated herbology? He hated potions almost as much. If the potion ingredients weren’t labeled, he easily mixed up that powder and that other powder, and often had a few cauldrons explode. Thankfully, He had his rivalry with August, but also a friendship. August tutored Aldrick during their little amount of spare time, and while his brewing didn’t get much better, he did manage to get the lowest score possible to get an Exceeds expectations, and boy, did that grade exceed Aldrick’s expectations. He would have to get August a new book or something.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ Oxxx
- ■ There were no plants in Transfiguration, this one Aldrick could do with ease. He did great on the written portion, and even better in the practical portion. It was always convenient to be able to turn an object into a bouquet of flowers, of course he needed to be great at it.
xxxE L E C T I V E Sxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxANCIENT RUNES ~ Oxxx
- ■ Surely there would be a better way to impress a lady, than by using an ancient language. Perhaps, if one knew the runes though, one could make an exceptional pendant or something to protect a lady, or could figure out if something was going to blow up before it hurt someone. Aldrick studied hard for his Ancient Runes exam, taking special notice to what August had written down in his notes, and making sure Aldrick knew more than August in the subject matter before the exam. Overall, an outstanding was achieved by Aldrick.
xxxALCHEMY ~ EExxx
- ■ Alchemy was GREAT. Aldrick had thought they would do more things with the practical portion, but there was a lot of history involved with the learning of Alchemy. Aldrick did Outstanding on the written portion with all the history, but slipped up in the practical portion when casting the spells.
xxxARITHMANCY ~ Oxxx
- ■ Arithmancy was logic, how likely it was something would happen, everything was all in the numbers. This made sense. However, when coming to a wizarding school, Aldrick didn’t know why he would use Arithmancy. He would have slacked off in the course, but of course there August was, pushing him to be better. Aldrick slid by with an O, maybe ever out passing August this time? One could only hope.
xxxCURSE BREAKING ~ EExxx
- ■ After taking the elective, Aldrick changed his mind for what he wanted to do as an adult. Who needed to be a teacher when they could be a curse breaker? Getting to travel AND protect those he loved, a great career path. Aldrick put effort into studying, and trying his, almost, hardest. Of course, he also didn’t have that silly August in his class, pushing him to be his best, so he simply got as far as he needed to in order to pass the class and continue on in the course.
xxxWANDLESS MAGIC ~ EExxx
- ■ Aldrick thought it would be cool to not have to use a wand to cast spells, more impressive. Unfortunately, there was a lot of theory behind that, and Aldrick slacked during the first two years. Finally though, their OWL year they worked on spells. Aldrick fell in love with Wandless, and reviewed his previous notes for the course, he had the need to pass the OWL to continue on, because the thrill of not having to use a wand. He did great at the practical, and pretty decent from cramming for the written portion.
xxxWANDLORE STUDIES ~ Axxx
- ■ Aldrick enrolled in Wandlore studies with the hope of learning all the history behind wands. He quickly learned that was not the case. He should have dropped the course after the first year, but he kept striving through, maybe a later year would be history? After three years of the course, Aldrick had no hope. He scraped by with passing, but he for sure was never taking that class again.
xxxWIZARD LAW ~ Oxxx
- ■ Wizarding Law was complex, but necessary to have a vague sense of where one could and could not go in the world, where it may be illegal for one to take a woman for an exceptional night for example. Aldrick wasn’t fond of the subject, but he HAD to do better than August in the subject. He took to studying when August did, and studying a bit more after that. Aldrick just barely got an outstanding, but thankfully it was an O.
Potential Petition for higher than Average Grades:
Aldrick has been known to be very competitive, and his number one rival is August Li. He is fueled by trying to be better than August, but also will turn to August if he needs help. With the exception of Herbology, which is just dreadful, and Wandlore, which was a useless class for Aldrick to be in, he didn't care. Aldrick would draw diagrams frequently in his notes to better understand theories, and would compare his notes to August's notes, using whatever resource he could to achieve more than August.
