Did it come as a surprise? Or did you try really really hard to nail it?
The first time I placed, it was basically an accident. I pulled an avi from my closet I thought was cute and didn't even edit it. When it got third I was shocked!
*please don't feel bad if you've never placed in top 10, that doesn't mean you aren't creative and amazing, most likely luck just wasn't on your side

Congrats on your 'lucky' win! Though I wouldn't exactly call it 'luck' just because you didn't make any last-minute alterations to suit the theme furthermore. Obviously, your outfit was just that good and on point.
I've placed numerous times (one 1st place trophy), but I've never made an outfit for Runway. Any Gaian that knows me will tell you that my fashion is predictable, and that's because I own exactly TEN outfits that I cycle between.
I put so much effort into a single look, that I've no choice but to keep them forever ... I have to get good wear out of them to justify the time and energy that I put into them lol!! So I don't necessarily follow Runway, but if I come across a description that fits one of my ten outfits, I'll throw my name into the ring just for shits and giggles. ·•· — ·•♥•· — ·•·

I got top 7 on a yellow & brown runway.
And got top 10 on a K-Pop runway.
That's two of the only times I placed high on a Runway this year.

I got excited when I saw the prompt for the runway, 'cause my favorite colors are yellow and brown, so I was determined to pop off and serve.
In the end, though, I wasn't too sure about the final product, since it's basically my Solar (butter yellow) outfit and my Umber (sketchbook/kingly brown) outfit combined.
But I'm happy to see people like it and that it got lots of votes, making it top 7. That's the highest rank I got all year in Runway, so I couldn't be happier. 3nodding

Nope. No different versions or anything like that. Nor do I update them lol Once they're done — they're done. Editing them would open up a can of worms.
The closest thing they get to an edit would be if they fit a Runway theme, other than missing a single specific item or something. At that point, I'm usually able to muster enough shits to buy an item, equip it, enter the contest, and then immediately sell/donate/delete the interloping item.
Another one of my Gaia quirks is that I don't keep any other items other than the ones that are attached to my saved outfits. And further adding to that, I refuse to use a single item more than once, and I don't allow duplicates. Basically, my outfits aren't allowed to share with each other lol!
Say what you want about my OCD habits, but I'm rewarded in a way most Gaians will ever know — I have a small, clean, easily managed inventory. So na na!!

I felt like entering a Runway contest, and the easiest one was Carl's Goldshop Challenge, because all I had to do to qualify, was equip a single, visible item from 'Junk in the Trunk'. So I added a stereo to Outfit #6, et voila!
As you can see above, the stereo is now sitting at the bottom of my inventory, waiting to be sold in my shop, as are all of the items listed after my Tokens (Yes, I use them as dividers lol).

also not that you asked for opinions but I love the purple sparkly avi so much, well honestly I have a soft spot for sparkly avi's period but that one is so nice

Hey y’all! I place in runway quote frequently. I think this month alone I placed top 10 at least 12 times? Anyway I don’t enter frequently as of recently cuz I’ve been so busy but I love runway and modeling irl so fashion really is my passion 🤣
