Gemstones On White Velvet
The precipitation fell without hesitation Soon all would be covered.... Encased in ice
No longer a farm but now a crystal kingdom Every branch Every bud who thought warmer days would bring Spring Now captured
The wind did blow that icy night Branches burdened with the weight of the ice Shards of crystal breaking and falling
and this morning....
I awoke to hundreds no thousands of diamonds Translucent gems strewn about Crystal ice prisms reflecting in the cold winter's sun
Gemstones on white velvet.
Written January 2007 after a weekend ice storm which left our farm in a virtual paradise.

This would make for wonderful reading at a poetry night! Sitting on stage and reading it to the audience... The flow is different from the norm here, it's like a more advanced form... or something. I'm sleepy. I think that imagery is going to appear in my dreams. Me enjoy.
