.: Custom Techniques :.
This is the Sixth Version of the Customs Page. This is only for Custom Abilities achieved at the proper Stat intervals which are determined by your Character's Class. If you have any questions about Customs please post them in the Questions Thread rather than here, you can also take it to the OOC or even PM one of the Moderators. If you feel your Customs are not being looked at in a timely manner [3 Days IRL] please politely inform one of the Moderators of the Guild and they should be able to assist you.
.: Basic Customs Info :.
- Low Level Techniques cannot affect Characters outside of the Area which your Character is in.
- The excuse, "Why cant I get this? Someone else has it," will never honestly work. Customs are determined on a case to case basis and what works for some people may not work for others.
- There are no absolutes. Everything must have some sort of limit on power or ability. Limits come in many forms but you have to limit your ability in some way.
- Almost all techniques which have an effect on your character or someone else's character in battle will need a Cost and a Resistance. There are rare exceptions but if you dont want to waste time arguing give it a cost.
- Just because you have two approvals doesn't mean that a Custom cant be revoked. If two or more Mods have a serious issue with the way a Custom is being used it can be put back on Pending and the owner will have to rework the Custom.
- The max increase for anything is a +200. It is possible to get past this through combos but in terms of pure increase +200 is the highest you can go.
- Reiatsu cannot determine the power of a Custom, in some cases it can limit the number of uses but as far as determining attack power or defensive power Reiatsu shouldn't be used.
- Rules are subject to change.

.: General Rules :.
.: Custom Slots and Boosts :.
Every character, by default, gains a custom technique slot every 25 reiatsu. It may be used to create any (within reason) ability that your character might be able to use or have. These techniques may apply a boost to the user's stats (or penalty to the opponent) when in use but the amount of how much is restricted by the technique's 'level'. Every custom technique's 'level' is equal to the amount of reiatsu that was needed to unlock that particular slot. The adjustment permitted by any given technique by level is as follows:

.: Custom Fighting Styles :.
Fighting Styles are personal form techniques that can improve your offenses, defenses, or both at once. They will apply their own boost to your performance after all other calculations and do so regardless of the stat actually determining the effectiveness of your offensive/defensive abilities as well, always being useful to you. All fighting Styles can be created with only a Lv.25 custom technique but will not apply its bonus until the character has reached 100 reiatsu. The bonus provided shall improve every 100 reiatsu thereafter before capping out at 1,000 reiatsu. You must choose from one of the following types of Fighting Style and may only have a single Fighting Style per character.
Quote:
Offensive Style: An offensive style of martial arts is one that allows the user to focus all of their energies into their attacks, be it what ever means. Users of Offensive Martial Arts style gain +5 power to offensive actions they take during fights. This bonus increases by +5 each time the style improves (Cap of +50).
Defensive Style: A defensive style of martial arts is one that allows the user to focus their energies into their defenses, be it what every means. Users of Defense Martial Arts gain +5 power to defensive actions they take during fights. This bonus increases by +5 each time the style improves (Cap of +50).
Healing Style: A form of fighting style that revolves around more of a knowledge on the anatomy and how to repair damage. It has nothing to really do with fighting per say outside of actually fixing the damage from it. Most combat medics train in this doctrine. This bonus increases by +5 each time the style improves (Cap of +50).
Mixed Style: A mixed style of martial arts is one that allows the user to focus on both offense and defense in a fight, while never master either of them. Users of the Mixed Martial Arts style gain +2 and +3 power to offensive and defensive actions (Chosen at creation of FS; and can not be changed). These bonuses increase by +2 and +3 each time the style improves (Cap of +20 and +30)
Defensive Style: A defensive style of martial arts is one that allows the user to focus their energies into their defenses, be it what every means. Users of Defense Martial Arts gain +5 power to defensive actions they take during fights. This bonus increases by +5 each time the style improves (Cap of +50).

.: Traps :.
Traps are a classification of techniques that involves setting up attacks, defenses, or effects during a fight without the opponent noticing, to be triggered by surprise at an opportune time. Traps may be created with any level of custom technique, but there are a few universal rules regarding their use, detection, and avoidance.
Quote:
Damage: Damage is determined by Strength for any physical effect and by Spiritual Power for energy effects.
Costs: Each post a trap is maintained (undeteccted or triggered) costs 1/2 of the technique's activation cost each post or be rendered inactive.
Limits: You may never have more than 6 traps actively set at one time.
Preparation: Each time a Trap is set up (ability is used) the user assigns it a number from 1-8 and multiple Traps may not share a number.
Trigger Vs Detection: Any time the opponent attacks the user of the trap, they must roll a D8 in their post. If the result matches the assigned number of any readied traps set, then it is either Detected or Triggered. If the opponent's Clarity is less than the user's Intelligence, they trigger the Trap. If their Clarity is higher, they detect the Trap instead and it is considered nullified.
Results: If a Trap is triggered, then it may not be avoided or specially blocked as it will be treated as a direct hit on the opponent.
Clones/Afterimages: These type of techniques are treated as Trap type techniques for classification, comparisons and usage.

.: Pets, Servants, and Summons :.
Using a custom of the appropriate level, you can create a personal NPC of sorts that is linked to your character. Close friends, bound creatures, allies, relatives, magically conjured monstrosities, etc are all things that might fall under this category. Making especially effective Summons will require multiple custom slots to provide them some abilities and the very act of creating one at all will result in a small loss of reiatsu to the character creating them. Only one Summon may be created per custom slot and they will not have their own custom techniques under normal conditions. The rest of the rules are as follows:
Quote:
Level 125: Creation of a Summon that has 1/2 of the characters own reiatsu, distributed as desired upon creation. This will cost 5 points of reiatsu to create.
Level 250: Creation of a Summon that has the same reiatsu as the character, distributed as desired upon creation. This will cost 10 points of reiatsu to create.
- Additions to the Summon::
Level 100: This will allow you to grant your summons a Base Class of choice, giving them all of the standard perks and access to Guild Techniques that a member of that class should have (free stat kill bonuses are not gained however)
Level 200: This will allow you to grant your summons an Upgraded Class of choice, giving them all of the standard perks and access to Guild Techniques that a member of that class should have (Hollow can't be given a class over Gillian)
Level 500: Summon will be granted the ability to have 1 custom technique of their own for every 100 reiatsu they possess. This will cost 15 points of reiatsu to create.
Note: Any given Summon may roleplay away from their master and even in different areas or dimensions if they can properly travel there by some means, but any and all words typed by the Summon while on their own are done without the interaction bonus their owner would normally gain.
.: New Stats :.
When making some techniques with a hybrid base, such as physical and spiritual, you can base their power or effectiveness upon two different stats at once. This can help to justify certain effects or getting a particular stat to contribute to a given task that it normally couldn't under other circumstances. When using 2 different stats to create an attack, defense, or effect/comparison, you add half of their current values together to create the 'new stat'. Effectively you use the average value of the two numbers when determining the effectiveness of that particular ability. This is typically a lv. 100 custom or ability.
Exception: There are none.
Please use the template below when making a request for a custom. If you do not use the template below, it will simply take longer for your technique to get approved.

Add your Approval or Denial icon to the #1 or #2 and comment on why it was denied (if it was). Whichever mods gives the second approval, please click Edit on the post, then click Submit. Once Gaia loads and you are looking at the post again, copy the URL of the page and add the following to their profile:
Technique Name (# Stat)
Or this one if you don't want to keep deleting the stuff:
()
Where it says LINK, replace it with the URL you copied. Then add the Technique Name and which stat was used for it. This will take up less space in someone's profile, and they can see the exact description of the technique.
Afterwards, return to the post for the custom and add this underneath the approvals:
Added to profile? YES
Edit 10-3-08 by Rock Ballad: The customs form has been edited to include the Approvals/Denials box and the "Added to Profile" box.
