So, I was on the way to daycare yesterday and I came up to the railroad track that crosses the street just before you get there. Traffic is horrendously backed up and I can see there isn't enough room on the other side for my car, so I stop at the line before the tracks and wait. Well, the jackhole behind me starts honking his horn, wanting me to move up.
What the.....He wants me to sit ON the railroad tracks?! Tracks that I personally know are used often by passenger trains? That I have had to wait at for trains to pass on many, many occasions? Uh...no.
Finally traffic moves and I go pick up the munchkin and head back out. On my way back, I can see another person blissfully sitting on the tracks like it's nothing...even though, last month, the street was shut down because some doofus got hit on those same tracks.
So, in that vein, what are your pet peeves when it comes to driving?

PEOPLE WHO DON'T INDICATE WHEN THEY'RE ABOUT TO GO OFF THE ROUNDABOUT. Seriously, I think cars need a mechanism that just makes people like that go round and round and round till either they puke and decide to just giv of driving as they don't seem to have the knack for it or they realise what those lights on the side of the car are for.
Ok I don't have a drivers licence, but as a cyclist, that drives me crazy.

My personal issue is jackoffs who know that a lane is closing and still drive in and go to the front of the line!!! I am actually one of those crazy fast maniacs that you were talking about sweatdrop I just want to get to want I am going and be done with the whole thing. Although, I have slowed down just a little...

where i live there isnt much for traffic problems... the only thing that i have to deal with is slow drivers... people that go WAY slower than they could easily go... like on a sunny day... people would go maybe 5 or 10 MPH under the speed limit!! GAH! i usually go about 5-8 MPH over the speed limit... but as long as the people in front of me are going the speed limit it doesnt bother me... BUT SLOW PEOPLE DO!

I pull up as close to the car in front of me as I can and refuse to let them cut in. Hehe! I'm pretty positive that I'm going to get myself shot doing that, one day. But, for now, it's worth it just to see them get all red in the face and start yelling. When they do that, I smile and wave at them. That makes them even madder. heart

Completely and totally. I have my own issue with Oregon though...The speed limit in the city is 55 on the freeway and out of the city it is 65. But on highways it is also 55...makes no sense to me at all!! I hate it because you go to Washington (I live right on the border) and it is 65 for highways, and 70 for freeways. 65 for freeways in the city too...makes me sooooo angry!! stressed

no, it makes a lot of sense... driving at those speeds reduces the amount of fuel you use... saving you MONEY!

I have started riding my bike to save me money--and it builds muscle...but then none of my pants will fit me anymore, causing me to spend more money on clothes--oh, the vicious cycle!!

Another thing that I dislike intensely stressed is when it is a four lane highway (two lanes going one way, and two lanes going the other way) and you have two cars who are going the same speed--so you can't pass either. And they are going 35-40 in a 45 speed zone. stare
