[PRP] Call of the Forest (Kasumi, Keane and Zedric)

[Yumitoko II]

Choose some ponies Yumi.
Choose some ponies!

You wake up in the forest. How you got there isn’t important right now. But the thing is that you’ve been given a time limit by a sinister voice who acts like this is just the first round in some demented game. Whether or not you really want to play, you do know that you don’t want to stay here.

Write out facing 2-3 obstacles/riddles to overcome before you make it out of the forest. Your prompt should end with you making it past the edge of the woods. At the end of the month the mysterious voice will let you know whether you made it out in time. Who made it out on time will be chosen by rolling a few from the list of those who entered. Those rolled will also get ONE ticket for the end of the year raffle.

This is the first time you have heard this voice, but it won’t be the last.

Kasumi

Kasumi leaned into Keane's side, she felt a coldness wash over her that rendered her unable to move. Her breathing became shallow and her eyes widened.
"Who was that?", she asked breathlessly trying to hold back a shudder.

Keane

A smile crept it's way onto Keane's face, he turned to Kasumi and gave her an encouraging nudge.

"Doesn't matter because we're getting out of here!"
Keane began to notice that the trees didn't bend how they used to and the terrain under his hooves was much more coarse than he had remembered.

"If we meet our new friend on the way out then great but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Come on, it might even be fun?", he grinned sheepishly, even he knew he proably wasn't convincing her but he didn't want her to panic.

Kasumi

Upon seeing the smile on her lover's face Kasumi sudeenly felt at ease, he obviously knew what he was talking about. I'm just worrying, it's got to be kids playing in the forest right? Who else would play such a prank? She thought.

"Okay, so where to?", Kasumi scanned her surroundings and saw a river in the distance, along the way there was a trail of nuts and seeds, this prompted her to begin to follow it. She turned back and donkeylipped Keane's hair while gently tugging,"come on, there's a river", her voice was quite muffled.

Keane

Keane trailed after Kasumi and after a short while she let go oh his mane. He hadn't the foggiest of what she was trying to say when she started tugging his hair or where they were going but he noticed that she was fixated on the ground. He couldn't understand why and was pre-occupied with staring into the shadows of the trees, looking for movement but he didn't see any.

Every crunch of a leaf or snap of a twig was amplified but the stillness of the forest, his optimism could only carry him so far.

"Where are we going?"

"This is not happening, this is not happening, this is not happening!" Zedric heard someone speak in his ear but he wasn't about to turn back and look. If Arya was around he'd atleast know there was a 85% chance it was her, but she was long gone and he was on his own. The small usdia did not look at where he was going, it was impossible to see at that heigh as the bushes battered and scratched him in the face. He moved at a breakneck speed until he almost broke his neck upon impact with Keane.

1 - 25 Zedric bounces off Keane like nothing happened.
26-50 Keane is jolted by the sudden impact but damage is minor.
51-74 Keane stumbles but regains his balance, that'll leave a mark
75-100 Keane falls off his feet and is injured

Keane

The horizon moved and suddenly Keane feels the air escape his lungs as his head bounces off the spongey forest floor. He had lost his balance from an impact. He looked around to see a cowering usdia.

"You might want to look where you're going!", he snapped. Keane shifted his orientation upright, he tried to stand hastily and felt a pain wave over his spine, down his legs and up his neck. The shock caused the stallion to sink back to the ground.

The small stallion's eye's grew wide when he had realised what he had done. "I'm sorry!", he yelled,"I-I-I..." The stallion didn't know what to say, he cowered as Keane tried to stand and didn't realise the extent of his injuries.

"I didn't mean to!"
The voice from the orange stallion did not match the voice he had heard earlier and yet he was still in trouble. "I was going to die! The voice! The-the..."

Kasumi

Kasumi lowered her head towards her mate, she could see it was an accident and was not concerned about the usdia as he seemed as scared as she was.

"Come on, up you get", she labouriously aided her mate in his second attempt to stand, he could feel him struggling, the strength in his body had been sapped away.

"What do you mean voices?! Keane need to get you out of here, now", she urged her mate to move in the direction of the river. She knew it wasn't a time to fight and tried to hush Keane's protests against the usdia. "If you want to make it up to us, make yourself useful", she murmured over her shoulder to the usdia.

Zedric trailed behind the couple cowering at Keane's profanities,"pl-please, I..."
His words escaped him again. He waked serveral paces behind the couple in an attempt to stay away from the angry stallion. Zedric's ears flattened,"I was running for the bridge. The voice challenged me to cross it, it's the only way out."

Zedric did not want to be hurt by the stallion but he still felt the same urgency to leave and it got the better of him,"I've got to go! The bridge is just over here!"

After a short time the group find themselves at an old rope bridge.

Keane and Kasumi

Keane tentatively put a hoof on the wooden planks and felt them bend beneath him. "We can't." The wood had become soft from the moisture in the environment.

Keane and Kasumi waded through the river, at times it felt as if the current threatened to carry them away. Keane knew that he would not have the strength to fight it if it swept him off his feet but luckily he was able to wade through it. The cold water stole the air from his lungs and the pain in his spine returned,"hey, Kas, I'm not doing too good", he finally admitted.

He knew they would have to take it slow if they were to leave but he didn't know how much time they had before the voice would return. Keane looked ahead and tried to keep himself grounded.

Zedric gently hopped over the broken planks and steadily wobbled along the bridge. His lighter weight allowed for him to be able to get across without falling through the planks, this bridge was obviously created for humans and not the likes of soquili but he was glad he tried it anyway. He was able to stay dry and pull the other two up the river bank.

"That's it", he says gently as he helped Kasumi push Keane up onto the riverbank.When the other two had safely made it out of the water a long sigh escaped him,"I think that's it, they can't get us if we go now, the water will slow them down." He was able to convince the couple to stick with him, not for their safety but for his own, he had no idea if they were still being followed or not.
