xxxASTRONOMY ~ Axxx
- ■ Kendall wasn't bad at this class exactly, but he definitely tended to fall asleep, so he didn't quite remember things as well as he ought to've. He wasn't overly worried about it, either, since his future plans didn't involve needing to know much of anything about the stars, whatever he ended up doing. So, he might've slacked off a bit. It's a good thing he has a decent memory, or he might've failed this completely.
xxxCHARMS ~ EExxx
- ■ Kendall's not good at charmwork, really, but he worked his arse off to do well on this exam. There were a lot of setbacks and frustrating moments when practicing his wandwork, but his memory kept him on the right track and his tenacity ensured that he was able to earn a (low) EE.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ Axxx
- ■ Kendall wanted to be better at this class. But unfortunately, his earlier years were spent fighting with the fundamentals more than learning them. He didn't take well to being bad at it, and his poor moods didn't help. Failure was met with anger rather than focus, and so by the time he'd chilled out enough to focus, he was woefully behind. He passed out of sheer refusal to fail.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ Oxxx
- ■ Kendall liked Herbology probably the best out of his core classes. He likes animals, and magical plants are barely any different sometimes, what with their animated behavior and borderline sentience. This was one of the few areas in which he could be gentle and patient, because he didn't think the plants deserved any of his attitude. Plus, he didn't think it was fair, how many people disliked them and the class for reasons that had nothing to do with the actual plants themselves.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ EExxx
- ■ Kendall has an excellent memory, which is incredibly helpful in this course. He grew up extremely interested in the cross section between magical and muggle history, due to his paternal grandparents being muggles and the rest of his family all being magical. It was always fun to watch the rest of the family try to explain things to them. He also rather liked the professor, partially because he realized early on that the man was married to his Head of House, who he was pretty fond of. Partially just because he's a hard man to dislike, unless you're actively looking for a reason.
xxxPOTIONS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Potions was something Kendall took to rather easily. It didn't require partnering up, it didn't require talking, and he could be left to his own devices. He liked the application of his lessons in Herbology, and found the coursework interesting. Plus, he'd always liked to cook, and this was pretty similar. He found the class even easier when he got to the intermediate level courses with Professor Whitethorne, though he could never quite say why. He just knew that whenever he was in her room, everything felt more centered.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ Axxx
- ■ Kendall is, in a word, terrible at transfiguration. He tried, failed, got frustrated, and pretty quickly gave up on ever being able to do much of anything with it. He gets nervous doing anything that involves a living creature, because he can't stand the thought of messing it up. So, when he can get away with it, he skips over trying altogether. As a result, his abilities are quite limited. It's only through an almost perfect score on the written that he passed this exam at all, because he refused point blank to do the practical.

xxxALCHEMY ~ Axxx
- ■ When potionwork was involved, Kendall did quite well in this course. When wandwork was involved, it was pretty hit or miss. He wasn't terrible at it, but he certainly struggled. A poor foundation with spells did him no favors. He took the course because it seemed interesting, but determined pretty quickly that it wasn't for him.
xxxCARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES~ Oxxx
- ■ Honesty, if Kendall could have taken only this course, he might've done it. Or, only this course and a couple others that were very, very important to this course. He'd wanted to be a magizoologist his whole life, after all. His only complaint was that he specifically wanted to study aquatic creatures, and the course didn't focus on those very much. But, he figured that's what post-grad was for. In the meantime, he worked hard to do as well in his course and on the exam as possible.
xxxGHOUL AND GHOST STUDIES~ Axxx
- ■ Kendall took this course because it was, to his reasoning, tangentially connected to magical creatures. Ghosts weren't animals of any sort, of course, but they weren't exactly human so that still sort of fell under the umbrella (not that he was stupid enough to say so to one's face). Ghouls were arguably even more relevant, so he figured it was a good choice. In the end, his performance in the class was passable. He wasn't terrible by any means, but neither was he exceptional.
xxxHEALING ~ Axxx
- ■ It is only through sheer force of will that Kendall did not completely flunk this class. He took it out of practicality, because when you work with magical creatures, there are bound to be injuries, and he wanted to be prepared. However, his spellwork was only passable, and advanced forms of wandwork were a struggle for him. He has a fairly respectable baseline skill in this thanks to his stubborn nature, but he's leagues away from feeling comfortable using this magic on anyone but himself. His potionwork probably saved him, truthfully.
xxxMYTHOLOGY ~ Axxx
- ■ Kendall took this more as an actual proper elective than anything else, unlike others which were necessary for his career path. There were, he figured, a lot of myths that involved magical creatures, which was enough to draw his interest. Plus, his Head of House taught it, and he rather liked her. He admittedly didn't study quite as hard as he could have for this course since it wasn't really important that he did well. But, his memory being what it is, he was only a couple points shy of an EE.
