the place to talk about/discuss/debate current issues in the news another good way to get to know each other...least i think so...

2 easy topics to get us started...

corby n the new work place laws...

corby...all i can say is i wish people would get over it...so sick of hearing bout that case...

as for the new laws...these are the proposed laws that would give power to the bosses and take it away from the workers...another reason i think john howard is a wank...i still cant see how gettin rid of unfair dismissal laws and lowering minimal wages is "good" for us eek

i am with you pixie on the corby issue, i also believe that she would not be getting as much air time if she was male

as for the johnny howard issue, i think it is ten times better then what bob carr has planned for western sydney- a large nature reserve in prime industrial or residential areas

Corby - could not care less.

IR Laws - What an arse. Ergh, I have John Howard. People need to understand though, he's not getting rid of un-failr dissmisal laws across the board. Currently, workers will have a case mounted and payed for by some sort of comission in relation to un-fair dissmisal, while the company must pay for it's own costs. This makes it very expensive for small firms. So what John Howard is doing is removing that economic presance from work places with less than 100 employees, but they can still take a company to court if they want, they just have to pay for it themselves now. I don't really know much else about it in depth, but I can say based on that alone, I'm already opposed to it. It's a lot more to it than that though. sweatdrop

Don't even GET me started on the Corby case. I'm Indonesian, remember? sweatdrop

The whole Douglas Wood issue is really, really sickening to me. I'm sorry to say this, but it seems that the general public are suckers for 'heroes' and sensational journalism. It sickens me. gonk

No I agree, he's just become a comodity for the public to consume, which is what I love about a capitalist society. stare

totally agree with the wood thing i mean ffs how is someone who married a yankee, has kids that are pure yankees and hasnt lived in australia for decades an australian???

as for the IR Laws...i know plenty bout the s**t that will happen...mum works for council for equal opportunity...i keep hearing these cases of people gettin unlawfully sacked and all that...my "bf" just got fired...he'll be taking his boss to the IR court...it was an unfair dismissal, they also been underpayin him for a year and not following the current laws...so frankly i am glad the unions are fighting the proposed laws cos its just ridiculous...as a full time uni student...who's also worked 4 casual jobs since i was 14 i definately wont be happy about my wages gettin lowered and the bosses able to sack me whenever they want just because they might not like me not because i cant do the job...

well where can i start, well probably the corby cuz its friggen well splashed up on the news every friggen day ever since this whole mess started... i personally i thnik that she is totally guilty, because

1) how the hell dont you notice an extra 4kg in a body board bag, hell i come from a coastal community where surfing is the main thing, and i trust us all 4kg extra anything is very noticable...

2) even though the media has about 5% of the whole picture, it ries to show that i knows all and tries to rally the ppl of australia against indonesia, (just watch the amont off ppl given air time on ACA etc saying that they will never visit Bali etc again...) and that totally gives me the shits,

3) She should face the total law of the counry she got cought in, and not have the indonesian law policy compared to australian, because we are very lax, and they get the job done.

hehe now good ol' shane, ive only got 1 hing to say, BYE BYE CRICKET CAREERE

and isnt it about time little johnny got out of bush's bed and led australia independantly????

thats my spleel

No one would care about Corby if she wasn't pretty looking and young. There's people in there doing life for the same thing she went to Jail for, and you never saw them all over the news. She probaly did it anyway, she looks like a crackhead.
Why should anyone care about Wood? He was over there for the money. 30 thousand dollars a week is what he got when he was over there, then when he got back here he said he might start working over there again. I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

The only reason Corby hasn't gotten off all charges is because of the media coverage. If it were not for our meddling media Schapelle's Lawyers could have bribed the judge with very little money and she'd have gotten off. She has our glorified media cavalcade to thank for her sentence.

Douglas Wood. Seriously who gives a flying ******** over what this man went through. He has not lived in this country for over 10 years, he's not a tax payer and he was in a War zone. We as the Australian nation should not have done a thing to help the man. We wasted Australian tax dollars on a man who...was of no real importance anyway, and he no longer contributes to this country. Now that he got released he's seen as a hero. Utter crap, he got captured and then released. His family paid for further terrorist activities that will kill more than just one person. Entirely not worth the effort.

What do you guys think of having an Australia card?

Me thinks it would be horribly annoying and pointless.
