When you ask a question or exclaim something, do you put the question mark and or exclamation point inside or outside of the (please forgive this I'm blanking out on the name) the " thing's? I would like to know where these go (on the inside or the outside) when you are quoting someone and when you are speaking in for example a novel.
Below are some examples if my question wasn't straight forward enough for you guys.
"Go, go, go!" the commander yelled to his squad
"What is the pythagorean theorum?" Billy once asked me a long time ago.
Please answer my questions and correct my wrong-doings for I am merely an eighth grader and do not know how to spell some words and sometimes I puntcuate wrong so please help, and for future information regarding my brain functions and my reading and writing capabilities, reading and writing come most naturally to me if I type something wrong it's because I have bad typing abilities.

I think the " are called quotes, at least that's what I call them.

dark_elf I think the " are called quotes, at least that's what I call them. They're actually called parentheses, usually depicting something that someone has said. There isn't any kind of marking that has the name of quote, but commonly they use apostrophes or put the text in italics.

Demokritos dark_elf I think the " are called quotes, at least that's what I call them. They're actually called parentheses, usually depicting something that someone has said. There isn't any kind of marking that has the name of quote, but commonly they use apostrophes or put the text in italics. ..uh. Quotation marks, dude. Parentheses: ()
