With a new generation of Pokemon upon us comes a plethora of new Pokemon, moves, abilities, and a new gimmick. As such it is time for us to test out all these new goodies against each other in a competitive setting and thus I present to all of you the Paldea Cup! Team Snagem's first tournament of generation nine! Below you will find the rules of the tournament and below that some of the rewards for our participants and winners. To join in on all the fun simply post here signing up and be sure to include your friend code, just in case you are paired up with someone you haven't connected with on the Switch yet.
The tournament will begin, and sign-ups end, on Friday, April 28th, 2023. On that day a link to the bracket will be posted in this thread and on Discord, then all participants are asked to message who they have been paired up with and arrange a time to battle each other. You are not expected to do your battles on that exact day, however do try and get them done as soon as you can to keep the tournament moving, though we know life can get in the way so do not feel too much pressure.
-Rules-
1.) Tournament will be singles format, normal rules, with teams of six Pokemon.
2.) Only non-legendary and non-Paradox Pokemon included in the Paldea Dex may be used. (No Charizard, Cinderace, etc.)
3.) No duplicates of the same species of Pokemon.
4.) Hacked or otherwise altered Pokémon outside of the game's normal means are strictly forbidden. Anyone found out to be using such Pokémon will be disqualified from this tourney and all future tourneys at once.
5.) Any player automatically loses if they knock out their last Pokémon through the moves Self-Destruct, Explosion, Destiny Bond or Perish Song, even if the opponent's last Pokémon was also knocked out.
6.) Terastalization is permitted.
7.) A Pokemon may not have have the move 'Last Respects'.
8.) Your team must be registered as a Battle Team upon sign up. You may only use the one team exactly as it is when you register it, no changing your team in mid-tournament. (This includes Pokemon, moves, abilities, and held items.) Registering is done in-game via the Box function and the Battle Stadium in the PokePortal. You will receive a Team ID when 'sharing' your team. (If you have trouble registering a team please PM me for assistance.)
9.) After every battle you are to share Team IDs with your opponent to confirm that you have been using the same team throughout the tournament.

And there you have the rules. The bracket style we'll be using is double-elimination, for those of you who don't know this means you'll get a chance to redeem yourself in the losers bracket when you lose once.
There will also be a variety of prizes for the top three contestants, they are as follows:
1st Place: Choice of $20 Steam or Amazon Gift Code, 2 Snag Emblems, Special Discord Role, and a set of Ancient or Future Paradox Pokemon. (Provided by Crystal and myself.)
2nd Place: Choice of $10 Steam or Amazon Gift Code, 2 Snag Emblems, a set of Shiny Starter Pokemon. (Provided by Crystal.)
3rd Place: 2 Snag Emblems, 40 Snag Coins
All Non-Placing Entrants That Battle At Least Twice: 1 Snag Emblem, and Entry Into A Special Raffle. (See below.)

And those are the guaranteed prizes, we may be adding more later but for now there they are. The raffle prize is currently TBA. However if I personally place in 1st or 2nd place I will be raffling away the monetary prize for that position.
