Thorne had been skulking around one of the cities on the main island of Faetasia. He had found himself in one of the more seedier parts. Which was interesting for such a good aligned island. Even here there were bits of darkness to be found if one just looks. While looking around at a shop the vendor pointed to a black and gold colored ball with markings on it. Ones that looked like they could be some kind of ancient writing. The vampire was intrigued by it. Drawn to it. The vendor explained that if one aligned the pieces of the ball into a certain configuration one would have such sights shown to them. This intrigued him even more. The pull to purchaee the ball was strong. When he asked how much the vendor said for him it was free and Thorne was never one to turn down free stuff. Once he touched the ball he could feel a tiny vibration on the surface which made his fingers go numb just by holding it. Eventually he found his way to a bench in a park next to a large fountain. The spray from the water making the air feel thick and heavy. But his black eyes were locked on the ball. Slowly he turned it. “Ow ********!” Pulling his hand back a small trickle of blood ran down the palm of his hand. Blood was smeared on the surface of the ball but now it looked very different from how it had just a minute ago. Well, he wasn’t seeing any soghts just yet. Hadn’t the vendor told him it took seven turns? He wasn’t sure he wanted to try for the other six if he was going to get staples in the hand every time.

Caelean was, himself, wandering the markets, turning over all sorts of interesting baubles. It was a lovely night on Faetasia, after all, and it wasn't often that he wandered the main island.
At least he didn't feel too many eyes on him. Perhaps this place was just the sort that got so many oddities, a half-feral-looking Baddie wasn't that much out of place. There were a few trinkets that caught his eye, but nothing much of substance; though he did pick up a silver ring with a wolf's head engraved in it. An amusing gift for the mate that was all too quick to call him "mutt" as a term of endearment.
"Hey, Thorne--" He turned, to look for that very mate, in time to see Thorne disappearing with something clutched in his hands. A frown turned down his mouth, and he darted after him.
He caught up, finally, in time to smell--
Blood.
(The Beast rumbled up inside him, and Caelean had to stop his own breathing for a minute, but it still didn't quite drive the scent from his nose--)
"Thorne, what the ********," he grumbled. "Leaving me behind, and what is that thing?"

Black eyes turned to Caelean as he approached. His jaw set in a hard line as he frowned. “Don’t know.” Bending down he picked up the object he turned it over in his hand. More blood had run down his arm before he had stopped bleeding. “All I did was turned this little piece here….” He turned it agin and another blade popped out, slicing his hand a second ********!” He dropped it again and it clattered to the ground. More blood running down his arm. But it quickly stopped. Thorne was grateful for his God blood. Made healing a lot easier.
The red haired vampire where the strange object. It had changed shape a second time. “Five more.” Thorne mumbled to himself. He wasn’t sure if it was the blood loss or maybe the excitement of what might happen once the object had reached this “seventh configure” as the vendor mentioned.

"Are you ******** shitting me," Caelean said, in a tone that very much indicated that he knew that Thorne was not ******** shitting him and was in fact apparently very committed to this. "It's stabbed you twice, why are you still--"
When it clattered to the ground, Caelean dove for it, with the intent to snatch it away. There was no way he was going to just...let Thorne ******** with some strange, obviously dangerous, obviously magical artifact. Not that he knew what to do with it instead, but--whatever, he'd figure something out, once Thorne was no longer repeatedly stabbing himself.
"I'm not letting you do that five more times, Thorne!" He hissed, frowning.

Thorne dove for it as well. He wasn’t just going to let Caelean take the thing. It was his after all. But he wasn’t quite quick enough and his mate had gotten to it first. Thorne scowled at him and held out his hand. Two puncture marks evident on his hand.
“Give to me, mutt. I payed for it so it is mine to do with as I wish.” Black eyes bored into the other as he stood there. Waiting for it to be returned.
“And why not? Who knows what could happen.” Now he was just getting irritated. “I swear if you don’t give it back you will regret jt.” That threat could have meant anything. Thorne could be vindictive when he wanted to be and he tended to be that way with Caelean a lot. Why the kitty stayed with him was anyne’s guess. He certainly didn’t treat him well the majority of the time.

Honestly. Sometimes Thorne was exhausting. And he wasn't exactly kind. Not in the traditional sense. But it wasn't like Caelean expected mushy bullshit form a fellow vampire--his parents certainly hadn't been soft with him, and anyway, whatever bullshit Thorne gave him, ultimately...
Getting called "mutt" every once in a while was worth it for someone who actually seemed to want him around, no matter how much Thorne verbally protested. And, anyway, Thorne was his mate, which meant that it was probably his job to not let him get hurt.
"I don't give it back and you make me regret it, I do give it back and I regret it anyway--really don't see a win for me in this situation," he said, dryly.

Thorne grumbled and cleared the distance between then quickly, grabbing for the object. “Stop being a bad dog and drop it.” If Thorne was exhausting Caelean was the same. He never let him have any fun. A stick in the mud is what he was.
Anyone with two brain cells would wonder why Thorne kept Caelean around. Why exactly they were mates in the first place. The red haired vampire was possessive and after one night together well, he would never say it but he was hooked. And maybe a little bit of insecurity. But that was neither here no there.
His fingers grazed it and another blade popped out. Cutting two small cuts into his skin. The object moved into a third configuration.
Blood began to run down his hand. Dripping onto the stone ground in bright red splotches. Luckily being a vampire meant quick healing. “I don’t know why you would regret giving it back it had nothing to do with you.”

"You can't just order me around whenever you want something," Caelean snapped. "That's not how this ******** works." Okay, it was pretty often exactly how it ******** worked, but whatever, Caelean could at least stick to his principles out loud if he wasn't sticking to them in action.
Or something.
Thorne grabbed at the device, and Caelean felt it shift, and he yelped, and it slipped from his fingers.
"s**t!"
The smell of blood was making Caelean's nose twitch. Vampiric vitae, at least, wasn't nearly as tempting as if Thorne were mortal, which was good--and this time, instead of diving after that thing, he reached out to grab Thorne's shoulders.
"Thorne. Look at me. How does it have nothing to do with me? It's hurting you already, what do you think it's gonna do when you finish it?"

“That’s exactly how this works.” It had always been that way since they met. Thorne commanded and Caelean obeyed. It was just easier to give Thorne his own way half the time or he would spend the day brooding.
Similar to a certain someone he was related to..
He could smell it. Caelean’s blood seeping into his fur as he held his shoulders. Black eyes locked on the hand in which the object had cut. Then it was gone as the wound quickly healed. For a brief moment he had clarity but it was quickly swallowed by something else. An insatiable urge. The object drew him in.
He knocked away Caelean’s hands and Ben to pick it up. “That’s what o am trying to figure out until you snatched it away.” Thorne grumbled to himself. It cut his hand again as he picked it up. “Why are you scared?” His eyes half lidded as he examined it, turning it over in his hand. Was it at five or six now?

"Thorne!" Not that snapping his mate's name was likely to have any effect at the best of times. Usually, Caelean was charmed by Thorne's stubbornness. Usually, he sort of enjoyed getting ordered around. (Okay, more than "sort of.") But this was not usually.
He shook out his injured hand when Thorne pushed him away, and growled quietly, ears pinning back and tail swishing in agitation.
"Golly ******** gee, why might I be upset that someone I--" He stopped. Hissed, softly. The rest of that sentence would be stupid of him to say out loud. Thorne would mock him for it for the rest of eternity, and he'd deserve it, for being a softhearted moron. "I just don't want you to ******** get hurt, why is that so hard for you to believe?"

The Vampire’s gazed snapped away from the object in his hand to Caelean as he almost said what a Thorne thought he was going to say. “Oh? What was that?” He put a hand up to his ear, cupping to slightly. “Someone you?” Thorne was obviously not into that soft hearted type of stuff. At least so he told himself. He had never experienced it growing up and so he shunned it. Cut it out with a knife.
He laughed but it wasn’t quite his own laugh. “Right. Because you care so much. Such a soft puppy.”
Thorne twisted a piece on the object and another blade cut his hand. It finished locking into place. And without warning a void opened up behind him. It sucked at the air and anything around it. Thorne’s re hair whipping back into it . “Caelean…” And then he was gone.
Leaving Caelean alone in front of the void. Birds and park benches were sucked into the inky depth as it screamed and wailed. Moaning and churning before the edges began to slowl shrink in on itself.

"Shut up," Caelean growled, and he was glad that his dark fur hid his cheeks, which had to be flushed from how hot his face felt. He reached up to rub at it, looking away. "Whatever. What do I care, finish your stupid--"
The instant the words were out of his mouth, he regretted them, because there was--a pull. He turned back, and felt his stomach drop.
"Thorne!" There wasn't even a moment of hesitation. He leapt for the void, hand extended, like maybe if he was just quick enough, he could catch Thorne and pull him back.

Caelean’s call was met with silence. Nothing but the rush and roaring of wind as the void continued to draw in breath from reality. The hole growing smaller and smaller by the minute.
However with his close proximity by leaping at it, Caelean was drawn into the darkness as well. The Vampire would be tossed about and spun senseless in the void. What felt like hands dragging him down, further and further into blackness. He would be unable to see. There was nothing but the darkness swirling around him.
And then all of a sudden he would wake up. Laying on a cold, dusty stone floor. Sounds of anguish and agony reaching his ears. What sounded like thousands of voices crying out in pain. Screams of torture and unrest abound. A large, wooden door was the only way out of where he had landed x it was unlocked and lead to a corridor of shifting rooms and pathways that would not be so easily navigated.
And there was still no sign of Thorne.

It was dizzying, and awful, and even when Caelean awoke, he still felt tossed around. He lay there on the cold stone for a long moment, blinking up and desperately trying to get his bearings--though after a moment, it became clear that there were not, exactly, bearings to get.
Wherever he was, he'd never been here before.
And there was screaming.
As soon as he registered hat, he shot up to his feet and staggered forward.
"Thorne!"
The cry tore itself from his chest, and he staggered throguh the door, and started down the corridor--not that he had any idea where it was leading him, which he knew was stupid. He knew that if he just kept running, he'd be lost too. But he couldn't make his heart catch up with his brain, because Thorne was here, somewhere--probably--and Caelean was going to find him, and then they would find their way home. Somehow.
Worst came to worst, maybe Thorne's father would be able to help.

The door on his right hand side rattled as he passed by it. “H-hey!” A voice called from behind the door. There was no way for Caelean to peer inside the room. The massive wooden door went from ceiling to floor and there were no cracks between the wood for him to use.
“Are you looking for that Vampire that just got dragged through here?” The sound shuffeling could be heard. “If you are here for that guy you….uh” The sounds of snickering and then insane cackling. “You might want to hurry up he’s at the bottom of the pit. I’d be surprised if he left with his skin!!!’” An eruption of laughter coming from behind all the doors down this hallway. They rattled in their frames as the booming sound of fists beating against them filled his ears.
