Almost a hour, a hour of being stuck hiding low amongst the spring collection of violets, tulips and little white crocus hiding his body amongst its colourful array. He could see the figure which made his skin crawl in the distance to the path he would take home, a tall figure who had elongated ears like a rabbit. While this wasn't normally something to be alarmed with he knew from his father's research that sometimes beings with other animal features could be shifters. Not all were ones to maim and hunt - as his older brother wasn't a shifter but did have to eat meat who had canine like features; he knew that well. Yet there was something about the emergence of creatures who would normally not be carnivorous like a Rabbit shifter he heard tales of which made him shudder, because what would drive an otherwise herbaceous creature to crave flesh?
It wasn't going to be his flesh if he could help it today.
When noises came from behind him he turned his head slow as could be, spotting another small body come bounding into the meadow. His heart sunk as Teo was looking at another colt! Did he not see the danger lurking ahead! His eyes closed tightly as fear made his body shake, his father would know how to deal with it, he would have tried everything to save this soul with his wisdom and his grace. He knew he couldn't face his father if he came home with a tale of seeing a young life snuffed out so when the stallion ahead turned to look away he shot out of the grass and charged; galloping over and without a word bowled over the other youth till they both hit the grass. "Shhh!" He hissed out quitely, his snout pressed over the side of his face to keep him down. "There's a shifter near! He'll attack if he sees us!" His limbs were shaking, but not from the exertion as he moved only a bit to make sure this colt wasn't going to do something they'd both regret. "Can you see? Over there by the trees..."

Teo didn't have to be told twice, the nudge from his friend giving him just enough traction to get on his hooves as he tore around the stallion to where he had been and the direction of home. Yet as his head turned to look back Liam wasn't running back to his family - no, he was staying and trying to keep the stallion from coming after him! "Li-oof!" Teo thudded and nearly crumpled against a solid frame as he wobbled and looked up.
"What's....going on?" Subira said slowly, trying to understand what was happening beyond her younger brother to the other little colt running and kicking up a dust storm around a stallion and a familiar. "Big sister! Help! We found a shifter!" Subira looked back over and felt a smile creep over her face. "Teo darling, thats not a shifter. Look, there is no pelt on his back." "But- but Dad's story-" "If I recall that shifter was white, rabbit in nature *and* is named Sans Merci. You also remember to look for any jewels to show they're charmed?" "....No....." Teo said slowly, following as his large sister headed over to the commotion with a calm confidence.
"Hold on, young one." Subira moved to block the way of Liam when he was rounding to come back under the poor stallion, looking up. "The boys here seem to have gotten the idea that you're a shifter..." The stallion coughed, the dust finally dissipating but looked up in surprise. "Shifter? Heavens no...I...I'm horribly lost with my friend here." He nodded down to the rabbit who looked like it was ready to bolt. "I got a little turned around from my colony...and I was waiting to see if anyone was going to pass by but saw them..." His head turned, one ear lopping to the side. "I suppose it was unwise to approach foals..." Subira smiled. "Merely a poor timing as my brother had just had the talk about shifters from my overzealous father. Teo?" She turned her head to give him almost a mothering look. Teo's head fell as he shuffled a hoof. "I'm sorry mister...Liam was just trying to protect me too." He looked over, while he couldn't have been brave like Liam had, the least he could do was take the blame for this. Subira nodded, turning back to look at the stallion. "I could give you directions, where was it you were heading?"

Teo gasped, his eyes wide as he watched Liam take off one of his bracelets and offer it to him. "A-are you sure...?" He asked hesitantly, knowing often things like that were sentimental. He was, though, so Teo leaned in and took the bracelet, lowering his own head and slid his hoof through as he gave a little pull to the string to tighten it. "Thank you!" He beamed, it was almost like they had the same now - a token of friendship!
Teo didn't have jewelry though, not until he was grown anyways. However as he looked down to his pink bandana the Amachi's had given him when he was born he used his leg to brush his head against it to work the bandana from around his neck. Thankfully the racoons his father worked with were great at tying it tightly but he held it out in his own mouth and reared back to slide it on his head and affix it around his neck. "There. Now you're colourful too like me!" He stood back and admired a moment. "Pink looks really good on you, Liam." He remembered his sister's warning and felt a rush of urgency. "Listen I gotta go, i've been gone too long. Lets play sometime, okay?" He gave him a nuzzle to his cheek and with a little whinny he yelled 'Bye!' As he ran home on the now free path; little did he know this would be the last time he would run into Liam. [/colour]
