Has anyone read his books? I absolutely ADORE them. While I don't usually like fantasy books (I find them mostly dull and drawn-out), I love the humour in Pratchett's books. He's so great at presenting fantasy with humour, the mythical with the mundane. Discworld is one of those fantastical places that one would love to see but don't want to live in. My favourite characters is Death and Vetenari. heart
I highly recommend his books. He has many out but none of the books (that I know of) are continuous; you can basically pick up any one and start reading. There are characters that appear in many books, but you don't need to know the backstory of any of them in order to enjoy them. I started of with "Small Omens" and I that has remained as one of my favourites.

He makes good use of his wit when writing, I like how he just states and presents things as they are.
I started out with Eric and the sequel of that one. Or was it the prequel, not sure any more. The Death trilogy was also entertaining, as it gave us a look behind the scenes of Death. One of my most favourite books has to be Cohen the Barbarian. Though the Wee Free Men also ranks high with me.
Right, go Rincewind and the Librarian!

I am loath to admit I have not read them, but I am familiar with them. I had a videogame based on Discworld that I loved. I found it very Python-esque, and I love Monty Python. Guess I'll have to try the books nowm so I can discuss.

I love the series with a passion, but I must warn any people planning to try it of one thing. Do not try to start it on one of the first three books. His earliest two books are pretty awful. The third, Equal Rites, isn't bad, but it's really much more mediocre than most of his later works. I tried to start the series on The Colour Magic twice and I could not get through the book either time. My advice is to start later with the beginning of the Vimes arc or the Witches arc ( Guards! Guards! and Wyrd Sisters respectively), as those two arcs are widely considered to be his best work.

I love Terry Prattchet books, particularly the Discworld ones. My favourites are Guards Guards and the Vimes series.
I heart the Librarian

I read some of them a while back, starting with Thief of Time, then realizing that it was one of the latest books in a long series. I went back and started from the beginning, but didn't get that far. I think I'll take Sola's advice and try again from Guards! Guards!

I've only read "Mort", but loved it! He is a wonderful author.

Thud! is a good Vimes book (not to mention one big commercial for the "Where is my cow?" childrens book) with some great moments it, I am especially fond of the near-Death moment. (Which to Death was a near-Vimes moment)

I must say I love Prattchetts work, My favourite would have to be Reaper Man, closely followed by Wyrd Sisters. My favourite characters would be Rincewind and Death Go Terry!

I actually had to read Men At Arms for a class last semester. Since doing so, I have started reading Reaper Man.

I must agree with Sola. The Vimes, and Witches Cycles are the best. But the Death cycles are also brilliant.
My favorite book is Thief of Time. I just love how every book, no matter how humorous, still has a lesson to be learnt, I never read one of his books without learning something new.
He is definitely my absolute favorite author.

I do like Terry's books but I tend to like the books centred around the watch. I've read 'Jingo' and 'Nightwatch', loved both of them. I confess to loving Sam Vimes and the watch, they're just great the way Terry describes them.
I've also read 'Good Omens', but that's not discworld so...neh.

Ohhh. I love his writing. I love Good Omens which he wrote with Neil Gaiman. They are both very talented writers. I love Terry's humor and how he can manage to go off on a tangent without going to far from the plot.

I love Diskworld! I think I've probably read all of them by now.
The best, in my opinion, was Theif of Time, but it's a hard book to start reading the series with. I should know, It was my first. xp
