Candlelight flickered in the corners of the small, dark room. Precisely placed where they needed to be above a dark marble floor. The dullest reflection could be seen if one were to lean over it, but Lazarus' glowing eyes were nearly closed instead. He murmured near ancient words under his breath as he tapped on the ending of a line of blood finishing a set of runes. There were many ways to reach out to call one of his clanmates to his location, but considering he didn't know where to find her, it was best for Lazarus to try this method instead. Reaching out to grasp a vampire of a certain rank within the clan was his goal. Lazarus had been awake for a very short period of time, called back to this world shortly before the changing of the vampire god guards. Few had known he was awake, but rumor of his launch to Disciple would have reached many ears within Tremere. He had started to follow up on the ranks, figure out which pieces there were to work with, as well as handle a few other issues he had always found annoying before this turn of events. Top of his list? Kilah Morgansin. A singularly annoying woman. She had a tongue that was just as sharp as her claws, with a fierceness that could bordered on the edge of being... well, of another clan. Or perhaps that was because Lazarus had gone toe to toe with the blue haired one too many times before he had fallen asleep. She had always been a pain in his side and Lazarus wanted to ensure she would pose no problem with his new position. But Lazarus was unaware that there was another within the ranks of Methuselah who also met his general image of Kilah. A woman, her hair a deeper, darker shade of blue, and someone who could just as easily answer his call for Morgansin. The tall fae stretched for a second, bits and bobs on his outfit clattering against each other, and turned towards the front of his dwelling, moving down the hall to stand just in front of where a magical sort could enter. Waiting for the wrong woman, pretending to be entirely aloof as he did so.

Ever since Meixue had been brought into Clan Tremere, she had done her best to stay thoroughly aware of the political maneuverings of her clanmates. It was stupid not to, especially when she herself aspired to greatness. Her daughter won over an Elder, once upon a time, and that had been good for her family, but Jian's Elder was gone, Jian was wilting and miserable, and Meixue had decided to seize power with her own two hands.
A bargain with a secretive Disciple with magic that Meixue knew she could never match. Manipulation of time itself. And now she was far stronger than the scared little rabbit she had once been.
And now there was someone new at the head of rthe Clan, looking for a blue-haired Methuselah, and perhaps he didn't mean her, perhaps he meant someone else, but....well. Meixue was not one to squander an opportunity.
So she arrived, and knocked at the door to this mysterious Lazarus's haven. Not the one she had once known, she was certain of that. Someone else. Someone far, far older. But an interesting coincidence nonetheless. And she was curious. So she would meet him, and see if she could make an ally of him, before Kilah made more trouble for her or hers.

The woman who answered his call was not Morgansin. A wave of his hand had opened the door to his haven, only to see another at his doorstep. She... was not someone he had known before his most recent slumber, but she was apparently a Methuselah. That much was clear. Lazarus was quiet for a second, watching her carefully while considering what was happening before speaking. "Enter." A simple command, without any magic behind it, but Lazarus knew that she would follow his order all the same. If she had partaken of blood of his lessers, as was the Tremere way, then she could hardly go against his will. The door was closed after her, if only because he didn't want someone else wandering in. Too much trouble to deal with, when Lazarus was keen on picking apart where things stood. "Your name and what is currently happening in the clan. Take your time to condense any messy details." His voice was deeper than most, but spoken in a measured, calm manner. He was seated back at a short table, on a cushion on the ground, with his hood pulled forward over most of his face as normal, but those glowing eyes were watching her.

The man before Meixue was entirely unfamiliar. That killed any chance that this was somehow Jian's Lazarus; she had known that already, truly, but it was convenient to be certain.
She smiled, polite as ever, and crossed the threshold daintily, as if making herself seem small and delicate might keep him from recognizing her for what she was. Pointless, of course, but since her little bargain with Illyes, she had gotten used to disguising her power, so that others might not recognize what she had become.
He clearly sought the opposite. To make himself as figure of mystery and intimidation. A walking threat, of sorts.
How charming.
"Meixue Todd, at your service." She bowed, politely, and then straightened. "I'm afraid I'm a bit out of the loop as to events of late--I had taken some time for...solitary study." She was, indeed, sizing him up, trying to decide for certain how much she ought to reveal of her ascent to power. "But I get the impression that we are a bit...scattered. I've even lost track of some of my own descendants." She sighed, unhappily. Jian's sister, of course, was long gone, but so was Zheng's sibling, and who even knew what Tai Zhi was up to. She wrinkled her nose, unhappily. "I am glad we have someone to lead us once more."

Lazarus wasn't entirely sure what to do with the one standing in front of him. He did not recall who she was. Perhaps she had not been turned when he was last awake, though considering what rank she held... ambitious she must have been. Lazarus couldn't help but appreciate a bit of ambition, everyone in Tremere had more than a little. Meixue Todd, at your service. She at least knew how to start things off on the right foot. But what information she offered next was certainly not what he was hoping to hear. One of the ones who had stuck her head in the sand to pursue her own studies. Not too far off what Lazarus had tried to do when he had been the same rank. Before turning two magically talented women, one of which was the one he had been trying to summon. He'd have to have a word with Kilah later about ignoring her sire's call. "Basically what I assumed then." Most of the clans seemed to be in similar states, at least from what he had been able to glean while he was scrying. Which meant they were no worse for wear despite it all. "I'm attempting to get us organized once again. Perhaps contacting those within your society to pull those pieces together would not be amiss." Not quite an order, because Lazarus was loathe to order the societies around directly, but it was a path of communication that he no longer had access to. His own society would not accept his orders any longer. The Disciple could not be a member of of a society, but the societies were of their own in return. Complicated, but something Lazarus had no intention of disrupting at this stage. "Who are you aware of wandering around then? Perhaps we can start with a roll call of sorts in that direction." He could scry with names and general ideas who he was looking for. Small steps in the right direction. That's all he needed to start.
