WILLFUL Loyal to her loves but flighty about everything and everyone else just about sums up Serafina’s underlying demeanor. Be it hard decisions or hard labor, Fina will do whatever it is she needs to in service of her goals–and the only one who sets those goals are herself. While the precise hobbies or fashions change by the week, Fina is quite consistent in her love of food, nature, and family-- these are loves, and they can do no wrong.

CERTAIN Once she has made up her mind, Serafina is absolutely and utterly convinced of her righteousness and correctness; to disagree is either foolishness, ignorance, or betrayal. If she does discover new information before she's done anything, she might change her mind, but she does not like to linger in indecision too long: Results are king, and planning is rarely as productive as doing. Fina's absolute confidence in herself is what makes her remarkably disciplined and thorough once she has committed to a path of action, but it also makes her rather closed off to criticism. If Fina hasn’t asked for criticism, it is quite frankly, rude and unnecessary to offer any.

DECOROUS Raised with her parents’ ambitions of wealth and society instilled in her, Serafina prides herself on being the picture of ladylike behavior no matter what situation she’s in. At a high society London soiree, she’s polite, friendly, and gracious, with a keen eye for the ongoing social movements and motivations. At the local craft store, she is knowledgeable and helpful, shopping for her next project or looking to learn a new pattern and share her work. Out of her familiar gilded life, Fina has no particular aversion to asking for help or getting dirty herself– she knows her limits, and there's nothing shameful about being a bit sweaty. She’ll try to stay neat and presentable, but appearances won’t stop her from doing and being what she wants to.

ECONOMICAL At first glance, Serafina might appear to be a vain and posh lady, but she is almost anti materialistic– people are precious, ideas and knowledge are fascinating, and time is meaningful. By contrast, stuff–even precious jewels and unique art– can be easily replaced. She could, of course, buy new clothes or jewelry without looking at sale prices, but finding a sale or even better, making something by hand with her own flair was enjoyable and praiseworthy. Of course she and Val could indulge their love of food with every meal, but they are abstemious enough not to. Sher adores the quarterly gala where everything comes together, but it's meaningless if there's no time to work up to the event. For all appearances and actions, Fina strikes a delicate balance between frugality and generosity–If someone who seemed to be down on their luck or of lower social-economic status and complimented her earrings, Fina would easily pop them off and give them away right there. After all, she could always make a better pair for next season. Serafina is much more protective of her time and energy– gifts are meaningful because of how much they might be appreciated– the stuff itself is quite trivial.

PHYSICAL “Pain is weakness leaving the body. Pushing our limits is how we grow.” Serafina is a very hands-on person. She is as comfortable dancing as she is embroidering and enjoys both athletic endeavors and more dexterous crafting. She prides herself on her appearance and health, keeping it in careful balance. And while the external validation is nice, Fina’s real point of pride is feeling completely comfortable and capable in her own skin in any situation. Socially, her manners are very open and affectionate like her Italian parents, although her experiences in more conservative British culture has tempered her behavior to how people reciprocate.

🧶🧵EARLY CHILDHOOD Serafina Lucia Aurelius was the youngest child and only daughter of Cato Aurelius and Audenzia de Luca. With Valerius’s disinterest in the family fortune and affairs and Aurais’s cursed silence, both boys had spent their childhood not particularly concerned with the family fortune or money. Young, bubbly Serafina was both the ideal and last hope for “fixing things”-- she was molded from a young age to be the perfect companion to marry into money and restart their family fortune. Some part of this must have worked–Serafina herself doesn’t quite think about her own preferences or methods– her parents’ intended effects are simply ingrained into who she is.

In contrast to her brothers, Serafina grew up believing that their family was always financially successful. With the apparent windfall that the family encountered when Fina was just young enough to remember, she knew how to use money, but didn’t seem preoccupied with it.

🧶🧵SCHOOL YEARS 🧶FIRST YEAR After years of not being able to see her brothers for most of the year, Serafina was eager to attend Hogwarts for herself.
