[/img] She had been scoping out the mansion for weeks now. Sparrow had hidden in bushes, watched the coming and going of those who lived there. Memorizing times and days that certain activities were done. It was all part of her theivery plan. Her design that she had perfected over the last few weeks. And boy was it perfect. Sparrow loved stealing. There was a rush. A thrill that when it happened it gave her the tinglies and all the bulls but I’d the world just melted away. The relief of the breath she would hold the entire time. Not that she needed to breath air. She was undead after all. Her father’s lessons coming to mind as she ran over each one in her mind quickly. Things she had learned and remembered through repetition. Most of what he taught her was best used for pick pocketing. But her favorite thing to do was to steal from the rich. Especially old, rich vampires. Quietly she had made her way inside the mansion. Keeping to the shadows like a good thief did.

Unlike Sparrow, Talyssa had not been spending nearly so much time scoping out the same mansion. In fact, she had only just arrived that very evening, though she had added it to her target list perhaps just a few days before. She was not much of a planner, more a play-it-by-ear and 'do it on the day' type. She'd had a few close encounters before, with this method, but that had only added to the thrill of it. She loved the adrenaline rush that a near escape gave. Even more when she managed to pull off the job that she had set out to do. Most of her stealthy skills she had learned from her mother, who had taught her everything she needed to know about being unseen, staying in the shadows, and striking precisely when the time was right. WhileTalithbian might have been trying to turn Talyssa into a well-trained assassin, like herself, she had inadvertently made her into something else instead. Just another thief in the night. She was on the rooftop of the mansion when the time came, hiding in the darkness with a black scarf wrapped around her face and hair, with just hints of blue and yellow peeking through. When the time was right, she scurried down a drainpipe and with amazing displays of agility and acrobatics, through an unlocked window. Something she had learned years before....not many vampires locked windows that weren't on the first floor. For some stupid reason, they never expected anyone to break in that high off the ground.

Sparrow had no clothes that kept her hidden. One didn’t need to hide your face when no one ever saw you.
Holding her breath she snuck past a few open doors that lead to rooms where it seemed they were occupied and made her way quietly up the stairs. Flattening herself against the wall as she tip toed down a hall and then another. Testing doors to see if they were locked or not. Most were unlocked so to here that meant there was nothing valuable behind it
Finally she found a locked door. Sliding out her lock picking tools the Vampire began to pick the door. He tongue jutting out from between her lips as she tried to concentrate. It was a little trickier than she had expected but Sparrow was not one to give up.

Once Talyssa was in, she scoped out the room she had landed herself in and then moved on. She moved along the hallway quickly, testing doorways and always keeping in mind exactly where her escape route would be should she get caught. Like Sparrow, she knew that it would only be the locked rooms that were worthwhile.
Finding nothing worthwhile she had moved down a floor, rounding the corner and stopping dead in her tracks before taking a rapid step (or two or three) back again. She peeked slowly around again, eyes narrowed to slits behind the wrappings that hid her face from view.
Someone was there, crouched down slightly in front of a door. The little bat-like wings atop her head fluttered in agitation as she watched. Was she...picking the lock? If so, she was taking an awfully long time of it.
Talyssa quietly dug into a pouch at her side and drew out a small stone. It wasn't much, but sometimes it worked as a distraction when she was on the verge of being caught. She threw it so that it hit the wall with a sharp thud, somewhere behind yet still near Sparrow, and then ducked back around the corner again.
Maybe that would frighten the other intruder off.

Sparrow had been so focused on her task of unlocking the door that she had almost not heard the stone but the wall. Her head swiveled in the sound’s direction, mismatched eyes blinking with only the slightest hint of alarm as she listened to see if she could hear foot steps. When she heard none she shrugged and went back to picking the lock.
“Come on you b*****d…” she mumbled softly to herself. It was a rather old door and a rather old lock.
Leaning an ear in to listen she heard the familiar click and she cheered in quiet victory. Her lock picking skills could still use some polish but at least for now she had been successful. Carefully she gathered up her kit and slipped into the room. Closing the door quietly behind her.

She listened for the sound of retreating steps, but when they did not come, and when her ears picked up the soft mumble of the other female vampires words, Talyssa slowly peeked around the corner again.
s**t. She was still at it with the damn lock. She nearly huffed out a sigh but stopped herself. No need to out herself just yet, especially not out in the open like this where anyone could stumble upon them at any moment.
Resigned to the fact that the other was not going to leave, she waited until she finally picked the lock, and watched her go inside. Grinning, Talyssa stepped into the hallway and checked the door of the room next to the one Sparrow had gone into.
Unlocked, of course.
She ducked inside and closed the door behind her, making her way through the dark room and to the window. Opening it, she found herself hit with the cool outside air, and she slid herself out through the window, grabbing onto its outside ledge and swinging herself over to the one next door.
Pulling herself up, she checked the window. Yep, locked. cocking her head tp the side, she tapped on it, hoping to get the attention of the girl inside.

Once she had gotten inside Sparrow let out a breath that she didn’t know she had been holding. Pressing her back against the door as she listened to hear of any footsteps might be heard coming to investigate the room. After a few moments there was nothing but silence.
The darkness of the room fading as moonlight filtered in through a curtained window.
Was that….tapping she heard? No, it could-no no it was definitely tapping coming from that very window. What the hell? Must have been a bird or something pecking at the shiny surface of the glass. But when it did not stop she had to go investigate.
Quietly she moved across the room. Avoiding knocking into anything the best she could. Flicking open the lock she opened the window just a bit. Enough for her to be able to peel out and see what was tapping. A dark figure on the ledge made her mismatched eyes blink. “What….are you doing out there?”

It took a bit of persistence but eventually, the tapping seemed to get the attention of the other vampire. She could dimly make out a shape approaching through the window and the curtain beyond, and she shuffled herself over enough that, should the window be opened...
Ah. There. She grabbed ahold of its opened edge and held on the firm so that it could not be closed again.
She tutted her tongue and gave her head a small shake.
"Stargazing." She leaned forward, her own mismatched eyes narrowed and visible behind the dark cloth that was wrapped around her face. "But I am ready to come inside now so back up."

“Stargazing. Right.” Like she could believe that. One didn’t sneak around dressed like that for stargazing. No, this was another thief who thought they were just going to mosey on in on her steal
Well they couldn’t have they now could they?
“Sorry no stargazers allowed.” Sparrow attempted to yank the window away from her. Fully intending to close and lock it as fast as she could if she was successful. Of course, the other thief could very well alert someone to her presence and then she would get caught…
s**t.
Abruptly letting my o of the window she stood there, unmoving. “Go find some place else to pilfer I’m on seriously business and I don’t want some….” She looked her up and down “Arabian knight mucking things up cause you trip on your scarf.”

As she suspected the girl might, there was an attempt to wrest the window from Tallysa's grasp, but she continued to hold on firm, her eyes narrowing further. But then, the window was released, and the female on the window ledge pushed it open wide, and let out a little "Tch," as she looked the other vampire up and down. "And what is it you are? Let me guess, just another amateur Romani thief. You are lucky to have not yet been caught." Talyssa's voice carried with it a strange, lilted accent. "For how long it took you to unlock that door," She nodded to the one across the room far behind Sparrow, "I could have been in and out of here at least...five times." She decided, with a nod of her head.

Sparrow bristled at the insult. Eyes flashing dangerously as she crossed the space and got right in the other girl’s face. Sure she might not of had as much experience yet. But she was proud of what she was and no one would insult her family. Mock her skills all you want. But don’t ever bring her family into the insults.
She shoved the other girl back towards the window roughly. “I’ll have you know my family comes from a line of very well off Romani thieves thank you. And I would keep my family out of your dirty mouth if I were you.”
Her expression of anger suddenly turned to one of pure saccharine sweetness. “Now, what was that you were saying? Five times? If that was so you would have done it instead of acting like some voyeur out on a window sill. Peeking in while the big kids are doing some actual thieving.” She turned away from her. Long white hair fanning out with the movement as she quietly made her way to a bear by bookshelf. Ignoring anything Talyssa had to say after that. “You might as well just leave. This is my mark.”

Ah, she had struck a nerve! There may have been a self-satisfied smirk plastered on Talyssa's face behind the mask. And she had been right as well, in assuming the girl's heritage, it seemed.
She laughed at the shove, though it had been hard, and had she been mortal it definitely would have left a mark. Talyssa had heard stories from her mother of the Ravnos vampires, and their fierce loyalty to one another, and their family.
"So it is okay to insult me but I can not return the favour. Got it." The last word was sharp as if it could cut. She moved further into the room as soon as she was able, ignoring whatever it was that Sparrow was saying about Talyssa leaving.
"I did not want to interrupt you." She said, running her fingers along a wall. "You seemed so focused." Talyssa turned and crossed her arms over her chest.
She scoffed another laugh. "Big kid? Is that what you are? You did not even notice I was watching you in the hallway."

“Exactly.”
She scoffed. “Why would I acknowledge an elephant tramping down a hallway when I don’t need to? I was surprised you made it off the top floor without someone hearing you flipping about” She stated flatly. Fingers pocketing a few baubles here and there before they skimmed over the spines of some books.
She was looking for something in particular here. While her mark was a painting she had good intel that another item she had personally been after was here as well. It would be a double take for her tonight.

Taly rolled her eyes, not believing for a second that this amateur could have possibly been able to hear her. Besides. Flipping around? She flipped like, one time. "That is some talent you profess to have, knowing when a sound is someone coming that is also robbing the same house as you. What if I had been someone who lives here, hm? Would you sit there and continue to pick a lock? I think not." She watched as Sparrow moved around the room. "What is it you are looking for?"

“Well when you are born with natural talent.” Sparrow tapped her nose but still kept looking. “You don’t smell like this house so I obviously deduced that you didn’t belong here. Besides who the ******** sneaks around their own house?” She moved to another book shelf. Her search a little bit quicker than it had been previously. Letting out a sigh, she turned abruptly to the other. Placing a hand in her hip as it jutted out just a little. “If you must know I am looking for a book. It’s something my great grandfather has been looking for for a long time. Even before I was born. And I got good intel that it was here.” Turning back to the bookshelf she continued to run her finger along their spines as she read each title.
